  1. I want to thank Charlie Kroll for trading me a Tamiya Ferrari Enzo that I could butcher into what you see here. I'm using Charlie's messed up Enzo to build this mock-up. From this i will do my styling renderings, and all the measurements and such for the actual model. So here is the test mule. The finished car will be a fenderless roadster. Hopefully I'll have a renedering soon of what the finished model will look like.
  2. I was gonna say something, but I felt it was best not to. Thanks for keeping things under control.
  3. Ok I plead guilty...I buy a whole lot more than I finish, but I have fun. Now on the topic of resin quality, I have to say that over the years I've bought a ###### resin, and as much as people complain, the average resin caster these days are a lot better than they were a few years ago. How many people remember Mad Dog Models, or Tim's resin rods? there tuf practically needed remastering to be buildable. I'll admit, that Don Thune can be "rough arond the edges", but he's always done fine by me. (It could be because I also am an obnoxious yankee) I don't know if for some reason I've had better luck from reliable resins, so I won't say people are over reacting, but my experience has always been good.
  4. Should we start calling you "Emily Litella"?...Nevermind.
  5. I didn't mean my post to be a slam against jimmy flintstone, just the opposite. I meant it as compliment to Reliable Resins. I'm a huge fan of Jimmy's work, and feel he offers a great product for a great price. But even though Don's stuff is pricier, his stuff is still better than a lot of the resin out there for the same price.
  6. All my dealings with Don at Reliable Resins have been good. Even the "factory second" he sent me (at no cost I'll add) to help with a project we were working on was of decent quality. (hopefully now that work has slowed down and the weather is getting better I'll actually finish it.) I'll be the first to admit Don is a little rough around the edges, and a smidgeon opinionated. but all of the product I've seen is at least as good as the Jimmy Flintstone bodies I've bought. Are his bodies modelhaus quality? nope but so few are. as far as return policy goes I've never had to send anything back so I wouldn't know. I doubt there will be any legal action resulting from the "auction" simply because the amount of damages have to be high enough to make the lawyers paycheck worth while, which is highly unlikely. Lawyers aren't cheap but talk is. His best bet would be to try to smooth things out with this disgruntled customer rather than esculate the feud.
  7. You mean Chopper isn't his real name? When I was at the Cookeville show i heard someone call him "Chopper" and I knew exactly who he was. Welcome to the board!
  8. I'll have to disagree on this one Marc. Just looking at the set up of this kit and all the optional parts, this one is going to sell! I'll go as far to say this will kill off the AMT Merc, for everyone but the most srious replica stock builders. Most of the AMT mercs have been built as customs, a lot of people will like the fact that they can build a chopped Merc with out having to do the chop themselves. Added to that the extra period custom parts will sell even more kits just to get the parts. Once the aftermarket gets involved and tools up resin bodies for this it will have the same affect on the market as the Revell Choppers. People who normally wouldn't build a period custom will be lured in by being able to have a smooth looking custom on their shelves with out all the work. The people who already do customs will be able to take this one a bit further because all the basics are already done. I plan on buying a ton of them myself.
  9. The way i see it, Revell has given us kit bashers the ability to do just about any tri-five body style by providing these... 1. 56 Chevy Nomad 2. 56 Chevy 2 door post 3. 55 Chevy Convertible 4. 55 Chevy 2 Door hardtop Combine this with AMT's 57 Chevy kit and you can (admittedly with some work) do just about any body style tri-five chevy. Their are even resin bodies to use to convert these (with some cutting) to foor doors and sedan deliveries.
  10. Hey Ken, Cut revell some slack about the mis-shapen body work, after all this was the first run test shot, so it's not as bad as it could have been...
  11. To be fair, The guys who design space shuttles, and nuclear reactors (I hope) did a lot better in school.
  12. I'm thinking, that when it comes out, I'll fix the flaws, toss it Jimmy flintsone's way (he seems to be able to produce resin cheaply) and then for about 20 bucks I'll have an accurate modern 70 Cuda AAR
  13. Actually on something like this they aren't working from factory blueprints anymore. Usually they are working from photos and measurements. The fact of the matter is in this day and age there are fewer and fewer people who have the abilities need to turn those photos and mesurements into tooling. If you bring a project to a tool and die maker now they want digital 3D models of what you want to plug into their CNC machine. You bring them drawings, pictures and measurements, the price goes way up and so does the chance of them messing it up. If you want to make a model companies day bring them a 3D cad model of all the tooling for a model for them to tool from. they will love you and so will the tooling guys.
  14. While I'm as disappointed as most are in Mr. Sextons responce, I don't think it was "Oh well, I don't care" so much as it is "Oh well it's too late to fix it again." Ed is definately a model car guy, I know he would rather put out a quality project. As far as the 'Cuda goes I still plan to buy a bunch as it still has some good parts that I can use to convert their 71 to a 70, and I can still use it to build something like this...
  15. Looks better than the first one, but the roof and rear fenders are wrong. nothing I can't fix, with some careful cutting, but annoying none the less. Still it will be an easier fix than their last attempt
  16. I'm hoping he meant "GENES" if not I don't wanna know.
  17. ... Why is it that no matter what I'm building I have to change it? I'm building a Revell Plymouth Prowler, A pretty decent kit that builds up just fine out of the box. i'm doing a weekend build just for fun, but I simply can't build it box stock. I shaved the door handles, removed the bumpers and am contemplaing other slight mods. I must be crazy!
  18. wholymuthersunafa...ummmm WOW!!!!!....
  19. I've always been #1 but I've been told I smell like #2
  20. Thanks, someone posted a link to the auction as a joke on HHMB as a joke saying nobody would ever buy it. (minimum bid was 99¢) i felt sorry for the little thing so I bought it and decided I would respectable.
  21. You mean this one; built from this? it was damaged in my last move, but is going to be repaired and finished.
  22. Just about everything on this is corvette except the Charger body parts and the engine. So technically this is more of a customized Corvette with a Hemi and Dodge Charger body work.
  23. Thanks Bill, I'm thinking I like how this one is shaping up better than the 'Cuda. As far as HHMB goes, Until Tom changes the format, all these off topic posts are going to make the on topic ones hard to find.
  24. It's starting to come together and I'm addid some details... I should have more time to work on it, and post on here now that I won't be posting on HHMB until Tom can get things under control over there. It's a shame that what used to be a cool place to hang out has gone to the dogs.
  25. This is based on a Polar Lights Dodge Charger stock car body I picked up for two bucks at the Cookeville TN show. the chassis is a lengthened corvette chassis and it will be powered by a fuel injected Hemi.
