  1. your right. they are backwards. opps! the slicks do wrinkle excessively when a car takes off, but under that very low tire pressure, after time they start to wrinkle sitting still. maybe not to the point that these tires are molded, but oh well. i like the way they look squated down like they have low pressure instead of looking like a over inflated slick. offer any advice you guy want to. im open to opinions and any comments.
  2. heres a mock up of the wheels and tires
  3. w'll unfortunatley this is going on the back burner. work has picked up finally and i'll be going through a divorce. so until i get a new house, i wont be getting any work done on the chevy. thanks for all your interest.
  4. i registered on that site and im trying to get new leads. thanks for the info!
  5. man im really bummed out now. my last lead for pictures of this cAr just burned up. i dont think i'll be able to get decals made for it.
  6. heres some slow progress. ive got a ton of sanding and body work to do now. still waiting for my wheels and tires to show up. i'll post a mock up pic when i get them. i know its not 100% accurate, but works for me.
  7. thanks for the words of encouragement. well the firewall has to be totaly scratch built. the stock stuff wont work now that the front clip is removed. i used a piece of styrine to go across the top of the cowl. the sides were really giving me trouble. i just couldnt get the right shape to match the doors. then it hit me. since i butchered the "spirit" model anyway, i could cut up the flip front end (im sure someone will hate me for that)that perfectly matches the shape of the doors. so here is the front fenders mounted to the inside of the doors on the 150. i'll put up more pictures when i get the whole firewall scratched up.
  8. my thoughts exactly on the wheels. i knew the rears were daisy's, but i wasnt 100% sure the fronts were torque thrust. on a side note. ive been scouring the net to find more picts of this car so i can get decals made for it. it ran from about '68-'70 around the midwest. the picture was taken at U.S. 30 dragway in indiana. the name of the car is copperhead. the sponsers were Mikes Pit Stop in lansing IL and i think A&W Engineering. does anybody know of this car?
  9. yeah, both kits are 1/25! i couldnt believe the difference.
  10. i need a second opinion. i think i know what wheels are being used on the real car and have ordered them. looking at the picture of the real car, what wheels do you think they are using?
  11. heres a new project im starting on. i was looking through a Hemmings Muscle Machines mag and this picture of this chevy just struck me as really cool. i bought the black widow kit for the 150 body and got a old "spirit of 57" gasser kit minus the motor to use the flip front end and rear wheel wells along with some other stuff. i was warned that they wouldn't match up and sure enough, they dont. so i glued the hood shut on the 150 and cut off the front clip. i also trimed away all the inner structure. i swapped the lower quarter panels from the gasser to the 150, and thats where im at right now.
  12. moved to drag racing models. sorry.
  13. i use simple green
  14. hey jeff i wouldnt of done this without you man. if you didn't get me into the off-road model forum this wouldnt be. thanks.
  15. man this is great! i love making a better than the factory did, factory car out of factory parts(did ya follow that?). you really made a work of art out of a so-so car with big 'ol ugly bumpers. the rally's, the reworked spoiler, the shaker, and the pro-touring vibe make this incredible!
  16. i actually put bigger tires on it than i originaly planned! heres a pic with the smaller tires. the only thing i like better about this way is it shows off the scratch built shocks more.
  17. Ma's does have the tires and i wish i would have used them. i got these from "so real" and after a long while of brain storming i finally came up with a way to get the hard rubber tires off the rims and onto the rims that i already had mounted on the truck. heres how i did it. http://offroadmodels.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=howto&action=display&thread=660
  18. the rockwells, frame, springs, t-case, and bumpers came from the USA-1 monster truck
  19. i know this is in the wrong section, but this one seems to get more exposure. i built this using a number of different kits, some custom built stuff and some parts box scrounging. let know good or bad what you think.
  20. i got the firewall fab work finished and painted. i decided to open up the center console. i wish i would think of these ideas before i paint stuff!
  21. wow! i love the old pro stockers. cant wait to see you make a ford out of a plymouth and a pontiac.
  22. does anyone know when the kirkwood model show/swap meet is this year? or, do you know of any other events in the st louis area coming up?
  23. i have used heat to get one part of the tread to the point of melting and then press the tire flat onto a hard surface. if you do it just right, the melted part will sort of ooze out the side and look just like a buldging flat tire. warning-you might not want to try this if the tires are hollow molds.
  24. i used a small round rasp in my dremel and did all the grinding from the back side until it was paper thin and then used a small dentist pick from the front to poke through and tear the plastic.
  25. got some more work done tonight. this is my jig for making tire wear that i attach to a drill and rub a piece of fine sandpaper on. this is the fire wall i fabbed up using part of the stock firewall and four more pieces of styrine. you can also see the front part of the doors between the body and the interior where the door hinges will mount. i figured since i opened the trunk i better detail it.
