  1. It appeared after I wrote that and you edited your post. Thanks for the whole story.
  2. Please post descriptive captions for the images you post. Engine type? Car? Builder?
  3. Yes he does. I've sent framed glass art that way successfully.
  4. Very excellent tips from each of you-most appreciated. I've got to study each method and maybe combine for my particular piece. Thanks all.
  5. I'm contemplating shipping an assembled, near museum quality Pocher nearly 3000 miles. It will weigh at least 25 pounds and have a glass case. So maybe 40-50 pounds. Anyone have experience with packaging such a large, heavy model without it destroying itself? Maybe the commission builders? I'm trying to figure how to mount it solidly and protect it at the same time. Haven't got many good plans yet. Afraid of things like snapped-off parts and broken glass. I have shipped fair-sized, framed artwork (glass and mats) with no damage such a distance but this is beyond my experience. My Exoto 1/10th GT-40 came encased in a form-fitting 2 part foam block and a box designed to size. I have no way to duplicate that styrofoam though. Lacking a definite method, I realize I may have to scrap the idea. Any advice appreciated.
  6. Harry's got the magic key to the 'Search Room'...
  7. Yup-did too. And here's what I got; 16 results, all from this thread... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=search&do=search&fromMainBar=1
  8. Thanks Harry. I searched all combinations of Trumpeter / GT-40 / WIP / 1 /12 but came up empty. Whaja search??
  9. Mine was a WIP and Under Glass in 2010 but I can't find it either. It's the cover of MCM issue #156 also. That write up Casey featured is not a good indicator of the kit. Its value is to see the parts provided in the box. It was built by a very limited-skill modeler and his assumptions and conclusions are predicated on his limitations. An example is his inability to assemble the plumbing and omitting it but advising that it was unworkable. That's nonsense. Another is his praising the stock suspension which is most toy like and requires scratchbuilding for anywhere near accuracy. His color choices and love of the excess chrome is further away from a representative build. More recently, Eric Cole has built a magnificent one which buries mine but I can't find that one either. It also seems "mrknowetall"-does not. No source has been named for his statement.
  10. Don, What is your source for this information?
  11. After 'Countach', anything goes...
  12. I hear that Harry will turn his new Pocher LP-700 into this one with some scratchbuilding.....
  13. Future is equally effective as a barrier and a fraction of the cost. And it's at your supermarket...
  14. Casey, Mike DeRagon also asked for a tutorial in a civil way-just like Skip. Skip didn't seem to be belligerent about his request-nor did Mike. It's fine to thank Curtis and Steve for their contribution but Skip is not exactly some hoople that needs a seeing-eye dog. Skip has been an enormous contributor of research tips to any who ask and many who don't. As well as presenting many news-worthy, model-related items. He has also always demonstrated a fine sense of forum etiquette. If you think he could have phrased that sentence a little better you have the right to say so. However, I would have been mindful of that before posting such a harsh condemnation.
  15. Thank you Christian. Sounds yummy but somehow now I'm slightly disappointed...
  16. Please describe EXACTLY what that refers to...
  17. WOW! 1/2 thick glass! That's an impressive display you made there and homeless fish must be jealous... Way more than I need, maybe I'll look at 50 gal tanks-model only about 22" long. Thanks for the education-appreciate your response.
  18. Carl, Very nice set-up for your big collection. Mind showing that 100 gallon fish tank in more detail? Dimensions, brand and rough cost idea? I've been considering such for a large scale model.
  19. Cheer up-it's no worse than the 'Lightening'.
  20. ...if you remember that the lower port sections of the intake are half the head.
  21. Glad to see my logic held up.
  22. Strange that this is written in perfect English. Did someone write this for you? Find one of your countrymen who can translate English to your native language.
  23. Thanks Pete, I'll try that. I always clean the bottle tips with debonder.
  24. Good tip about cheap CA. I avoid the fogging bug by simply not using any CA near clear styrene.
