  1. Starting to piece together items for the chassis... I had to shorten the chassis pan some and then also shorten the interior pan so I can get a proper firewall built... I cut off the stock front end from the Nova chassis and am going to use the "strut" front end from the "Pro Street Thunderbird of Matt and Debbie Hays" along with most of the rollcage... Then my wife show's up with a package for me from an Ebay auction that I had won... Great! It is the '70 AMX conversion kit that I had ordered before I had received my kit from Missing Link, Let's open it up and have a look! Well!!! Much to my surprise and disgust, I can't really believe my eyes... Who in heavens name would ACTUALLY want to sell a piece of S**T like this??? Is there absolutely "No" integrity or personal pride in craftsmanship anymore?! This is my first time with a resin kit, so I haven't really been around the block, but c'mon, there is no way I would be willing to sell someone a product that looks like this, especially when they want me to give them feedback?!?! Have a look, enjoy tonight's entertainment! I'm sure that my camera will not do justice for the pics as you should really see them, I don't have enough pixels... All I can say is that luckily I only paid $11.00 for the auction( which I could have lost $30.00...) and AGAIN, a big "Thank You!" to Missing Link for putting out a beautiful product!!! I don't know if you can see it, but the hood is warped and very thin in spots, not to mention the detail around the scoop opening is virtually nil... The grille is worthless to try and save as is the rear taillight panel... The dash isn't as bad but still sucks! Sorry for my rant but I am disgusted and amused at the same time! If anyone wants the sellers name to steer clear of let me know! 'Til next time....
  2. Looks great so far! I might have to pick up one of these kits, it looks like a fun build...!
  3. I found a couple of pics of the car that is my inspiration for this build. I am going to build this as I would want my own to be... The paint color will be a candy orange with a white C-stripe.
  4. My donor kit is the JoHan "Drag-On Lady" kit of Shirley Shahan. I have had that kit laying around for years just waiting for the right moment to come along and this is it! You can get them up on Ebay... I had been watching the AMX section for a while and there are usually 4-6 of them up there at any one time... MADmodelDOCTOR, as for an engine I don't think anyone offers it in resin, you'll just have to buy an old kit and scrounge from that... I have been trying to decide whether or not to use the amc engine or drop in a chevy, I think I will try to use the amc... I'll have to see how the detailing looks on the engine. I found out today that I am supposed to be done with 6 day work weeks now so hopefully I can get to building on some sort of a regular basis...
  5. Nice work, I think it looks great!
  6. Hi Everybody, Well, since being new here, you guys have seen a few of my previous builds since I had gotten back into the hobby... Finally, "Thanks!" to Kevin at Missing Link, I am able to start on my dream build of an 1970 AMX. I have wanted to build one for so long it's not even funny. I hope to make this my first contest model, we'll see how it goes... I am going the "Pro Street" route as I have a buddy from my hometown area that had one and I was always envious of that car, it was beautiful! I'll try to be consistent with updates on the build, but that will depend on my work schedule... So, follow along and enjoy! This is as I received the kit from Missing Link... Here is a pic of the chassis that I want to use( white one ), It is from the AMT Pro Street Nova ( '66-'67 ). I had already started trimming the chassis pan before taking these pics, so I took one with an additional chassis next to it so you can compare the few differences that are noticeable so far... I think I'll take another pic when it is done.... I am going to have to shorten up the chassis, I just haven't figured out how much yet... And here is how it is shaping up for now... OK, That's all I have for the moment, I am laying aside all the various parts and pieces that I have been scrounging up... More pics to come!
  7. Looks real nice! I like the engine treatment a lot! Looks just like the "Fastest Street Cars" that were all over the Hot Rod magazine articles in the '90's!
  8. Thanks for the tip... I called and the number was no longer working, so I'll drive by that address sometime and have a look-see...
  9. I am speechless, I never would have 'thunk it'... that just oozes "COOL!" all over!!!!!!
  10. Your Bee looks very nice! I like it!
  11. I'm originally from Valparaiso....!
  12. I checked out this thread and was impressed.... Then I went to Youtube and saw some drag racing vids... now I want to try this!!! Anybody know if there are any tracks in the Phoenix,Az areas? Thanks! Steve
  13. Thanks guys, I will check them out!
  14. Hi Guys, I was doing a little cruzin' on the net and found that Fred Cady decals is no longer in business.... Now, because I'm a late bloomer on this particular tidbit of info, can anyone point me in a nice direction for obtaining musclecar decals? Thanks! Steve
  15. Hi Dan, Actually, I just picked up a '41 Willys and '68 Charger from there this past Saturday as a matter of fact. That store is right down the street from me... For some reason, it seems to me, like they had more of a selection when they were in the old location at the other end of the strip mall...? Maybe I was just there when they didn't have much inventory on the shelf... Dunno! I used to like going to the Hobby Bench over at, like, Bell and 53rd ave???? But, now that I'm over here in Mesa, I don't get over that way too often. I think the Hobby Bench inside of Paradise Valley mall also had a nice selection but I haven't been ther for some time either... I was just hoping that since coming here to this forum, that you guys might have a "secret" mecca that you go to get "stuff" from.... I appreciate the tip though and will continue to check that store out Dan! Hope to meet you guys soon! Steve
  16. Can you guys tell me where you think the BEST store in the valley is to get models/ supplies? I'm over here in Mesa and not real impressed! Thanks! As soon as December is over I'll see about getting hooked up with the clubs, work is a little too crazy right at the moment...
  17. Hi All, Can anybody tell me about an MPC kit's scale... I haven't seen any in this scale before and am curious about parts availability... I saw an MPC "Lightning" AMX kit that supposedly is in 1/20 scale. Has anybody built this kit and were you able to get aftermarket parts for it? Thanks, Steve
  18. Well, this sucks.... I am looking for an '70 AMX conversion and Reliable Resin seemed to be the only place to find it, I got an email from Don to contact him and we would discuss the details... But, I'm afraid to go any further with this! I understand the 4-6 wk delivery time but I also understand "prompt" customer service... if you want to be in business, the customer always comes first! I'm too new here to "rant" about someones service but I hope he can remedy the situation quickly and make everybody happy.... It will bode well for his business! I want my conversion kit.......!
  19. Thanks for showing us the process invovled! I'm sure I will have a use for one of those in the near future... Any link to where you got it from? Thanks! Steve
  20. The paint job looks sweet! Good luck with the rest of the build!
  21. Thanks guys! I'll check out the website and see about hooking up with you guys... Steve
  22. Sweet build! Very clean, lots of detail! I'm gonna have to grab one of these kits...

    '74 RRUNNER

Very nice!!! That is a sweet RoadRunner! Along with everyone else, I love the paint scheme!

    1970 Camaro...

Thanks for the compliments guys! Hey Vizio, I don't remember any specific fit issues, maybe just check the depth of fit on the rear spoiler, I think I should have checked mine a little closer... I basically just threw this one together because I was freshly tired from the Fairlane and the SuperBee builds and wanted to keep going but didn't want to get "burnout" right after 3 models just getting back into the hobby....
  25. Hi All! I'm looking for a club preferably in the Mesa,Az area as that's where I live but Phoenix will do as well... I appreciate any info you could forward to me! Thanks and hope to see you on the tables!
