  1. Actually, with a roof mounted light bar both spotlights were clear and there would be no lights on the package shelf. Nice one Terry, I love the big CHP cars from years gone by.
  2. There is a reason I moved to Vegas and it's name is winter. We had 6"-8"' of snow last year,(worst in 35 years). It shut the town down. All in all I prefer the desert though. 61 today, but the wind kicked way up and the temps dropped.

    32 Ford's

    I've only done two 32's, I prefer the '29. Revell three window, Pontiac 421, Chrysler rear end. <img src="http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh167/sgtwg/007.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /> <img src="http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh167/sgtwg/006.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /> <img src="http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh167/sgtwg/008.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /> Revell three window minus the windows, channeled over the kit frame. <img src="http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh167/sgtwg/003.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /> <img src="http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh167/sgtwg/002.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /> <img src="http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh167/sgtwg/004.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />
  4. Lordy! Now that's model making. Beautiful.
  5. Long ago I made a mold of the police equipment found in the '70 Ford police car kit. I resin cast copies as they were really accurate depicting the Motorola radio from back then. I used a piece of aluminum from a soda can for the mount. Careful painting based on my memory (faulty at best) completed the deal. I carved the mic from sprue and added some rod for the grill and a piece of scrap for the button. I use plain old craft wire coiled around a drill bit for the cord.
  6. Bruce ya never let us down! Good to see your stuff again, it's always a treat. I'm still kickin' and building like mad. Wayne
  7. Ok, finally got a minute so here's the finished car. The siren/light combo was standard for the SLMPD for a long time, well into the 60's. Same same with the door markings. As far as the steering wheel, I used what was in the kit. This kit has some of the best and some of the worst all in one box. I loved the engine, and the interior just fell together. The suspension left a lot to be desired, and all the little add on details just seemed to be designed wrong. The steering box didn't work where it was supposed to be on the frame, it interfered with the exhaust manifold. The window glass was really nice but mounted kinda funky, like the quarter windows didn't seem to fit the openings. All in all I think it came out ok. It is an accurate representation of the real thing from 1957.
  8. In 30 years of police work I have driven almost everything offered as a "police package". Best: '94 Caprice 9C1, naturally GM perfected the platform, then quit building it. Worst: '83 Dodge Diplomat, OMG! The nut that holds the wheel is the most important part. If you cannot drive, don't go out. That said I have driven several versions of Ford's CV. The current car is the best bet for all around performance whether it be urban, suburban, or rural. Space is definately an issue. When I started in '79 we had a radio and a siren. Now days there's a radio, or two or three (seriously, how many people can you talk to at one time?) a laptop, cellphone, siren/light controller, GPS, video cam, radar/laser/death ray etc etc etc. Put your own gear in there, and you can see where a big car makes sense. Impalas hold their own, but IMHO that is/was the worst handling car I drove in a long time. EVIL! That new Caprice looks GOOD! Anything based on a Holden platform should perform well. If it holds up all the better. Drove a few Chargers, big motors, lil motors, whatever. Not real impressed. Goes like stink in a straight line. Wouldn't want to crash it though. NO back seat space, tiny trunk, rear visibility nil. My personal car is an '05 Town Car, one of the few I've owned that impresses me. Snowed like heck here last year, 6 inches in Henderson alone. Coming from the midwest I can drive (i think) in the snow. I had no issues except I ticked off a Henderson cop. On my way to work, 9pm, I got off the main drag and started "playing" drifting, sliding etc etc. Copper pulls up to me, starts to lecture and recognizes me from some in service training. Says " darnit Sarge, I thought I had a live one, you still drive like a cop"
  9. Thank You all! The Concorde is about 8 years old now and was featured in Terry Jesse's last "Light Commercial" column in Scale Auto. It is a snap together "Slammer" kit that I believe is long out of production. I deleted the spoiler, filled the holes, and primered the thing silver as it was purple plastic. I generated the decals on an ALPS printer I had at the time, and made the lightbar from toothbrush handles. I glued red and blue sections together, sanded and polished them, then used BMF. The wheels came from an old police car kit a Fujimi maybe? Been too long LOL
  10. Thank You all! Completed photos to come soon. Sorry it took so long but for some reason I could not successfully log on until tonight.
  11. Some of you may remember these from another site. Terry jesse should remember this one: This one sort of crosses into soft skinned vehicles at IPMS. And some of the cop cars I have been building for about 15 years now.
  12. This is my first post so here goes. Revell's 1957 Chevrolet 150 Utility, wired, plumbed, and with a back seat from the Modelhaus. This kit fought me every step of the way to now, and thankgoodness I'm almost finished. As soon as the Alclad cures on the siren, I'm calling it done. The engine: The interior: The body: Engine bay:
