GETTING MY LONESTAR TODAY!!!!
Chad replied to Chad's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
well I picked it up today ( crazy work schedule with the air show and all here on base )....I picked up 2 cans of black paint and now I have to find out where to get BMF from? my LHS has none and they only carry the black chrome BMF....I really want regular chrome...also trying to find an italeri 48' reefer whether it be a built-up saveable or a NIB from someone, I posted in the wanted section....but I doubt it lol Chad -
GETTING MY LONESTAR TODAY!!!!
Chad posted a topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
so my local Hobby Shop finally got them in and they ordered two....the only bad thing( not that bad if the kit is as good as I hear )....is the price is 75.00.....hopefully it's definitely worth everything....now I just need to find a trailer to go with it....anyone got any ideas? custom stretched AMT reefer that's been updated to new style, the beall, or the possibly the italeri reefer? I really am thinking about the italeri reefer or custom building the stretched AMT....Im thinking in totally about blacking out one of them( wheels and all, no chrome what so ever ).... Chad -
Revell KW ( my style ) PICS FINALLY ADDED!!!
Chad replied to Chad's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I lowered it by shaving down the front springs as well as the rear air bags and also thinning out the front axle. it was actually really easy....it also looks lower than it is because I made cab and sleeper panels that make it look ALOT lower than it is, especially with lowering the fuel tanks and the step boxes to go along with the cab panels. Thanks for the compliments as well Stewart, that is by far one of the hardest paint jobs I've done since it was a " 3 tone ".....the pearl is practically its own paint color. I will try to get some better pictures of them as well another picture of my newest project( triple axle snap tite kw with a 36" snap pete bunk molded on )....dont have much time to build before I deploy, unfortunately I leave in 3 months and wont have time to build a lonestar Chad -
so yesterday I started sort of a heavy hauler build....I took the snap kw and stretched the frame, added a steer axle, cut off the sleeper and grafted the pete single bunk sleeper from that snap kit, and added the front bumper from the italeri ford wrecker kit. I am going to go pick up the flatbed for it tonight, I'll be using AMT's flatbed and possibly making it a set of Michigan steel trailers with side skirts and all....I'll post pics up, this is the first model I've worked on in a while now since the end of the cold season, I've been rebuilding and showing my 1/1 truck again lol. not much time to build anymore with a deployment coming soon either. an older build of mine....and my 1:1
Chad replied to Chad's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
There's just something about a clean lifted truck. I'm going to be building my dream truck in scale soon ( OBS f350 CC with a stepside bed on 44's ). It will have a solid axle swap, I really want some 44" tires on like a 20" rim ( anyone know who makes some? ) with a single 8" stack, and the new CTD that someone here is casting. As for my 1/1 I'll be putting down some HP and TQ numbers here next week -
Picked up a new project( to go with my is )
Chad replied to Chad's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I want the mail kit to make turnpike triples....it looks sweet behind my kw now, triples would be awesome but I hate that little ford LOL. I want to order some 2 hole budds for all of them. Chad -
Picked up a new project( to go with my is )
Chad replied to Chad's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I wasn't sure about the two dollies. I thought it was kind of odd that it came with 2 dollies and 2 trailers.....kinda odd. I was thinking about getting one of the mail truck kits and only using the trailer and running a set of triples. I haven't decided yet, I know it's going to need one big display case LOL Chad -
I went and got the original issue of the CF doubles yesterday ( for 39.99 factory sealed ) and put the boxes together last night.... My question is though I got all the parts to build 2 single axle dollies( minus 3 tires ).... Was this me getting lucky or did they come with 2 dollies? I plan to build 1 box as a newer fedex style smooth/low sided trailer and the other as box stock. The only addition I made so far is a spare tire carrier and safety chains. Pretty excited! Chad

LOL especially when you have 10" of lift. My stock horn isn't even hooked up anymore it goes right to my valve for the train horns. Chad -

Revell KW ( my style ) PICS FINALLY ADDED!!!

thank you, it definitely is a VERY versatile kit, I do like building right out of the box, but it's definitely more fun to be creative!!! Chad -
Revell KW ( my style ) PICS FINALLY ADDED!!!

I finally got the pics to load....I do however need to order a few things for it( MCG Piano hinges, and some J bracket headlights, as well as some minor things )....there is still alot needing to be done to this, I still have to detail the motor, paint the motor( I haven't decided to paint it CAT yellow or match the truck ), detail the interior, and detail the brake and air lines and such....still alot to do but it's coming along slowly.... Chad -
these are pictures of a truck i built when I was about 16 years old...I happened to find the pics, unfortunately I don't have the model anymore. it was pretty sweet though, it had working LED's in the scratchbuilt offroad bumper. I had scratchbuilt bullhauler style stacks( roughly scale 8" stacks ), I had it lifted a scale 12" and used the I think it was tamiya???? hilux edition trucks and used 6 of those tires and wheels( scale 39.5" Super Swamper TSL's...) and here's a picture of my 1/1 scale f350( the one on the right )....it's lifted 10" on 37" toyo mud terrains with 24x12" xd rockstars, I put a 2008 front clip and other body accessories( mirrors, tailgate, rollpan, door handles ) from a 2008 as well, it is a complete 2008 clone. I custom painted the front and rear ford emblems to match the truck and the interior is just as done up( 20" tv in the roof, full stereo-2-12" audiobahns, 1-10" audiobahn, 2500 watt audiobahn amp, 7" dvd player in the dash, xbox hookups )....it's not a ton of performance but it's enough to run roughly 450 hp to the wheels....5" exhaust, intake, stage 1 injectors, custom tunes, and propane injection.... Im getting ready to actually custom build an older style f150 bed( 92-96 stepside ) for this truck with dual tanks ( one for a Waste Veggie Oil system )....oh and it's got train horns here's what it used to look like.... and here's what it looked like before that...( about a week after I bought it ) hope you all like them... ps, I've got a thing for lifted trucks LOL Chad

As promised, here are the in progress pictures of my revell kenworth( with my own twist ). The truck started as a snap kit in which I have streched the frame out, added a revell t900 Australian hood( thanks JimB ) that I shaved the headlights, I cut open all the doors( they're just set in place so I don't lose them, the sleeper door had a window added. The truck has been lowered in stance by roughly 4-5". I added a set of real aluminum breahers I made when I was in highschool, aluminum pipes with evergreen brackets, a real aluminum chicken wing and a wing I thehood from tony Malone( parts I got years ago, and a set of turnpiker fenders that I got as well I. Parts. The colors are TESTORS copper metallic and M.M black, both covered by M.M gloss pearl clearcoat. The nameof it is "Coppertop". As for the trailer, it's an italeri ABC Express pup trailer that was stretched and made tandem, I'll be building a container out of it. Let me know what you think! SORRY FOR THE CRAPPY CELL PHONE PICS... Chad

Chad replied to BigBlockLyle's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Ohiochris, where did you get the ram-air style hood on the white dually? Chad -
need a dually.....or crew cab
Chad replied to Chad's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Greymack, pm me how much you need for it. I won't need the tires though, I'll be using semi wheels and tires. I would however need a single cab and interior bucket seat for said single cab( parts box ) to make a crew cab..... And I'd need a cowl hood too. Please let me know. Chad -
No no, I paid 250 for 4 of them, they have more. If you'd like I can ask them about shipping, they have a TON of older ant kits for cheap. I think I'm going back to get the old AMT cornflake doubles for 39.99. Chad
