Check out this baby that I purchased already painted on Saturday!!!
I added the Pegusas wheels when I got home.
The paint is base coat/ clear coat done by the
previous owner.
If you look carefully the left rear fin is missing
a piece at the top and the vent post in missing
on the right side.
But I don't think I can bear to strip that beautiful
paint to repair those minor details!!!!!
I fully agree about the "profile" article ideas that are being tossed about!!!
please include Guys like Tim Boyd. I really enjoy when he pulls out older builds to go
along with some article he is writing!!!
Can't remember how old, but it was AMT's '37 coupe.
It was built with an older cousin who was an amazing
builder. He helped my younger brother and i build
a pair of those babies. My brother's was yellow and
mine was a shade of dark blue.
The great irony is I still have my brother's car (he never really got into
building) but I have NO idea what happened to mine.
Still Bob,
It is amazing that it took the Union four years to subdue the Confederacy,
even though the "numbers"(Manpower, Manufactoring, and an already standing Army)
were on their side.
I am going to "Hazzard" a reply to this post.
I grew up in the south and still make my home here.
As a youth I took much pride in the fact that my state
still flew the Rebel battle flag even though over 100 years
had past since the wars end.
I now understand that the stars and bars on the Georgia
state flag was less about honoring the long dead confedaracy
as its was more about an attempt to silence a long overdue
rightingof wrongs and an end to prejudice.
In other words a symbol of the past had been co-opted by
the Klu Klux Klan and likeminded individuals, in much the same
way the Nazis co-opted that ancient Indian symbol for their
evil ways
I will still build the General Lee with the Stars and Bars,
but now for the sake of accuracy. not ignorance.
BTW I am more Proud of the current Georgia flag that Honors
a Flag that pre dated the Battle Flag.
Another thing to watch out for in the "rides" version is that goofy
offset rear end to lower the back.
Sort of looks like a bell dropped front axle for a street rod.
If it's a new release I open it before I pay for it!!!
Always at the counter though;don't want to tick
off the hobby dude...
Many times I will buy at least one more copy
before I leave the store!!
looking good!!! Great job
One of my favorite rides as a youth
was a Kammback wagon that belonged to
my boss.
I worked at a Chevrolet dealership in Clayton Ga.
back in the late 70's as a teenager. The Vega was
one of our parts chasers/loaners/employee drivers.
That baby was a great ride until one of the guys
shifted 3rd to 1st coming down a 10% grade.
When the B50 13's in the rear caught
the clutch became space dust. That
Lil 'Vega was never the same after that.
