  1. Actually Transylvania is in Romania.
  2. Had he simply used ebay's tool for excluding foriegn bidders, This whole thread would not have been nessesary. If he is not willing to read his Ebay's options for his auction, how can his complants about people not reading his auction be taken seriously. I'm very careful about making sure my actions are filled out correctly before listing them.
  3. Risk yes, but not unnessesary risk. F1 Racing is by no means a safe activity, but there is no reason to not take steps to mitigate that risk. It would be like skydiving without a back up chute. The odds that you would need that extra level of safety, is low, But you would be fool hardy to not avail yourself of it, and die needlessly.
  4. This is a stalled 1/24 Hasegawa Ferrari F-189 Kit that I was working on. I had decided to detail it by scratche building an accurate engine and tras axle, along with a detailed susension, but stalled when I found it too difficult to hand carve the small components I needed for the front suspension pieces, But I recently purchased some photo-etching equipment and soon this project will be back on. Much work was required to get the multipiece body to line up and be smooth, but the work was worth it... The foot box was non-existant so it also had to be scratchbuilt...
  5. Curt is right, F-1 builds generally get little or no respect here. Perhaps if we had a dedicated forum section to Open Wheel racing like the NASCAR builders have it might bring in more of the fans of Indy, F-1, and sprint cars. But were stuck posting in the regular onthe bench, or under glass sections.
  6. What is this "Scale Auto" Of which he speaks?
  7. Barely 'Cuda was a parts box build. It used a sheet plastic chassis, with bits from a Revell Ferrari Enzo, A Monogram Callaway Corvette Speedster, a Revell Stingray III concept car, and a Monogram '71 Cuda Street machine. The only new untouched parts, were the pegasus wheels....
  8. How about Project Alpha Lyrae, A pro touring stlye Vega with a Carbon Fiber chassis, sectioned body Chopped top and lenthened wheelbase? How about a 2012 Chevy Nova? How about a 1971 Dodge Charger Speedster? here is the Concept Drawing for Barely 'Cuda II... here is the concept drawing for a Ferrari Enzo Powered fenderless roadster I call "Brute Forza"...
  9. Nope not a one. the only thing I did on mine was adjust the front ride hight.
  10. There is a very annoying virus that might already be infecting your computer. Thus far it cannot be detected by Norton, McAfee or AVG. It's called the "let me show you something" Virus. For some unfathomable reason, it seems to be voice activated (whether you have a microphone hooked up or not) and only will activate with two or more people in front of the computer. For example, You can look through your photo files rapidly and with out any issue, but then you invite a friend to look at them, and say "let me show you something" Immediately your computer freezes, the pictures won't load and you can't get anything to work. Apparently the only way to fix it is to have the other people leave the room the computer is in and everything will immediately go back to normal. Other voice commands that seem to set it off are; Check out this youtube video... Let me print that out for you... I'll google that for you... Apparently there is no fix for this virus, and it doesn't affect your computer when only you are in the room. Even bill Gates is stunned. he was quote in a recent news conference as saying, "Ummm...I don't know, That's really messed up."
  11. For me it depends on why I'm building the model. Some projects I use as a learning process, to help me advance my craft, on those it doesn't matter if it takes several years. Take my Shelby 427 Street Cobra, So far it has taken me several years of building time but in the process I've learned how to; 1. Resin cast 2. Form body panels from aluminium sheet 3. Open molded in vent details, 4. scratchbuild wheels 5. and now I'm learning how to photoetch small parts. Then there are projects where I limit the build to things I already know how to do : 1967 AC289, Took two weeks. 1967 Corvette, Took two weeks Barely 'Cuda, 8 Months 1961 Falcon, 2 Days. The point I'm trying to make is there is no shame in making it easy on yourself. Try just painting and assembling a model with no detailing just to get one done, then move on from there. But if you do push yourself, treat each step as a model pf it's own. With my Cobra model, I see each new challenge as a chance to take it to the next level, and learning that new skill is like completing something new.
  12. Actually that is a snap kit, but is very detailed. I have several, and they have full engine, and chassis detail. once they are together you would never know they are snap kits. This is from the same series of snap kits as the revell '91 caprice, Acura NSX, 93 Camaro, and Dodge viper kits. All very nice kits.
  13. It might not be the latest and greatest, but nobody knows how to make it work better than ford. In a recent comparison test between the Boss 302 Mustang and ten other super cars, the Boss 302 was ranked 5th ahead of cutting edge cars like the Lexus LF-A and Lotus Evora. if it ain't broke why fix it?
  14. Actually, keeping the solid rear axle in the Mustang in the 2005+ Mustangs cost ford money. Originally it was intended as a cost saving measure, but the fact that the setup shares no parts with existing models means it actually cost more to produce. The reason they kept it though is that it is what their core market prefers.
  15. Now how much money will it take to get me a street leagal one?
  16. 'perfect daily driver" depends on where you do your driving. If I was diving in and out of NYC daily, no, But around Kingsport TN yeah I could do it. I won't because; 1. if I had 85K burning a hole in my pocket, I'd pay off my house and save for my daughter's college 2. the insurance rates would dwarf my current car payment even with my clean record. 3. owning a performance car to me is not about going 200mph, it's about being able to have a bit of fun while still not risking my license. A Mazda Miata, or an S2000 would be more than enough to have some fun on the twisty roads surrounding my home in the mountains of TN.
  17. I live in TN...I prepare for the winter month and a half
  18. Ok, I will have to get a couple of these definately! actyally make that four, one in each livery, one to replicate the one in GT4 and one to covert into a street leagal hot rod version of the GTX-1 Roadster...
  19. Never. Model building is what relaxes me, and the more challenge it presents, the more relaxed I get.
  20. How many do we "have" to look at? None nobody has a gun to your head.
  21. The actual function I was alluding to was that they remind you you really don't want to get in a wreck in one of these. They often end very badly. Even if the were made out of the real roll bar material, they wouldn't do much except add a hospital ride to your cost of settling your estate.
  22. Most of my collection (1,000+ kits) was aquired when I was heavy into dealing at swap meets. I bought out other collections and sold off what I didn't want to keep. back then I would buy anywhere from 50-200 models in a weekend, but i was making 60K+ a year back then. Recently I've been thinning out my stash, and have been buying kits I've wanted when they are a good deal, or if I'm particularly flush with funds. But my hobby has never taken food out of my family's mouth or made the rent late, and never will. That said I still have less invested in my models tools etc. than my niebor has invested in his bass boat. truck, trailer and fishing gear. Jus. sayin'.
  23. At least the double rollbars serve a purpose, not much of one, but they do serve a purpose. When asked about the effectiveness of the roll bar on his cobra, Ken Miles was quoated as saying, "It's a reminder that you don't want to to be upside down in one of these."
  24. I use all of the above depending on what I need. I use Tube glue, liquid glue, Glue sticks (like the kids use) , epoxy, super glue, laquer thinner, double stick tape, Jb weld etc. I don't care what brand as I haven't found a huge difference.
