That's the one. I have that same issue of it in my stash.

That would only have applied to Passenger V8s. Truck V8s ran several different colors over the years, with Gray being common on the 1/2 through 1 1/2 ton V8s during the '50s, and green during the '60s. The different colors were for a quick identification of what the engine was without having to check the serial number codes. Here's a list compiled by VCCA from 1912-1966 of Chevrolet engine colors.http://1954advance-design.com/Web%20images/PPIP/PPIP-1912-1966-EngineColors.html

By "bottom", are you meaning the chassis? The chassis on the Tri-5 Chevrolets is more or less the same for all three years, with only a few changes. Also, the '56 265 engine would also be correct for a '57, it was the base V8 for, 2 bbl only, and was painted a chartreuse yellow color.

I'll agree with that with one possible exception, I have seen headlamps installed wrong on 1:1 vehicles, with the diffusing pattern tilted to one side or the other. Usually, it's due to a damaged headlamp housing not allowing the lamp to sit properly. If one is building a clunker type vehicle, I could see overlooking that if it was done on purpose.

If you don't mind large scale, MPC did one in 1/16 scale that's pretty nice.

For a Post Apocalyptic Future, they sure seem to have plenty of access to rare vintage tin to make their equipment from!

GMC "Big Block" V6 and 702 "Twin-Six"
Longbox55 replied to 1972coronet's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Most likely, what you saw was a '60-'74 GMC. -
On older cars and trucks (early '80s and older) it is not unusual to find them with chrome or even polished stainless wiper arms and blade holders, especially on '40s and '50s vehicles. On modern vehicles, the wiper bades themselves are not necessarily black, either. The newer silicon blades are commonly found in a medium gray color. Not all vehicles with a radio have an external or visible antenna. As mentioned, some have them as part of the windshield glass ('73-'87 GM trucks for example), and I have seen a few from the '30s that had the antenna built in under the headliner.

Or in some cases, the wheel is centered on the model, when on the 1:1, it is not centered. Rear wheels on many older light trucks ('47-'54 Chevrolet for example), the rear wheels actually sit about 1 1/2" to 2' forward of the fender opening centerline. A little o/t, but the shift on modern wheel balancing is to steel weights instead of lead. The steel weights are coated, and are more of a metallic silver than the darker grayish silver of lead.

'47 Chevy 8-bolt steel wheels
Longbox55 replied to drifterdon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=82097 The second wheel pictured, listed as a "16.5" wheel, is pretty close. I'm not really familiar with "Hatari!" or the truck used in it, but I do know those old Chevy trucks, the 8 lug trucks would have either had a 15" (3/4 ton) or 17" (1 ton) split rim wheel. Would not be a hard conversion from the resin pieces to make the 17" version. -
I use a 1/4" thick 36x18 sheet of stainless steel for mine. It's bolted down to the bench with 7/16" countersunk bolts. I have a second sheet the same size that's being used as the base for my spray painting area. Got both of them free, they were originally mounted under the rear slip plates on our old Rotary 2 post alignment rack we scrapped when we upgraded to the Hunter Hawkeye Elite system.

Midnight cowboy wrecker?
Longbox55 replied to Petetrucker07's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, the GMC wrecker does have a different bed from the Midnight Cowboy. It is not a pickup bed, though. I don't recall who made the 1:1 version, Century perhaps, but I have seen them in person. My Uncle Louis had an '80 Chevrolet K30 with one of those beds on it. -
Midnight cowboy wrecker?
Longbox55 replied to Petetrucker07's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=75490&hl= This thread should pretty much cover anything you would want to know about those kits. The best part of the Midnight Cowboy is the wrecker bed itself, would be great if Revell would offer it on its own. -
Don't see anything like that around here, but then again, Illinois roads would pretty much destroy a truck that sat that low! Out here, high ride height is your friend.

New 15" Wheels for Light Trucks
Longbox55 replied to Chief Joseph's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
A 15" 8 lug would be an oddity really anytime after the early '60s, or at least from an oem standpoint. By the late '60s and well into the mid '80s, most 3/4-1 ton trucks used either a 16 or 16.5 wheel, a 15 would not clear the brakes on them without grinding the calipers. However, I have seen aftermarket 8 lug 15s, mostly early '80s when the lifted 4x4 scene really started to boom. Even then, 16.5s were more popular. Nice thing, though, is the 1/24 wheels should scale out to right at about 16.5 in 1/25 scale, so it's still a win in my book. -
You're partially correct. It is considered a sequel of sorts to the original Mad Max, as the story takes place more or less right after the events of that film, but before the events of Road Warrior. On the other hand, it is also a reboot. One thing of note, Hugh Keays-Byrne (the Toecutter in the original) is going to be in it as "Immortion Joe".

MAD '57 Ford Four-Door Sedan transkit
Longbox55 replied to Chuck Most's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
The AMT '60 Chevy Pickup has the engine you're looking for. IIRC, Ken does have the correct air filter to convert it to the Passenger version. Kris, body looks awesome! -

Those are pretty cool. Have you considered doing a 6 lug version for the GM 4x4 trucks? -
