  1. Yeah I have the galaxie and hate the mount, so I built a fully articulating 5th wheel. Chad
  2. I had this exact same feeling the other day. I went to a hobby shop who deals strictly in models, I walk to the truck section and he has 7 sealed big rig SETS. Needless to say the wife told me to buy 3 or 4 at only 75.00 a set! He also has the original California hauler for 49.99! I know your excitement! Ibought the schoitz, Pabst, Budwieser and doors light and he gave me all 4 for 250, knocking 50 bucks off because I bought so many!!!!! But remember you have to ship the built model home and they usually break in shipping. Have fun and be safe over there. I also got the italeri canvas side ABC expess trailer for 20 bucks, my wife wanted to kill me LOL, I'm thinking about going back for more Chad
  3. Dear Tim, this probably belongs in a personal message, but here goes....it is definitely truck related so I thought I would post this here. Thank you for what you do in the hobby, I remember when I was a young( er ) kid building model( when plasticcowboy.com was still up and you ran it ). I remember looking on that site for all of your builds and sending in 2 of my models ( an early kenworth snap kit and a ford ltl9000--lone wolf ) that I mated to a livestock trailer I built...I remember looking at your other builds and realizing how much my builds could have been better....you have insprired me as a model builder since I really got into this hobby...just a little bit ago I was cruising your site again and saw you with the make a wish foundation AGAIN MAKING DREAMS COME TRUE!!! I just wanted to say thank you for what you do for the personality, and well being, as well as the creative level of this hobby, I also want to say thank you for what you do OUTSIDE of this hobby. Working with the make a wish foundation is most definitely a MAJOR achievement and with my final life goals I can once again look up to you....and in doing so I say thank you sir for who you are. Chad Hessey I'm sure other builders will agree with this but I wanted them to see it as well
  4. that is the right one....however I have decided to COMPLETELY scratchbuild my own MAC or Great Dane 48' flatbed....with true floor arch and all Thank you though! Chad
  5. that looks AWESOME!!! I'd love to get one of those visors, I'm a chrome guy myself lol....beautiful build!!! keep up the great work!!! Chad
  6. I was on here last night and was looking through and found the "ideas" for the amt flatbed trailer....well I wanted to go buy theirs....with a few minor changes for a 48' flatbed for the kenworth I'm building right now....can anyone point me in the right direction... Chad
  7. do you have any plans to do the ones for the italeri kits? I would be interested in a set of those, but I never really liked the 22.5" tire/wheel design amt had out....also do the outer trim rings come as a seperate piece or do the tires just slide between the lips like a real rim? Chad
  8. yeah I found that one, I actually want to build the newer style because that's what I own, but if I did use the monogram one I'd need two to replicate my old 1/1 94 f350 crew cab.....I had a 94 with a 7" RSK lift and 7" bull hauler stacks and semi wheels and tires that I'd want to build it like... Chad
  9. hey Scott( trailer mechanic ) you decide to sell one of those italeri freightliners let me know LOL I've been wanting to build one of those fld's forever! Chad
  10. I am building the galaxie 38' gooseneck right now( not impressed by the way ) and I am looking for the next build....the pulling truck. does anyone know where I could find a 1/24-1/25 scale f350 crew cab shortbed or a crew cab dually truck? I really want a 99-newer f350 to pull this trailer on semi wheels and tires....please help if you know ANYWHERE!!! Chad
  11. So I'm turning this into my build thread lol. I am currently building the snap revell kw....as of right now I have a 300" stretched wheelbase, 4" lowered suspension, 1/24th wheels and tires from italeri, mid sized chicken wing, 8" stacks, 24" texas bumper, double hump rear fenders....I opened up all of the doors and waiting to get some MCG piano hinges, redone the interior, backwall and all the doors for them to be suicide doors. I am also waiting on my new hood for it ( thanks Jim B! ) But I will be using a revell of germany t900 hood and shaving the headlights, turns and everything off the fenders( basically a jones performance hood ) and using double J headlights. I need to pick a paint scheme, build lower cab panels and a few other things before its ready for anything.....I was thinking banana yellow pearl and black for paint matched to a great dane dry van stretched to 48' with a tandem spread on air ride.....ill post pics soon... Chad
  12. Where did you find a 1/24th scale f350? That is one bad truck you built there! I have a 2000 crew cab shortbed I've been wanting to build. Its a 2000 that I've cloned to be an 08 and lifted 10" on 37" tires with 24" rims....please let me know where you got that model! Chad
  13. very nice build. I actually need a set of those tires LOL. I am getting ready to build a custom pulling truck and the galaxie 38' triaxle gooseneck using an f350 as the puller...pretty sweet looking though. Chad
