  1. Thank you John! I appreciate that coming from the well respected builder that you are! I have seen your work which is awesome!
  2. I hope to see it then, Gordon!
  3. Thank you guys! I really do like this Starliner. It came out as I had hoped for. If I was to change anything, it would be to make the whitewalls a little wider.
  4. I have started deconstruction. The billboard decals will be replace with a set of hockey stick stripes. The chrome piece is the tail panel from the AAR. The '71 has a molded in tail panel. I'll score the tail panel and remove it and fit the AAR panel in. The '71 tail panel will eventually go into the AAR. The rest of the '71 Hemi 'Cuda in pieces and awaiting cleaning and repainting. More to come...
  5. Thanks for the support guys! This should prove to be an interesting project and challenge. Keep watching!
  6. When it was first introduced, I fell in love with Plymouth's 1970 Barracuda series. Especially the 'Cuda with it's 340 4-bbl. and all the way up to the awesome 426 Hemi! 1971 came and the 'Cuda became gaudy with the billboard graphics, fender vents and ugly grille. About a month ago, I saw a model of a '70 'Cuda and the builder says it was made by Monogram. What?!! Monogram?!! How can that be? The builder described his build as a '71 Hemi 'Cuda with the front and rear pieces from the '70 AAR 'Cuda. The more I looked, the more i wanted to build one for myself. Why didn't I think of this before??? I happen to have both of these models sitting on the bookcase, coated with dust, and in need of repair. I will deconstruct both models and turn the '71 into a '70 using the AAR pieces and fill in the fender side vents. I'll wire and plumb the engine and lower the suspension. I will turn the AAR 'Cuda into a phantom '71 AAR 'Cuda later. This is gonna be GREAT! More to come... BTW...I am well aware of the issues with both of these kits and I refuse to discuss them. If you want to discuss them, do it elsewhere...not here!
  7. My '60 Starliner is complete and posted Under Glass. I would like to thank all those who took the time to comment and to view my WIP.
  8. This is my completed '60 Starliner painted with Model Master Acalpulco Blue Metallic and Tamiya Racing White with a tu-tone blue interior.
  9. One of the great things about these old cars, is that there is plenty of room to work on it. Luckily, the support wasn't glued in too securely and I was able to wiggle it out. It just slides in between the fenders without hitting anything along the way. I'm hoping to have the Starliner finished this weekend.
  10. I like the looks of your Charger with what appears to be the Torquethrust wheels and tires from the '69 Shelby GT 500. I'm curious, what did you do to lower the front?
  11. Last night I polished the body and hood with Meguiars Scratch X and tonight the I glued the body to the chassis. In order to get the front of the body positioned correctly and glued, I removed the radiator core and support and used a couple of my special clothespins to clamp the front of the body down. With the hood on. I still like the stance! More to come...
  12. Chuck, I agree! I look at the models I have built in the past and realize that I need to improve on certain areas. Sometimes, I'll pull one off the shelf and rebuilt it. I now have a few ideas for some of my models sitting on the shelf that are in need of some refubishment.
  13. Chuck, the interior floor may be warped and pulled the interior down and leaving the side panels and dash against the windshield. Are you going to straighten it out? It'll require taking the model apart. Not good news, but it can be done. Anyway, thanks for you input and replies!
  14. Thanks Jim! I can't take all the credit, which partially goes to the Tamiya paint. I also seem to be better at a spray can than with my airbrush!
  15. Thank you Mr. Most and Mr. Harry! The clear really brought out the color and now that I can see it all nice and shiny, I think it looks great!
  16. I got back to the bench, finally! I clear coated the body, hood, and other parts with Tamiya TS-13 Gloss Clear. More to come...
  17. Thanks Dr. Cranky! I got my Cranky brand vitamins and took a bunch! I'm feeling better already! Finally back to the bench! I painted the scripts with Testors Gold enamel. Then I got the body into the paint booth for two coats of clear. Not shown is the hood which also got two coats of clear. More to come...
  18. This whole thing with the firewall has left me feeling a bit unsettled. I did a mock up with the body and I cannot see the holes in the firewall. So, any attempt at filling or covering them may result in some type of damage to the interior and I don't want to risk that. I tried my best at an explanation. Sorry if you don't understand.
  19. What a great looking '60 Starliner! I like it a lot! I am not worried about the "holes" in the floorboard/firewall area. I figured that when it ia all assembled, it wouldn't show anyway especially since I haven't read or heard anything about it being an issue. BTW, did I say what a great looking Starliner? Oh, I did!
  20. I really like this! I have both the green AAR and the purple Hemi 'Cudas sitting side-by-side on the shelf and I have never thought about kit bashing them together. Now I am saying to myself, "Why didn't I think of that?" Excellent job!
  21. I have wanted to get this kit, but i have heard horror stories about building it. Your build may change that opinion. Keep up the good work!
  22. Jim, that is the one thing that I have been screaming at Detroit about for some time. Bring back the stylists and designers...engineers can't design a car that the public really wants. That is the firewall. The hole is also on the drivers side. On the engine compartment side, that "hole" or outreach is over a frame mount for the body. Roger and Jim, I have had some luck clearing over foil. Right now, it seems to be working for me just as long as I go very easy on the clear. I really like using Tamiya gloss clear as it goes on smooth and seems to be self-leveling. My luck with Testors clear has not been good and I prefer not to use it.
  23. Thanks Jim and Ian! The link and picture are a big help. Right now, I am leaning towards just a chrome star, but I'll think on it for a bit. Thanks again!
  24. Thanks Jim! The one thing that is bothering me is the color of the stars. You say that they are gold plated and every picture and resource I have looked at shows them to be silver or chroem plated with a light blue center. I am unable to find a good picture of the C-pillar with the stars. Can you supply me with one? If not, then I'll just go with chrome and the blue center. Thanks.
  25. Thanks guys! It is amazing how much of a change is made when foil is applied. I'll buff the foil to a brilliant shine and then it is off to the paint booth for clearcoat.
