  1. I've been using Plastikote for years and love it. Keep in mind Valspar's "sandable primer" is the same thing relabled.
  2. 127 indicated on the digital speedo of a 94 Caprice 9C1. Best police car I ever had. Did right around 115 on my 95 BMW R100RT. Owners manual says to not exceed 115 with saddle bags. They weren't kidding. 114 steady as a rock, 115 slight tremor, 116 noticible vibration. Never went that fast again. G
  3. I'm retired from St Louis. Lived on Hancock within walking distance of the old CRM, you?

  4. We joked the models kept the roof supported at the Watson store. Glad to hear he's still at it! G
  5. Lotta rain heading my way from the coast. It's in Barstow now and looking rough. We average 3" of rain a year and have already exceeded that. Thank goodness it will be in the 60's, that's why I moved here. G
  6. High of 61 today but it will be wet. We've already exceeded our annual average for rain.
  7. I think Chris finally gave it up. I communicated with him for a bit after I moved away, but haven't heard from him for a while.
  8. I'm ready to start. Got the kit, and all the accessories ready. I'm thinking gun truck..................... In desert camo. G
  9. One of the best trucks I ever owned was an '03 Dodge Ram Quad Cab. Ex #2 took it in the divorce and then wrecked it. Man I loved that truck. G
  10. Fun thread, I'll play: Here's my daily driver. '05 Lincoln Town Car, just rolled over 50,000. She's almost broken in. Now my real passion is for bikes. '95 BMW R100RT, I got her almost brand new from a friend and have ridden all over the US.
  11. For bare resin I like overnight in Blechewhite and then a good scrubbing. I too have discovered Simple green and use it for all my 120mm figures.
  12. Now that's a winner! Coffee, donuts, and the paper. Perfect.
  13. The Monte sounds like a good move on your part. Watch the radiator, I had a 267 in a '79 Malibu classic and the darn thing kept ruining radiators. Never did figure it out. G
  14. I scored the Sunnyside limo off evilbay last weekend. $19.95, and worth it to me. I'll be watching this build for sure now.
  15. Great find with the Caprice! CHP used that logo around 88-89, and it pops up occasionally on recruitment cars and what not. CMV divisions now use white cars with a painted white push bumper. All carry the current logo that has a full color state seal. "Safety and Service" used to be in black on the rear fenders of all white cars. They just changed it to something else again. I applied to the CHP in '78. Due to a hiring freeze I went back to St Louis Missouri and went on the PD there. Wouldn't you know CHP called me in early '80?
  16. Thanks for the info! If you need reference photos just holler.
  17. I dig this, lemme check the stash. If not lemme visit the hobby shop, I gotta do one a these!
  18. Oh that's just wrong................. Welcome but wrong. It's a new breed on the streets nowadays, no more coffee and donuts. Now it's bagels and latte...........
  19. Ooooooooh cool! Where'd you get the diecast from? My personal car is an all black '05, and I want to build it.
  20. What ever makes you happy! Seriously, to me part of an emergency vehicle build is depicting all the equipment inside and out. It'd be a shame to keep it under wraps. G
  21. Thank You! The olive/black '49 is the Maryland State Police. They had these colors for years, then went to tan. In '96? they went back to olive/black. The '00-'05 Impala's had a 3.8 V6. The '06 in that shot had the Pontiac inspired 3.9 V6. Chevrolet always promised they would shoehorn a V8 into that car. In a way I'm glad they never did. That '00-'05 was an evil handling car. I didn't drive that '06 much. That photo was taken on the day of my last roll call before retirement. It was only about four weeks old then. G

Hey I have a question. Do you guys paint he checkerboard on the firewall or is it a decal? If it's a decal where oh where did you get it? G
  23. Inspiration? You want some inspiration? Well here ya go! Me with the real thing.
  24. My department liked smaller cars, Malibus, Fairmonts, still had some old Novas. We used the bigger cars, Newports, Fury's, Impalas, Diplomats as "lock ups" had the cages in them. We had one Diplomat, called it "The Ghost", freakin' car was haunted. You'd be driving down the street and the electric door locks would just start locking and unlocking by themselves. Headlights would wigwag by themselves, domelight would turn on and off, etc etc. I was happy when that one was finally totalled, but it took two major accidents to do it!
  25. They just LOOKED like police cars should look. Then you drove one..............................................