  14. Thanks so much guys. Jim I messages you about the hood. I put the aerodyne on my revell hood( built truck ) and it did fit perfectly, I am going to order the bumper and visor from Ryan and the fenders from porkys. Thanks again guys! Chad
  15. JimB where did you get the wing on that kw? it looks like a really nice build....I don't have pictures of mine yet but I built the revell/germany kw( red box art ) and stretched it out/sleek paint. I also built the beall tanker and revell/germany alaskan hauler as a tandem axle, stretched it out, chromed it out and painted it neon green and black to match the beall...they look pretty sweet...right now I'm building something new but can't say it's a 2010 build....although it started in 2010 LOL Happy New Year guys! Chad
  16. I am building the revell/monogram kw w900 right now, so far I have lowered the suspension ( about 4 scale inches ) and put on some 1/24 wheels and tires....and I don't really like the tires( from the italeri ford kit )....I am looking for a few things and proper ideas to update the truck...where can I order stylish pipes( pickett style elbows and at least 10" scale monster stacks ), a kw texas drop visor( aluminum ), a texas bumper( aluminum ), and possibly find a revell of germany hood? one of you guys updating/swapping out the kw hood or something if you're willing to sell that let me know, I don't have much to trade since I'm getting back into the hobby....also looking for some NON amt style tires more of a street than offroad tire for the 1/24 rims but will have a lower profile....also where am I able to get some cab extentions if they make them? the chicken light runners? my plans are: update the hood with the longer edition lower the suspension add cab/sleeper fairings at the rear add medium size sleeper air foil( chicken wing ) lowER profile tires stretch the frame to roughly 280-300" aluminum( vortox style ) air cleaners( italeri pete kit-----hopefully I can find some ) resin rear dual wheel fenders...found some on porkys I think???? and mate it to a lowered amt dry van stretched to 48' with spread axle on air ride I love chrome...lol please help if you have any idea on where to get the hood and such I really need some help on this one guys it's a big order!!! OH and I'll post pics too lol Chad
  17. man I really can't wait to put in an order for one or two of these trucks, it is so nice to see NEW models being brought out by companies! and to say that it doesn't really fit well with the trailers is an understatement....those trailers are so old looking that they don't even match in comparison....Tim have you built the italeri trailer kit yet? I'd like to see what it would look like in front of one of those trailers... Chad
  18. awesome, the one I want to build would be this black and blue one on Hanks truck pics, it is the 4th row down...so I look like Ill be ordering that hood, texas style bumper, turbo wing set, I found those fenders somewhere I can't remember where though???? it might have been Porkys...and I'll be building my own stretched sleeper.and than some of those wheels and tires for KFS...does anyone know of an american dealer of KFS so I can get them faster? Chad
  19. no most of the lowered trucks actually have lowered suspensions....is the transtar you are talking about the 4300 or the transtar II? I would prefer a long nose....in which case does anyone know of a company that makes the 9300 hood? if not how hard would it be to make the 9300 hood from the 4300 hood? or even a pete hood? Chad
  20. does anyone make a resin set of 24.5" low pro tires? I really want to build a lowered pete and it would be better to have some low pro tires for it, otherwise where can I buy some of the tires from the amt pete kit aftermarket? I'd prefer a set of street looking tires with a low sidewall rather than the pete tires as they look more offroad than anything....it's been a while since I've bought aftermarket parts. Chad
  21. it's definitely for sleeping and a pretty cool idea really....my dad bought an old 88 f350 and I drove it for a while, in the morning I would ride with him to work( we both worked at the same lumber mill, that actually supplied all of those trailer companies near Elkhart Indiana ) and when we would go to work I would sleep in the bunk until it was time to clock in.........about an hour of sleep extra.... Chad
  22. so what's the status on this kit? I'm getting very anxious for it to get out!! I can't wait. Chad
  23. yeah Art that's me. wierd how people grow up. I joined the military about 3 1/2 years ago and now live in va beach with my wife and kid( 16 months ). I have a 1/1 scale f350 that is my main hobby, I build that for the most part and build models every now and than( haven't built one in almost a year ) and want to build one here pretty soon. the main measurements I need for the trailer are things like the siding and length and also the distance between axles and that sort of thing, I want to completely scratchbuild everything. Chad
  24. is that kit just the 378 with the 377 sleeper on it? or is it a newer style 379 hood with it? I'd buy one if it was an exd hood version but Im afraid to spend 75 bucks to find out. Chad
  25. if you don't mind me asking what did that kit cost you? I'd like to build a 1/24 replica of my 1/1 scale truck. Chad
