Yes Mike the Allison Roller is my hands-down fave of all his stuff; with the S-12 a close second! Beautiful and meticulous Bo. I may be wrong but I thought the steering wheels were off-white. If they were, Skip will be in here to yell at you...

Don't worry about 'dents'. You got them on symmetrical and even and that's what counts. Glad it worked for you.

Dilemma - What Color Cooling Fins on 427 Cobra

Body color was how they were done in the '60's. Today, Shelby owners and some replica owners do what their idea of cool is. Don't prime your PE. Clean it with lacquer thinner then blow your black on in very thin mist coats. Just to get even coverage. You won't see peel on them on a 1/25 model. -
But you have something different wrong; What's a 'dancing FROM ?????????

I am having difficulty (and so is Skip) uploading pics directly into my thread from PB. I have no difficulty on any other site posting photos from PB directly into threads so something in this software is changing the 'Share IMG' button from PB. I hope this gets sorted or I will be unable to continue the thread. C

Excellent! Glad this helped you and you did a good job. Yes the longer strips will be difficult, but here's another thing to try: On a PRACTICE scrap of plasticard big enough, cut a thin strip of BMF but before you apply, put down a smear of water the full length with a drop or two of dish soap in it. Then 'float the BMF onto the liquid and see if you can position it and move it around to where you want it. Then carefully squeegee or burnish it down with a cotton tip. You want to push out the liquid that is under the foil so the adhesive sticks to the surface. This is the way tint installers do 1:1 auto glass tints. If it doesn't work, you can yell at me.

Progress but... I have finally attacked the finishing of the doors; their contours, mounting and latching mechanism. I have worked daily since the last post but nothing I wish to to present as accomplished work yet. I have photos to this point and will organize those soon as I get closer to a finished product. I know that the text book mounting of the doors in the Pocher book takes about a half hour each. As usual with mine, nothing is as Pocher intended or designed, thus the delay. More soon....

I think it's difficult to do Bo. But I might use the stickers (off the car) as templates and pre-cut BMF and apply. An alternative could be .005 sheet styrene cut for templates: it's stronger than paper but cuts with scissors or scalpel very easily. It will be difficult to get such thin strips off the foil sheet and you'd need the exact locations for them marked on the car. I would use Tamiya yellow tape or 3M Fineline for the lower border for the foil as a guide. The foil is probably thin enough to not wrinkle on the curves. I'd buy plenty of sheets of bright chrome foil as the failure rate may be high. Or you can do what Dave Cox does. Cut, file and bend brass strip stock to shape, drill. insert and solder brass 00-90 threads and drill the body for them. Then have them chromed: http://www.detailedmodelcars.com/mercedes-spezial-roadster.htm

Ideas for 1/25 CB antenna(wire)???
Cato replied to crowe-t's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Music wire. .032 is .8" in 1:1. If that's not the 1:1 size, measure a real one and do the math. -
Thanks Bo. Seriously doubt there will be luggage there. It would conflict with the very low roof which I'd like to feature. There will probably be leather straps with buckles.

Heh, heh, heh... I don't expect much would come from that. Besides, I've seen racks on some of their customer builds and Marvin is a soldering madman, loves it. Even uses a torch. Think Jorge does too. Doubt Marv wants or needs my shop class parts...

Ya think? I'm no casting genius but wouldn't there be mold seams on the main tube sides? They'd have to be filed off before he could have them plated. And I dunno how you'd attach separately cast legs to the main tube. Don't give MM another thing to cost $125...
-
I agree Harry. But I think it's too much hand work with more operations and solder than MM has time or desire for. He primarily sells parts cast in bronze and the mold process requires less labor. He has subcontractors for metal, tubing and resin bits.

A little sparkle... Something fun for a change; luggage rack #2 back from a bath in nickel plate. Pictures are poor - need to get outside light in. It has a gleam and a glow that is very bright and pleasing. Going under wraps in the storage box with its other sparkly sisters. Good incentive to push on with the hard stuff - which I'm doing.

Bugatti Type 35 Revival of Italy...small steps to a Pocher

Beautiful solder work Scott. Really perks this up. -
I'm not being facetious and know the difficulty of locating it BUT, nitromethane (race fuel) may work on that. I once stripped a 1:1 factory paint finish down to bare steel by wiping with a cloth. Try contacting Bill (Ace Garage Guy) and ask if he can help with experience or to locate some fuel. Race shops in your area may help also.

Only if I had your skills Harry. I'm wearing you guys down huh?? Wasting too much bandwidth? Don't blame youze. My intention, now that I've gotten to the doors, is to get complete prime and color on this spring as the warmer spraying weather arrives. And the doctor trips recede. No clear though while other cut and paste work gets done - like dicing the hood panels to fit. Then clear and polish. Then cover roof. Then do headliner, then,,,, arrrgh. Tony, I appreciate your faith and very kind thought.
