  1. No, they are not the kit tires. They are Pegasus 225/45-18s that I got from Scale Dreams. They are much better than the kit tires!
  2. I decided to wetsand the body as I found way too many flaws in the paint. After washing the body and letting it air-dry, I mock up the body, interior, and chassis to check for fit and then added the wheels and tires under the fenders to get an idea of what's it going to look like. Using some sheet styrene, I made the airbox. I will cut out a hole in the corner for the air tube. The Shelby GT500 has an open element air filter and with the kit air box removed, the tube wasn't long enough. I added a short piece of tube from the '06 Mustang air intake tube. More to come...

  4. Harry, didn't you feel the Earth go off axis when I built my '67 Impala SS some months back? I thought I was going to fall off the Earth when I built that model. And, I have two more Chevys to build and a '72 Olds as well! Yes, this Mopar guy is branching out into more unfamiliar territory. Wait a minute...I have always built Mustangs!!! What?!!
  5. Thanks Stephen! This one is coming along as I have hoped for. I haven't done anything on the body and with the chassis nearly finished, it's time to get going on the body again. I have found a couple of flaws in the paint after the last coat so i will need to take care of those and then sot the body again. I had to look at the IMCDB for the Mustang that was in I Am Legend and that is a red Mustang! I'll be looking forward to seeing your WIP.
  6. A little progress this afternoon. I finished detailing the K & N air filter. Mounted it to the air tube. A mockup on the engine. I'll start on the airbox next. More to come...

  8. ] Here is how I lower my '05 and up Mustangs. I take the rotors and remove part of the mounting ring from the back where it mounts to the suspension. Determine how low you want to lower your Mustang by placing a few index or business cards under the chassis. When you decide where your height will be, mount the rotors to the suspension. Then you can mount the wheels to the rotors with plastic rod or drill into the rotor center with a drill bit slightly smaller than the wheel mounting pins. If you have done everytthing correctly, your model will sit level. Keep in mind that lowering is limited to how wide a tire you use and how low you want to go.
  9. A little more progress. I replaced the shifter with a better one. And, the interior is done. I started working on the air filter and airtube. I still need to make an open airbox. More to come...

  11. Hi Stephen! I hope that you are riding high with good health for a good while! I get my Pegasus tires from Scale Dreams. http://stores.scaledreams.com/StoreFront.bok
  12. A shot of the interior under construction. After I took this picture, I decided that I didn't like the shift knob, so I'll change the shifter. More to come...
  13. OK, so since I was invited to join this CBP, I'll try to catch everyone up with my WIP that I have going in the On The Workbench section. I am starting with the Revell '07 Shelby GT500 kit. I'll be using a set of Pegasus 225/45/18 tires in place of the kit tires and Tamiya TS-49 Bright Red paint. The body is painted. The engine is complete and installed in the chassis. A shot of the completed chassis. More to come...
  14. A little progress tonight. I glued the seats together and started assembling the interior. I noticed that where the seats were attached to the sprue, the paint had collected and touching up didn't look good. I decided to swap the seat backs and glued the seats themselves onto opposite sides of the interior. With the sprue mounting points against the interior door panels, the bad spots cannot be seen. I used a shifter from my parts box instead of the kit shifter and painted the knob flat white. More to come...
  15. Well, at this point, the red is bleeding through the primer and I am not too sure how to proceed next. Strip the primer? Maybe I'll paint it flat black and then primer over the black? Or strip it and get some Future and then go from there? I could use a lttle advice.
  16. Question...is this the actual CBP or what? I have made some progress on my Shelby and I have posted it on my thread in On The Workbench. Can I post it here as well?
  17. OK Mark...here we go! I started on the GTO this afternoon by doing general cleanup of mould lines and flash which were minimal. Since Dwight's GTO is a hardtop and the kit is a coupe, I removed the door and window frames. And now, the part that I am not too fond off...hiding all that red plastic! This is several light coats of Kilz Sealer/Primer. This stuff is thick so wet sanding is in order when this stuff is dry. Not only did I do the body, but all the parts from the kit minus the chrome plated parts. More to come...
  18. Before I start on the interior, I wanted to get the wheels modified and out of the way. I started by removing the ribs from around the wheel. A mockup with one of the Pegasus tires to check the fit...perfect! A good coat of Model Master Aluminium Metalizer paint. More to come...
  19. The engine and radiator have been installed into the chassis. The front and rear suspensions have been detailed painted and installed. I have not installed the rotors yet as I modify them to lower the ride height after the chassis has been mated with the interior and the body. I will show that process when I get to that stage of the build. I'll start on the interior next. More to come...
  20. Yes, I did. Thanks!
  21. Mark, I was a bit disappointed when I found out that the show was filmed in New Orleans instead of Memphis. I felt the same when I started watching Rizzoli And Isles, which takes place in Boston, but is actually filmed in Hollywood. So far though, they seem to be getting names of portions of Boston correct. It would be better if they actually filmed in Boston, but I guess that would be too expensive. Spenser For Hire was cancelled in 1988 because ABC said it was too expensive to to shoot the series in Boston.
  22. Thanks Carl! And, welcome to MCM! George, as far as I am concerned, if you are going to nick-pick a kit, you are not enjoying the hobby. I have built a few kits that were not completely accurate looking and I enjoyed building each one of them. One kit that I enjoyed building very much was the re-issued '70 AAR 'Cuda. I saw all the things that were wrong with it and I still built a good looking model. I use to be a scale bigot, but if there is a subject that I want to build...I'll build it and build it to my satisfaction.
  23. I am currently building an '07 Shelby GT500 and I am considering joining this CBP. How long is CBP running for if you start it? BTW, Jada makes a Shelby GT500 kit if you want to include those.
  24. And, it works very well. I just place the panel into the doorway, close the slider against it and insert the vent hose. When I am done painting, I remove the hose and the panel, then I can close the door. It's a lot better than cutting a hole into the wall for the vent.
  25. It's amazing what you can learn from doing a little research. Unfortunately, some of the information out there is incorrect so you have to be careful and try to determine what is correct and what is faulty.
