  1. Thanks all for the good info.
  2. Well yes. But I've used both and see little difference. And I honestly like bottle glue for hold but it doesn't set instantly. I also use the thin Zap, and the medium gap filling too. I fill seams with that and sand. Just wondered what the consensus is. I do find a short shelf life if you leave them open continuously while working.
  3. Dave's photos are great. A bit like the robo NFL character on Fox games, almost a transformer. But dynamic without over-worked surfaces. And the backside works, the '13's doesn't. This hood has no jazzy stuff in it. Probably close to what Harry wants to do. They should have gone with this one and done the engineering homework to get the Fed bumpers to pass.
  4. Thanks for your take. Does not seem to be many users.
  5. I made no attempt to conceal my bias-I criticized the styling heavily and praised the engineering lightly. My point being, if the styling were as world -class as GM likes to advertise, more buyers would surface. I disagree that they're content with their market share. As for the contention that those that can't afford one are the dislikers, I can afford one but still dislike the look. I realize I might be an exception but don't generalize about 'one car for everyone'. I grew up driving and racing the seminal iterations of Vettes up to '69. I stated my contention that after Mitchell and Duntov, Vettes lost credibility with me. In the time (28 years) I've owned my one hand-built sports car, I could have owned several generations of Vettes. I chose not to because none were as performance-capable as mine. Nor looked as good to my eye. And affordability was certainly not a factor.
  6. I don't buy that. If more people that could spend for it actually liked the look, they'd sell more cars. Isn't that the object of manufacturing an item-to expand your market?? Some of us here who don't like the look might actually buy one if we did like it. And GM is not so comfy yet as to be happy building to a small group of marque crazies.
  7. I don't notice much difference between this and regular Zap CA on styrene as far as grip goes. Bottle cement grips as well but is slower. What's your experience with this?
  8. A steering wheel right out of the Caddy parts bin?? Or is boy-racer Cadillac proud to have a Vette engine AND steering wheel? And Ace has it right- nothing works stylistically. Rectangular taillights fight for attention with FOUR ROUND exhaust cannons. Ferrari circus headlights. If your wife or GF had that many creases, you'd never turn the lights on. Look at '71 365 Daytonas and late Astons for simple, stirring, purity of line and beautiful form and proportion. And they are exciting as hell when standing next to them. This vette scream "GET EXCITED!"
  9. Not much help with a cam with 114 or so LSA and lift less than .650". And small ID headers and cats.
  10. Bernard has stated it perfectly. From an engineering standpoint I applaud several things. The move to less weight, excellent brakes, sensible tires. What kills that credibility is (still) the interior, upshift manual trans and a pushrod engine. A 'World-class' super car (groan) should have a millisecond 7 speed paddle shift trans-like the others. Period. I know all about the LS family and 7K is doaable from street pushrods but it seems the design / engineering group aims for the bottom denominator. Because they know there is a large core faithful to the marquee despite formulaic design. The leather jacket CCCA owners or the 'look-at-me schmucks. All the LeMans victory hoopla hasn't advanced the car's sophistication. And a 240Z roofline from the '70's doesn't either. As several pointed out, look to the Astons for what a street / track GT should be.
  11. Corvettes haven't been right since the Bill Mitchell and Zora Duntov days.
  12. The chrome objects are lights to illuminate the number on the door for night endurance races. These were used as license plate lights on street Cobras. The hoses are an elaborate crankcase ventilation system plumbed from diaphragms on the valve covers to the header collectors. This draws off oil vapor and pressure and is usually two hoses (one each side) to the collector common on drag race cars.
  13. I told him to test first. Also I've done that with positive results. Wouldn't suggest anything that hasn't worked for me.
  14. I didn't catch that-my bad. I apologize.
  15. Goo Gone on a Q-Tip. BUT-test on a painted spoon or scrap first.
  16. A little explanation or diagram of how it works or tutorial would be appreciated.
  17. Thanks-was worth the wait. I need a cigarette now... That was a ton of work even without the paint finish. Did you BMF all the chrome sweeps and accents or is that kit chrome? And I'm flinching seeing 6 wire wheels. Marvin's stuff is beautiful and the expense is secondary with results like that. What thickness is the Lexsan (expensive vs plex- no?) - I need to get some and the channel you used. You solved a ton of problems (the scratch folding top for example) with great craftsmanship. Great work Harry.
  18. Harry-I forgot how wonderfully instructional this thread was for us Pocher builders. Please take the Benz outside (if you have to) and shoot it so we can appreciate the scope of your work. Russ-any 1:1 auto metal polish will work. Mother's white paste is one.
  19. Cool-so you have big wALLS...
  20. Seriously Harry-how will you display them? A cabinet with doors? Surely you want them dust free. And I forgot-you also have the Benz done and Sedanca in process! Great if you have big rooms but...how will you group them? For my RR, I'm intending to do another of my glass cases for both display and storage. I know it will be a heavy sucker (and large) but I dread exposure to dust and humidity. All that unplated metal will turn in room humidity. And I just can't like plexi for the rag-scratching.
  21. I know they're big but you gonna display them on the dining room table??
  22. I agree Erik but many on here are hoping for $200+ models, not $400 to $600.
  23. As far as the historical movements of the company, I came across this: http://www.planetdiecast.com/index2.php?&option=com_content&task=view&id=64634&pop=1&page=0&Itemid=886 Some of you concerned with the history may already have cited some information from it.
  24. Jordan wants more body shots-charge those batteries---please???
