    Manx 4X4

    I like it!
  2. The original Revell kit included the two figures molded in three pieces. Hendrix has taken them and cast them in one piece plus the base. The build up is of an AAM resin kit I built back in '03 or '04 to which I added the Rancharo chassis, front and rear bumpers. But I never had any figures in resin till now. The length of the boys arms includes two cap pistols. Did you take that into account Jim?
  3. Received today! (Fast shipping!!!!) Casting is nice. Cowboy boots have the heels molded weird.... but hardly noticeable. Time for paint.
  4. Nobody seems to use the side pipes. Can I have them?
  5. Did you guys also get the little cowboy too? He was in the Revell kit as well. I did. http://Little cowboy
  6. SWEET Rich!!!! I'm getting one for me. Thank you. I knew one of you guys would know where to find one.
  7. Revell's 1959 issue of the '57 Country Squire kit had a cowboy in it. He's even holding a saddle! I am sure somebody has cast the darned thing by now....
  8. I agree! But then I have a few woody projects that stalled in this stage too so... I have no foot to stand on.
  9. When you say "drawn" what do you start with?
  10. If you read the interesting story about this one.... you'll learn that it was a pre-production car modified to LOOK like a prototype.
  11. Now that is not bad! Not bad at all!!!!
  12. Now you know one reason why I like Slot Cars!
  13. Polling is still open Danno so you can do the count if you want. Think I'll wait and be surprised. The update on the race is.... that we held two races. Different winners in each and ... well, if you want to know. You'll have to read the thread yourself. Don't want the race results to effect the Concours polling. Two cars pulled out so we are down to 6 entrants for the last and final race. Now that the snow is gone I'll set a date for another track.
  14. I've been on Fotki for seven years. Only problems were when Hurricane Sandy took out a few servers. Took a few years.... but they restored all my lost pics. Other than Sandy, never lost a pic.
  15. That is a VERY, very nice build. Super clean and after studying all the photos I find only one tiny critique. And that is the wiper placement. They actually are designed to park themselves against the trim so they will be totally out of the way. Nearly hidden actually.
  16. Seriously Donald? You felt this was THAT important to post when the discussion was about a model car? So I left out the word "production", but I got my info from the same site as you did. Okay the correct phrase would be "The first production aero engine in a fighter/tank buster to breech the 2000hp mark"! Happy now? (BTW, you are now on my ignore list, congratulations!)
  17. Yup, first piston engine to breech the 2000hp mark!
  18. Yeah I know that a few of you hate Rat Rods. This thread will probably degenerate into a pro/con debate. But... if built with some skill and no skulls, the cars can be interesting and fun. One of the things I like to do is search for interesting power-plants. Straight 8's, Flathead V12's, 7-cylinder radial tank engines... etc. Here is the ultimate Rat engine! The aircraft is a Hawker Typhoon from WW2. The model is the new 1/24th scale Airfix Typhoon. The engine is an "H" 24-cylinder sleeve valve Napier Sabre water cooled and supercharged engine. Google this for some info. Be way cool sitting in front of a 1939 Ford coupe fenderless body wouldn't it?
  19. Keep it Rich, it'll be worth a fortune in 30 years.
  20. Thank you guys, but we need at least 25 votes to close this poll. Please tell your friends to check it out and vote. First race of three is TONIGHT, Thursday the 16th. I'll post the results... and I hope they don't effect the voting after.
  21. I don't know what you are talking about. Once a project is finished, you move on. If you don't finish it... you still move on. All that we do, whether a project gets finished or not is still called "A hobby"! Plus, you learn something with everything you do. so... no, I don't understand the question from the point of view that it is a waste. Nothing is a waste unless it's tossed in the trash. Many times I pull out that old project and find another use for the massive hours spent previously. It's called... "A HOBBY"!
  22. A number of years ago we had a poll just like this on a slotforum.com based in Europe. But they used the software's polling system. Close to 18 entries were present along with mine and back then SF had more than 10,000 members. The numbers were crazy in the voting. But we started noticing that suddenly the membership began growing by leaps and bounds. You see, it seems an individual can have an number of log-on's. Back then each new member was going to one thread to vote on the poll and never posted anywhere else. Just log in and vote the Chicago way... I noticed one builders poll number double in one day so I brought it to the attention of a moderator. The poll was taken down shortly after. I like this system better. Thank you all for posting a vote. Makes it easier and fairer when a name (I.D.) is next to a vote for something isn't it?
