  1. since you alredy have it painted and everything, and the part will be foiled, installl the glass first, and wait for it to cure fully, the epoxy in the boken piece and when that has cures apply tour favorate putty with a tooth pick, and lightly sand the joint, refoil and you are done.

  3. What Cobra csx# did you own? I might have a picture of it.
  4. Only two 427 cobras left the factory with interior colors other than black, and those were CSX3272 which was a street car with blue interior, and CSX3336 also a street car with Red interior. No Competition 427s or 427S/C cars left the factory with anything but black interiors. in all cobras the dash was still black. here is what a 427S/C interior should look like... Notice the dual batteries behind the passenger seat. The street cobra has a single battery infront of the passenger footbox in the engine compartment. here is a 427 Street Cobra interior... notice the defroster vents on the cowl and the glovebox door. If you need any more reference photos or just like Cobras here is a link to my Cobra pics all sorted by serial# http://public.fotki.com/ashevillemodeler/reference_photos/cobras/427_cobras/

  6. I don't believe in reincarnation, but I did in my past life.
  7. Awesome! one of my favorite Ferraris of the late models.
  8. You could combine it with a 1970 Chevy and do one of these...
  9. How is the top "not a true custom chop"? it certainly wasn't a mass produced option, or a dealer installed package. is there some rule book I missed about what you can or can't do to a custom car? If I chop the roof on a1:1 car is there going to be a guy at a car show with a nascar style template checking to see if my modifications are within spec?
  10. I guess I was refering mostly to the "anyone got a pic of" part if the post. when I first started my 427 street cobra project, I wanted to do the specific car that was mentioned on the kit license plate CSX3181. so I googled it. It took me to pictures of how the car looks today not it's original factory condition. Ironicly if you were to do the same search today you would find my MCM forum build thread as the top result. how is that for coming full circle. http://www.google.com/search?q=csx3181&hl=en&source=hp&gs_sm=s&gs_upl=0l0l0l1031781l0l0l0l0l0l0l0l0ll0l0&oq=csx3181&aq=f&aqi=&aql=
  11. while google (or any other serch engine) is a valuable resource, it isn't a good as the human resource whe have here on the forum. let's say you are looking for info on building a 427 Cobra (my area of special interest) you could spend years as I have gathering information and pictures from Books, internet sites, face to face or email contacts, visiting shows and swap meets, as I have, or you could ask me and I allow you access to my already gathered, sorted and varified information. Yeah google is a start, but google won't reveal all that I have gathered myself. I have gotten information and pictures of Cobra's directly from the owners, restoration shops, Shelby american, and in a couple of cases from Carroll Shelby himself. Google isn't going to make the phone calls for you, put the cars on the lift, crawl underneath them and take pictures. let's say you want specific info on a Hudson Pick-up or a hard to find detail shot because you are scratch building one. I know a guy who has one, and could go up the street to the cruise in friday and get the shot for you. Perhaps even talk the guy into letting me scan some of the pictures from it's resoration. Google won't do that for you. The people here all have special areas of interest (obsession?) and have tons of information on that subject that would take years for someone to duplicate. why not ask here first? If I was building a General Lee, I know there are guys here who know the cars well and have accurate info to give me. That is the reason we have a forum, to share info, and to network. other wise we would just have a photo page and leave it at that.
  12. if a set of wheels is that important to the build, I will just scratch build a set.
  13. It depends on the model. anywhere between two days and 7 years.
  14. As much as I hate to agree with Dave... I don't see that he was bashing the Hudson, he brought up valid points about the kit he recieved. Mine wasn't as bad as his, but there is a little clean-up involved.
  15. Have you notice the bashing of the Hudson bashers have started? Do we really need a separate thread complaining about complainers. perhaps I need to start a thread obout people complaining about complaing, and the someone can start a thread complaining about me complaining about people complaining about people complaining, and then...
  16. Here is a small file I made out of an x-acto handle, aluminum sheet, and some sand paper. I use it to snad vents and grills that I open up on models the full how-to is avilable in issue 154 of Model Cars Magazine.
  17. Shelby Sixty tires were made by Uniroyal rubber in the early to late 1970's and sold by everyone from K-Mart to J.M. Fields - They were RWL tires that were of the same composition type as the polyglass belted tires of the mid to late 1960's -
  18. Funny that you picture it with an ansen...here is a 1979 ad from Car craft
  19. ooh! you got me on a spelling error! Good boy! you get a gold star!
  20. I will probably buy several of them just for the parts, as chopped 40's coupes aren't my thing, but I may build one using the custom parts in the coupe and the convertible body from a few years ago.
  21. Actually each model Revell, AMT, or even Mobius releases has to be a money maker on it's own merits. Yes 57 Chevies Camaros, Corvettes etc. are almost money in the bank, they are going to use that money on something that's going to put more money in the bank. The only way you are going to see a company like Revell or AMT shell out the bucks for an "oddball" kit, is if a similar kit is a huge success. For instance if the Mobius Hudson flies off the shelf and becomes the #1 hot seller of the year you might be able to convince Revell that say a '50 Buick could be marketed to those same people. You would not be seeing the new Revell 48 Ford Custom coming out this year if Revell hadn't sold a ton of the 49 Merc, On the flip side if all of a sudden we completely lost interest in Mustangs, and the 2010 Revell Mustng flopped, you can be certain, there would be no Mustangs for a while, not that that is likely to happen.
  22. I actually will want to build at least 10 of these; 1. The custom I'm doing now, 2. the Motor city Hollywwod resin, 3. a phantom woody 4. a primered custom 5. one bone stock 6. a custom convertible 7. a stock convertible 8. a bonneville racer 9. a radical modern custom 10. a hirohita merc style custom
