  1. Regardless of what appears in the photos, the specs from the lamboghini factory don't lie. According to lamborghini, the rear tires are lower profile than the fronts. The Porsche 959 was the same way. it was done to keep the all wheel drive from engaging in regular highway conditions. If the front wheels are always turning slower than the rears, then the viscous coupling would not engage until the rear wheels were actually slipping. I suspect a similar arrangement is used by Lamborghini.
  2. they would have to be bought by a dealer, and the dealer would want them at wholesale or less. I would imagine these items in that quantity would take a while to move.
  3. It's hard to say without knowing exactly how much he has of what kits.
  4. The tires are correct. On the real Lamborghini Aventador, the rear tires lower profile 30 A/R while the fronts are 35 A/R.

  6. I don't think his build is on the web, just in the magazine. But like I said, the system is not what makes the part better or worse. so long as the artwork is correct and the steps are followed the acid withh etch away the right area and you get a good part. It's like the x-acto knife analogy, I can't show you what you can do with it by showing what I've done. You'll either make a great cut, or you could slice your finger off. The system is only a tool that allows people with the skill to photo-etch a means of doing so. It's the skill of the operator that makes the difference. All the system consists of is the materials, the laminator, and an acid tank with an agitator. with great artwork and careful use, you will get a great result. with bad artwork you will get a bad result. The machine is just a tank that you put the acid in and agitate it. You could make it yourself but it's easier to buy the kit.

  8. Not yet as my wife's heath issues have kept me from working in my shop, but I have made the artwork and will be making parts in the future.
  9. I'm along time reader of MCM, and I've always loved reading Alex Kustov's build ups of Model Factory Hiro kits. I like reading how he overcomes different obstacles in building these kits, but wow! Sometimes I wonder if I would go through that time after time. These kits aren't exactly cheap at nearly $300 a piece on average. I just finished reading his lastest on the MFH Ferrari 275 GTB. Kudos to Kustov! You have more patience than I. (and you wallet obviously has a higher threshold of pain than mine too.)
  10. If you would like to see some parts made by this system you need to look n farther than the article on Randy Derr's race car model in MCM #160. But what you are asking, is like asking "how accurately does an x-acto knife cut?" The tool is only as good as the craftsman handling it. I have the micro mark photo etching set,and all it is really is the supplies you need and two pieces of equipment. one is a small laminator to laminate the light sensitive acid resist to the metal, and an agitator for the acid. neither has the ability to make a part better or worse. If your artwork is good, and the acid resist is exposed and developed correctly you will get a good part. if your artwork is bad and is misaligned when you expose the acid resist you will have a bad part. The set comes with a how-to book on the ins and out of making photo etched parts. when you buy the set and read the book you will undersatnd what I mean.
  11. When I was a youngster, the exotic car was just coming into it's own. The Lamborghini Muira was replaced by the space age looking Countach. The Ferrari Daytona was replaced by the 512bb. Speeds of 160mph, and 0-60 times of 5 seconds were things of legend. The regular sports cars of the era were lucky to top 130-140mph, and the no car was particularly reliable. 100,000 miles was the average lifespan of a car in the 70's, less if you lived in the northeast snowbelt as I did. As I got into my twenties along came cars like the Ferrari F-40, Porsche 959, Bugatti EB110, and the Lamborghini Diablo. These were faster and and more expensive than the cars above, hitting 200mph but costing $200k or much more. fast foward to today the 2013 Shelby GT500 will arrive with 650hp, and do 200MPH for half the price of the 200MPH Corvette ZR-1 The Bugatti Veyron does 268 MPH and has over 1,000 horse power!The Volkswagen group has 10 or more models that will hit 200 mph or more, and 500hp is no biggie any more. The new Porsche 911 Carrera S has over 400hp, and does 0-60 in under 4 seconds, making the top of the line Turbo of a decade ago seem weak. The 2011 Porsche Turbo S will do 0-60 in 2.8 seconds. With such extreme performance available, the question remains, where will things go from here? These cars already go faster than their racing counterparts. They already achieve performance levels that are near suicide on the street. Will there be a dialing back on top speeds and concentrate more on balance and stability? or will the push farther? Will we in ten years see 2500HP 300MPH sports cars that can only explore their limits on the salt flats or specially designed tracks? What do you guys think is the future of the super car?

  14. A hero is just a guy who does what needs to be done, when it needs to be done. My strength certainly doesn't come from me. I take one day at a time, and each situation I get through prepares me for the next.

  17. I find it's never a good thing to hide anything from your spouse. especially in my case. My wife's first husband cheated on her,and lied about everything. She trusts me and that trust is everything to me. I've found that if you can't be trusted in the small things you cannot be trusted at all. Of course part of that trust comes from the fact that nothing I buy for my hobby, is bought with money needed for other things. Of course she has the same financial freedom when we have a little extra in the budget too. We both trust each other to be financially responsible, and we both buy things that we enjoy. She knows How much I love model building, so if I want a new kit every so often that is fine with her. If you feel the need to hide what you are doing from your wife, perhaps you shouldn't be doing it.
  18. As many of you know I'm at home taking care of my wife who is in home hospice care. As you can imagine this is a very stressful situation, Model building is helping though. I can't really build much while sitting with her, but I can do little thing. Over the years I've found that sanding things relaxes me. So I've been, sanding off trim on my Kustom Hudson Hornet (Project "Buzzkill") I've been sand the ridges off the wheels of all my 2005 - 2010 Revell mustang kits so I can use better tires on them. doing custom body work on a few resin masters, and such. I'n a way model building is getting me through a very tough time. I also wanted to thank all of you who through facebook have offered words of encouragement and prayers. It has meant a lot to Me and my family.

  22. Perhaps he would let you do a column like the resin talk or the diecast reviews. I for one would like to see more stuff like your Ferrari GTO build up in print. While I wouldn't necessarily be interested in box stock reviews of mass produced slot cars, the building of homemade slot cars definitely interests me, as that is model building just as much as the static models are.
  23. What kit are you building. there is a chance that one of us might have the decals you need that we aren't using.
