Something a I had put together a few years back. Brings back memories of the passion of the Puerto Rican car culture at the time.

AMT 1968 Camaro for a friend. Not really crazy about these basic AMT kits but I just had to build this one for someone very deserving. Paint is simply Tamiya Bright Red, no clear. He also wanted a vinyl roof on it. Basically a box stock build.....

Thank you guys, I didn´t find it finicky, the challenge was maintaining it upright while building it being that it only has two tires vs the four usually found on the regular car model builds. The plastic spokes were replaced with guitar string and hypodermic needles were used for the nipples that hold the spokes...

Thank you and yes, the slotted mags are a new item from Fireball....

MPC Schwinn Stingray....

Thanks, I use a Dremel disc, cut it at a certain depth and just twist it off. I will smooth out the end with the flat area of the disc itself..... -

Thank you my friend, yes, I just touched up the bare plastic with the Molotow marker. Thank you for the link, I use hypodermic needles for a lot of things, these are always very useful... -

Thank you, I used guitar string for the spokes, cut a pair at a time and replaced them with the string. I used hypodermic needles cut to lenght for the nipples. A little tedious but the results are pretty unique..... -
Decided to do something a little different and give myself a little break from the cars. Picked up this model at a model car show last November and thought it was a good idea to build it. First thing I did was to replace the ugly and way out of scale spokes on this thing. I used guitar string for this. I also decided not to use the ugly and also way out of scale brake, transmission and tachometer lines. Didn't have any orange color in my stash of paints so I just went ahead and mixed my own. Kind of a finicky kit but with a little patience, I think it turns out pretty decent....

Thank you, clamps are from Detail Master.....

Thank you Garreth, I would have loved using the side decals as well but when you compare it to the real one it just doesn't look right. There is a lot of space between the door handle and the door lock on the real image but not the same on the actual model. Also, the shape at the ends are not even close, they are simply too thick....

I purchased that air filter at a model car show years ago, it was offered by Replicas and Miniatures but I don't think he offers it anymore. If he does, I am getting another five dozen of them......

Yes guys, it's a little closer to this color. I also decided not to put the side decal in place because I think it's a little out of scale. It should be a lot thinner as seen on this real one.....

Hi there my fellow glue sniffers, hope all is well. Just finished this ugly thing and wanted to share it with you all. Kit builds well until you mate the chassis to the body so make sure you glue everything well and strong, you will regret it if you don't. Other than that, it truly is a fun kit to build and simulates the real one well. Pictures still don't show the true color but it's close enough. Color is MCW Finishes Frost Green Metallic and I used MCW Finishes Medium Green Poly for the interior, both factory colors. The interior was treated with a few aftermarket goodies including embossing powder rugs and a Hurst shifter from Detail Master. I also added seat belts with photo etch hardware. The engine was wired and plumbed and treated with a few other minor details. The Holley carburetor is from Fireball Modelworks. After the addition of the molding from Evergreen that separates the roof from the body, used MCW Finishes texture paint to simulate the vinyl top. I couldn't acquire the factory color for the roof from MCW or anyone else for that matter so I decided to match the real color by using Tamiya Nato Green on top of the black textured paint. I think it's the best match for this. Wheels and Tires are from one of the AMT wheel and tire packs. Hope you guys like this thing......
