  1. Foiling is not done yet, but I did notice that the molded-in side markers are not correct. The side markers were flush with the surface of the fenders. I decided to utilize my side marker technique using common pins. I drilled a small hole into the side marker, inserted a small amount of glue and then the pin. I trimmed the excess pin length inside the fender. For the front side marker, I applied a dot of Tamiya X-26 Clear Orange. For the rear side marker, I applied a dot of Tamiya X-26 Clear Red. More to come...
  2. OK Skip, here's the pictures you had ask for. Enjoy!
  3. Charlie, don't quit your day job! And, thanks!
  4. Let the foiling begin! More to come.....
  5. Now that you have mentioned it, it does look like a smile! Too funny!
  6. Thank you Mike and Chuck! Chuck, if you look at the GTX body, the rear wheel arches are the same way...shaped wrong.
  7. Thank you guys! I enjoyed this build. The only issue I had was with the wheel center decals which broke apart as I tried to get them onto the wheels.
  8. Thanks Romell and Chris! I have been polishing the body and will start foiling soon.
  9. Thanks Luis!
  10. After looking over the AAR grille and the '71 Cuda body, there is the problem of space. Too much space between the fenders and the headlights. I decided to score the header line on the right (passenger) side of the body until it broke free. I glued the AAR nose in on the left (drivers) side and when that had set, I glued the right fender to the AAR nose and secured it with a couple of rubber bands. I removed the excess header length and will glue this down onto the AAR nose. I will putty the valance sides to the front fenders. More to come...
  11. Thanks Don! And, you're welcome! I have finished my SLR and it is posted in Under Glass. I would like to thank all those who took the time to view and to comment on my build.
  12. This is my Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren painted with Tamiya TS-17 Gloss Aluminium and built box stock.
  13. I click on my profile to access the menu and it goes right to my profile page. It's really hard to open the menu and click on a selection before the menu disappears and it goes right to my profile. I must be slowing down in my old age!
  14. Thanks Jim. I did not have a WIP on this forum for this model.
  15. That's because the clear covers are not on yet! The covers are mounted on the outside of the body after the taillights are mounted on the inside. I have achieved a turning point on the SLR...the body is starting to come together! The doors are in process. More to come...
  16. I found a picture of the completed XP Hemi Charger that my model was based on.
  17. I have sealed all my home-made decals with the Liquid Decal Film and have never had a problem with it. It should be compatible with the Testors decals paper.
  18. Last night, I completed the nose with lights and grille. The rear vent with markers and backup lights are complete and mounted to the body. I completed the taillight assemblies last night before turning in. I took a page from my photoetch experience and used clear gloss enamel to glue the clear lenses together instead of model glue which would marr the surface if I wasn't spot on with part placement. More to come...
  19. I found the Badger Paint Mixer to be one of those tools that you have to have! I don't use all the time, but it's there when I need it.
  20. Don, the seat color is Model Master Insignia Red, thinned and sprayed through my airbrush.
  21. That is a great looking Crown Vic, Nick! I like the responder lights!
  22. As I am getting closer to completing my Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, I have begun to think about this uncompleted build. I had lost interest in it and after reading one of my older builds elsewhere, I made the comment about completing my projects instead of just throwing them back into the box like I have done here. And now, I feel somewhat ashamed for doing so. This Hemi Road Runner is coming back out of the box and it will be completed. I want to wetsand and polish the body again and finish assembling. I owe it to myself and to all those who were following this build. My 1968 Plymouth Hemi Road Runner is back on the bench!
  23. This sounds like a good project! I built a similar version with a Ross Gibson 426 Hemi/4 speed, bucket seats and console from the AMT '70 Challenger R/T, but I kept the standard hood. Good luck on your project! http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y224/mrmike007/1971%20Dodge%20Charger%20RT%20Hemi/?action=view&current=1971DodgeChargerRTHemi-23.jpg
  24. The dash is finished and installed into the interior. A closeup of the dash showing the decals and the SLR metallic letters on the center stack. A view of the seats from over the dash. More to come...
  25. Thank you Don and Charlie! Charlie, you might see this one! The interior is coming along nicely. The dash is in progress. I need to add the instrument decals and the instrument pod to the dash. More to come...
