1. Not on benchtop, but started!
2. Very clean build Billy. I believe Ol Tucker would be proud to put it in his office. 8)
3. 200 "and that's all I got to say 'bout that" Forrest Gump
4. You may be able to find a product call Purple Power in AU. Seems to be similar to Super Clean.Super Clean is more of a heavy duty soap than anything! Most degreasers have some petro based stuff. BTW usually the paint will "settle out" of the SC in a few days. This allows for reusing most of the stuff without staining. 8)
5. beautiful build!! Is it a Tamiya kit? I'll answer my own question. Of course it is or it would not have been at TamiyaCon..( it pays to read and not just look at the pics)
6. Hey, Gregg or Jairus,
Do you think it would be possible for one of you guys or maybe Larry Greenburg to post "a peek in the box" pics here, when we do get something new (or reissued) on the shelves. That way it's not like buying Cracker Jack ( no suprises inside). The topic possibly would need to be locked like the Links topic just to manage the size of post. Thjis is not to replace the reviews in the magazine but to enhance it. Sometimes a kit has been out awhile before the review comes out. I have thought several times after reading a review I will purchase the kit only to find it hard to find, because it is popular.
Just a thought that occurred to me while replying to the post in BIG BOYZ about the Gullwing Mercedes. His pics motivated me to purchase.
7. Marshall, Thanks for the pics of the kit. My Local HL has this kit on clearance. I think I'll buy it after being able to peek in the box.
8. How is the paint thickness in the Fusion? I have seen it on samples in several hardware stores and it seems to "build" thick. They may have used multiple coats to achieve a result different than what we modelers desire. Any comments?
9. Rowdy, I don't know if you will need a "base" color under the Metallic green. I sprayed my 64 Thunderbolt Duplicolor Ford Deep Jewel green over white primer and it almost looks black in certain light. I would suggest that you make a test panel from a sheet of styrene. Use masking tape to make a grid on the styrene. Then mask (or use a spray sheild) half and spray a couple of different shades of primer on each half. Then mask off and spray the different bases on these. Finally spray your color over the different bases to see which you like the best. This is a little time consuming, but the best way to keep from stripping and respraying if you don't like the resullts. Be sure to keep notes on which base and primer color you sprayed where. Then you have this for future reference.
10. Nice build Billy. I really like the color scheme of this one!!
11. Won this kit as a door prize at the Atlanta NNL last year. I just can't bring myself to open it yet! Can you image the "what if" factor had Jungle lived to race the Force? They were (are) the ultimate showmen.
12. Scott that is a good question. Those Herbie kits seemed to disappear from the face of the earth around this part of the world! Bought one for my son and his one his buds wanted some. I have not been able to find them anywhere.
13. Steve Thanks for the correction on the Specials. I had forgotten the year of introduction of that model! glenn
14. For a perimeter frame for the Buick check out the Revell 65 or AMT 67 Impala kits. If were to happen to be a Special, which was a smaller car, Try the Revell Chevelle kits (65,66 wagon or the 67). The detail on the 66 thunderbird chassis is like a promo.
15. 113 Is a great issue!! I almost missed it because my regular source (HobbyTown USA, Macon Ga) is closing. It is a sad day to see any hobby shop close but this one is very painful because it leaves a void in that community.
16. Thanks for the photo link, Ray! Are you really a COF or is that a front?
17. LAG, I believe the chassis from Revell's 64 Impala will fit the 60 Buick although you did not state what model it was. I am using that chassis under my 62 electra duece and a quarters. I don't know how much the Thunderbird chassis changed from 62 to 68 but the New issue AMT 62 thunderbird might be a good place to start looking. I recently saw one of those at KB Toy Liquidators for around $8.00.
18. Looking forward to seeing it in Symrna in November myself!!
19. Nice builds Guys!!! I like them all. Where are you guys getting those wire wheels from???
20. Super Clean is no longer marketed by Castrol. As someone pointed out it was off the market for a while and now is marketed by Super Clean investments or something like that. Having used this stuff for years I think it is still the same formula. I will post pics of my 60 Ford later on to show the results!!
21. Looks good Bill I like SoCal look!
22. Hey Guys, I am too cheap to upgrade so check out the pics on Fotki!!! http://public.fotki.com/glennn/ebay_fords-1/
