I've smoothed out the rear, added a ribbed bumper to match the front, and changed up the trim a bit.

I Might pick this one up if I can find it somewhere cheap, so I can build this...

I agree, I've dealt with him several times with no problems what so ever

I got an advance copy, but from what i understand they are now in stock with most online retailers. I know for sure that Tome over at Spotlight Hobbies has some.

so how do I get one? -
depending on how extensive your catalog is, it could be very expensive to maintain an inventory. Replicas and Miniatures for instance has over 450 products in their line-up and never knows what will be ordered. The trick is to be financially respnsible and use the money taken in to fill orders and order materials and then count the profit. unfortunately some use the money before filling orders hoping that they will be able to make it up somewhere and when that doesn't happen they can't fill the order or refund the money, and get deeper in the hole.

very cool, is that a custom or an actual factory variant? either way I want one too. -
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Dencon has left a lot modeler twisting in the wind waiting for product, both as Dencon, and before when he was lookout deigns. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for him to get going again.

My Inspirational Model Car
Darin Bastedo replied to Romell R's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
While there are many modellers whose models excite me, I have to say my inspiration always seems to be the 1:1 world. There are modelers I admire for their ecellents builds but when I'm working at my bench I'm not thinking of them I'm thinking of the real car and what could be done with it. -

There is something I've always wanted to do in a 50's custom like this one. Take the smooth dash and gauge pod from a Nash Ambassador and trans plant it in a custom car. Modelhaus has this in their Nash Ambassador kit. he might be willing to sell it seperately.

I got one early, in a trade with Dave Metzner. It's a regular production kit, but he got copies before the retailers. From what I understand the kits should be on shelves very soon.

The rear glass is actually the stock glass but trimmed from further forward on the glass insert, essetially giving it the same shape as the stock window but a little larger dimensionally so it fits flush the lip in the opening is simply to give it a more positive location when installing so i wont have any alignment issues in final assembly. I hope this helps.

Thanks, I'm actually going with that aproach anyway. Mostly deleteing some trim here and there, and smoothing things out. I want it to still look like a hudson when I'm done.

IPMS model contest eureka mo was a joke!
Darin Bastedo replied to 71drolds's topic in Contests and Shows
The deadline is arbitrary. they could easily set it an hour or more earlier or later and it wouldn't make a difference in the judging. It's not like someone is going to come in, scope out the competition and go home and build something better. The judging standard aren't. arbitrary, they have been developed over years of IMPS experience in running a contest, and ensure that craftsmanship is rewarded over the "wow" factor. If your model doesn't show the basics of good modeling such as no glue marks, mold lines etc. it doesn't win. Many automotive modelers aren't used to that level of judging and it seems foriegn to them. The popularity of the NNL has shown this clearly. "why is one standard "arbitrary" while another is not?" because they aren't both standards. The dealine is a rule, The judging criteria is a standard that the model is held to. The modeler had bad luck, got lost, held up in traffic or what ever, but letting him in was the nice thing to do. Once there it is the model which is judged, not the person. -
Thanks, but I'm going a completely different rout with the taillights. Hint: it involves the windshield from a Revell 1969 Corvette.

This is a Chip Foose inspired build. while it doesn't copy any of is actual cars, the overall look I'm going for is in the same style. Low, smooth, and changing just enough to make it different, but at the same time keeping the lines of the original. I've always been a fan of the original 1959 Stingray racer, and thought that the production cars lost some of the smoothness of the original concept. I decided to bring back the smoothness in my build. I've modified the wondows for flush glass, tunneled the fron turn signals, and shaved all trim and door handles I've also adapted the chassis from the Revell 1969 Corvette, and future mods will include a really smooth idea for the taillights, and licence plate. stay tuned...

I'll be doing a period kustom out of the Mobius 1953 Hudson hornet, using many of the parts from the Revell 1949 Chopped Merc kit. plus some other kool parts from my stash. Here is the new bumper and grill treatmant... I won't be chopping it, as I like the look of the roof as is, but it will be de-trimmed slightly and will get frenched headlights, rounded hood corners, tunneled antenna Chrome reverse wheels, and a sweet two tone paint scheme and possibly some tuck and roll.
