  1. i was given a Lindberg Triumph GT 6+ for my birthday last year. i shook my fist at the sky for a while, then figured maybe one day it'll actually get done and maybe even halfway decent. i started gluing stuff together, so i shall wait until that fateful day to decide if it's worth the extra effort or not. from what i remember while working on it, it's going to need a lot of body work to make it look right.
  2. now, the real issue isn't stashing kits - it's finding room to display the kits after they're built. i find that i'm rapidly approaching the point of giving away built models just to make room for newly completed builds. or buy more shelves and move them out to the garage.
  3. thanks! the thunderbird is going to be interesting, and it's all molded in a bright pink. i'll need to add sunglasses to my list of required tools. your pontiac looks good!
  4. Both are treaded tires all around and aren't even started. Finishing a stock 69 charger, then finishing a couple vettes then the pro streets.
  5. i'd like to get on this, albeit not right away as i need to get a couple kits off of my bench. i have two entries for this: 1967 Chevelle Pro Street Revell Monogram "Hot Rod" Pro Street Thunderbird (really cool kit btw) i plan on detailing them out pretty nicely, including the opening the doors on the T-Bird.
  6. Thanks Charlie. It is nice knowing that the family did what they could to help make him comfortable. The only sucky thing beyond this is his brother also has Cystic Fibrosis. I can only imagine what's going through his mind with the knowledge that his very own brother died from the thing that he has too. Does he think he's going to be dying soon? Does he think he won't live past 20 years old? it has to be extremely tough for him, i'm sure. Thanks to everybody else as well, as i really do appreciate all of the thoughts and prayers. More than words can say.
  7. How about building one that has all six aspects? Guaranteed winner at that point.
  8. Tonight, my cousin Aaron has passed away after about a 20 year fight with cystic fibrosis. Growing up and all throughout his life he has always had a big heart. He even built a couple models with me as a teen. I'm really gonna miss him. RIP Aaron, and you will never be forgotten.
  9. i have this exact kit on my desk at work! considering the decals, you did a super job on it.
  10. IMO, paint it for you. if you want to paint for accuracy, pull up pictures of the real car for reference and include it in your "under glass" post to justify your level of clear. The pictures of the real thing vs your interpretation should be enough "proof" that you did it "right" - whether or not other people agree with it. There is no argument to conclusive evidence of the end result looking like the real thing.
  11. i wonder if they have any trunk monkeys?
  12. it's not even mad max. more like sad max. closer to bad max though.
  13. ok so here's what i'd be interested in seeing: a photo comparison with different primers and the same red. i know somebody had done something similar with a bunch of white spoons and they used different primers and same paints and showed results and it was pretty amazing at how much of a difference there was between the end results. primers i'd like to see used: white, gray, black, pink, yellow
  14. Revell, let's NOT see a kit of this.
  15. speaking of carpet monsters, i got to thinking of an invention: a pair of coveralls with a carpet on the front of it, so if something drops, it just lands on the coveralls. you know it'll work, too, because it has a carpet on it.
  16. my reason for stashing kits: 1. it started with my love for the chevy impala. I had to have 1 of every year from 58 to 67. My favorite is the 64, and now i have like 8 of that year. 2. being in a club, i find that the club does various group builds of certain cars, like the charger for example. i don't know which charger i like the most so i get many different years and hope to finish all for the group build, but if i can't, at least get my favorite one done. The rest sit in the pile waiting to be built. 3. going to model shows/contests, i usually frequent the vendors. I find something that catches my eye, and then i find out that he has a bunch of similar kits at a price that i just can't pass up. then i get home and go through all of them, then put them in the closet hoping to build them one day. 4. i've had really good luck with people just giving me kits for free. i come to work, there'd be a stack of unbuilt models there given to me by somebody who still hasn't told me who they were. Showing up at the LHS and coming across a guy giving away stacks of boxes full of models for free. i can't help it that i want to be a charity case for models lol.. 5. presents from birthdays and christmas. can't just give them away!
  17. there's very few things that make me facepalm. this is one of those things.
  18. Title reminds me of super troopers. "i swear the next person that says 'shenanigans' is gonna get pistol whipped." "hey farva, what's the name of that one restaurante you like.. you know, the one with the funny name?" "shenanigans?" *they all smile and offer the chief their pistol* excellent truck btw.

  20. again, doesn't yellow base coat/primer usually promote a brighter red?
  21. i thought most red cars had a yellow base coat to help the red pop?
  22. yeah i actually built the model. the hinges are a must-not-have. other than that, it went together. for a person just getting in to the hobby, i'd try to avoid it..hehe
  23. guess who completely neglected to do anything with his desk? this guy. was busy all weekend with a car show that had well over 800 cars.
  24. i'm probably going to get a new desk tonight so i can actually move the computer tower, modem and router out of the location of where they currently are, and re-arrange my work space.
  25. i always have images up of what i'm working on - the internet is your best reference material. i use my computer for my tunes too, so it keeps me in the zone. i mean, try google image searching: 53 hudson hornet undercarriage chassis you'll find pictures that no reference book would ever have. brake lines, fuel lines, etc.. all of the pictures on the web should help make a build become more accurate to the real thing, if that's what you're aiming for. OH - and color matching things like the off-color engine blocks that aren't your typical chevy/ford/dodge colors. The internet is a beautiful tool.
