  1. You are a bad boy harry! Go to your room!
  2. Very well done. Your detailing looks so real. The only thing that keeps it from looking 100% real is the limitations of the plastic medium. I've never seen this kit built better.
  3. there is only one small detail I would change... it's location. This is a beautiful model. I love the engine, and the subtle re-styling. too often people go too far and lose the essence that makes the original car so cool. Your mods took the original styling one step further and made it your own. Bravo!
  4. Sweet, Very well done! I love the way the interior came out. Modern, but doesn't lose the style of the original. The stance is great, and considering how tough some of the R&R stuff can be to build, the finished product is nothing short of phenomenal! This build really gets me going!
  5. I think I might even enter this year. this might be a good excuse to actually build "Barely 'Cuda II"
  6. Nice build! I want one!
  7. Ok I have to admit, that I love Gremlins. Yes they were shoddy in quality, started rusting on the assembly line, and were't exactly fast, (come to think of it, as a Brit you should be right at home in one of these ) , but they were distinctive, looked sportier than the vegas, pintos and other small cars Detroit was pumping out in the mid-seventies. As a model kit there are many things you can do with one, you can build a hot rod, a drag car or even a custom, and best of all styrene doesn't rust!
  8. 1997 Revell Ford F-150 Lightning chassis.
  9. To me model cars are model cars regardless of the scale or material. I prefer plastic only because that is the material I'm most used to, although lately I've been making more and more parts out of metal for various reasons. I say to each his own, there is even a modeler out there, whose name escapes me, that makes some of the coolest models out of old tin plate tonka toys.
  10. It doesn't. no where does it say that you cannot bid for someone else and ship it to them. I do it all the time, it's called Christmas shopping.
  11. Your $2.15 in 1974 is worth $10.20 today. so minimum wage workers are making $3.00 less today than in 1974.
  12. If the model was posted, with a humble, "this is my model, what do you guys think?" yes he would get positive attention, and gentle critizism. If the same model was posted, with the modeler bragging how he is a "professional modeler, and how gret his model is." it wouldn't go quite as well. A while back we had a very talented modeler who couldn't keep his ego in check, and he became quite un-popular. The issue is the claim that this model is better than it actually is.
  13. If that is the standard, then McDonalds Burgers are Professionally made. I prefer the term "Expertly made" or "Built by a highly skilled craftsman" Just because something is your profession doesn't mean you are any good at it.
  14. when I fist started building in 1973 model car kits were about $5.00. If you adjust that into today's dollars that translates to $25.79. so they really aren't that much more expensive.
  15. Because this is a re-issue of a 70's vintage kit. That is how the old revell kits were
  16. I don't think it will work quite like that. Before you can print with one of These you have to design the model in the computer. Just like scratch-building, resin casting, photo-etching, decal printing etc. all technologies available to us now, the thing holding back the average modeler is the abilty to design the original part or artwork.
  17. The regal can be used as a basis for this conversion. I know because I did one in the early nineties, that I eventually abandoned due to problems making the hood, primarily due to material issues. (back them I only knew about green squadron putty, and it kept warping the scratch-built hood.) You are right about every body panel being different but enough of the underlying shape is there to modify/build up the correct body panels. the front and rear clips have to be done from scratch as well as the interior and other details. I may attempt this again sometime this year though.
  18. Ford actually built a convertible version of this car too...
  19. Dear friends, the prayers are working, she is still with us today and greatly improved. se is talking and moving her arms and legs, and there are signs of he body starting to function again.
  20. For those who aren't aware of my situation, My wife has been fighting a long battle with cancer for about 4 years. It appears though that her battle is coming to an end soon. She is at home in hospice care, surrounded by her loved ones and our dogs. She has been strong for so long, and has shown me the kind of love I never could have imagined could exist here on earth. I have no specific prayer in mind, but just that Gods will is done and that she goes peacefully knowing she is loved.
  21. When all is said and done photo etching is a lot like screen printing. if the art work is right and you follow the steps correctly, it will work great, if the art work is bad there is nothing you can do to get a good result with out fixing the artwork. So it boils down to this; Can you design the part, and create the artwork. if you can the rest is easy.
  22. I just got mine a few months ago. I'm working on the artwork now, but believe it or not it isn't all that complicated, it's just that the you have to be precise. I should have some parts done sometime in January
  23. I have one. The quality of your artwork and the care you take producing it, will make a huge difference in how the parts turn out. My advice practice by creating the artwork, and printing it on paper. Cut the paper out and see if the part fits where you want it. if it does print the transparency and produce the part.
  24. Both the old and the new ala cart hat issues, and neither built up as an exact replica of the 1:1. But to answer your question, yes with todays reverse engineering technology they could do it, but the question is would they? I wouldn't hold your breath, but they said the same thing about the rommels rod and tijuana taxi a few years agao, so you never know.
  25. And do you think all aircraft and military modelers are rich? It boils sown to priorities. do you want to build three cheap kits or one really nice one? I don't have a lot to spend on my hobby, as I make very little and have a wife with cancer and a teenage daughter to take care of so I have to save up change sometimes to get what I want, but because the money is hard to come by, I tend to buy only the high quality stuff. no sense wasting money on the cheaper offerings.
