Mike.... Thank you sir. now the question is do I polish the bolt heads like I did for the front Axle.... Lee... Thank you for the kind words but I don't know if I am the Michealango of styrene because there way more better builders on this forum than me. Danno....Thanks buddy. Hopefully I will have more to show you at the next swap meet. there is one before the DSC right?? Jim.. Thank you sir. I think majority of people are saying brass and that's the route I am going with . Derrik... thank you sir Dave... thanks man... shhh don't let anyone know my secret that it's really a snap-tite kit... hehe . Rom... Its great to see you back here man. Thanks for the kind words. Yep there is sure a lot of pages to this build. I remember someone saying something a while back about making wagers on how many pages this would have when done...lol. I would like to have it done by February but realistically I want it done in time for the next DSC. Steve... Thank you. Yeah since I stuck the motor between the rails and took the pic, it is making me want to hurry up and get the rest of the engine parts painted and the engine assembled. You are probably right that not many people at Prudhomme racing really know. Very cool that your buddy used to work at his shop. Alan... glad to hear you are still coming along with the Green Elephant Vega. bummer to hear about the blue max decals. I do know of a great decal guy that does many of the decals guys are ordering. It's worth a shot if you want to ask your buddy about the color. I really wish that I could get and answer on it or see it in person myself...lol Robert.... Thank you, would be awesome if one day once it is completed if I could get a pic of it next to the real thing or sitting on the injector hat...lol -

This is coming along very nicely so far. you are going to have this thing built and painted before I finish the engine on my funny car... . I am looking forward to more updates on this. John... Thanks buddy. Seeing it partly painted makes me want to hurry up and get the valve covers, blower and injector hat painted with Alclad. Joe.... Haha you cracked me up with the snap tite kit. I sure hope this has some potential when done Gabriel.... I agree the brass looks great with the aluminum and I will be using those. Sorry I brain farted with your earlier post about the color. I will have to pick up a can of that blue from tamiya and test it over this b,use to see what it looks like. I still haven't hear anything on theming color from Snake Racing. I have another thing I am gonna try to see if I can find out. Hopefully posting on their Facebook page maybe someone browsing it will know. Worth a shot anyway. Larry... Thank you Sir. You know with you saying it will pass inspection makes me realize I need to put a chassis cert decal in the chassis....lol Brad... Thanks buddy. I appreciate the kind words. I know you love seeing engine detail and I can't wait to have more of it done to share with ya. Mark... Thank you Alan... I had that same look when I first set the engine in to get an idea of what it looked like. Makes me realize that I need to get the rest of the parts done so I can get the engine installed -

Joe... Thanks buddy... I have to agree that I was leaning towards the brass as well. I went back and zoomed in on a few pics of the engine and looks like the bolts are a yellow zinc plated. I agree that the silver looks to blend in with e block. I know I will be mixing them up on other parts of the engine. -
Clay... I am supper impressed with these latest updates. Man this is coming along so nice. I am so glad you are back on this one. I have a question on your Alclad work, do you shoot any of the Alclad clear over some of the parts when done? Also the work you have done with the working door latches is amazing. Did you use RB Motion rod ends for the hinges on them? Keep up the great work.

Hello Fellas.... well I was out of town for Thanksgiving as to why you haven't seen much posted lately. Well I am still waiting but not holding my breath on a response from someone at Prudhomme Racing since I still haven't heard anything back if they could let me know about the blue color. Anyway I have mocked the engine up again and I want all of your opinions. I have put some of the bolts in the engine to see which would look better. Let me know what you think looks better ...the brass or nickle silver ones? I am trying to figure out which I like better and what has the better contrast with all of the parts. Here are the bolts placed to see which looks better: -

Henry...I have tried teaching him all i can . Thanks on the blue. Mike... Thank you for the kind words on this build. Yeah That is an idea I could also do is have the color matched to the Revell Sticker. But I am going to get ahold of Don Prudhomme Racing and see if they would be willing to let me know if it was a solid or metallic as well if they happen to have the paint code for it. Michael... Thank you. I have been waiting for quite some time to finish this one myself. I would like to have it done by Feburary but more realistically I wanted it done by April of next year. Greg... Thanks for the kind words Mate! Yep my boy has recovered 100% from his surgery and all you can see now is a little scar where cut into his belly. The blue has been a tuff one but I am hoping that someone from Don Prudhomme racing will be able to help me figure the color mystery out... , since all of the pics I have the color looks different because of the lighting that it is in. Alan... I will get some pics of them when I get some time to take them. You may need to open the cut out a little more for the blower area. The red that is on the oil cooler before I painted it was a Red Oxide Primer I believe it was Plastikote. Well guys... I wanted to let you all know that I have sent Don Prudhomme Racing an email in hopes that they can verify the blue if it is a solid or Metallic as well as possibly letting me know what the paint code is. Hoping I will hear back from them -

Very nice build you did here it looks great. I started this same one years ago that I need to pull out and just put it together to finish it..althought I had some trouble with a couple of the decals. -
Alan... Toss it back into the purple pond and take a tooth brush and scrub it after it has set in it for a little while. I had done a body while back and it worked quite well for me.

Steve... Thank you... I was thinking one of the two blues on the left myself and I think the darker of the burst panel as well. Gabriel....this has been such a hard choice on what to do with the color. I took my ipad in and was trying to match the color off the pictures. Each pictures looks different with the lighting. Some sorta look like its a metallic color and others it doesn't. I have heard from many that it was a solid color but at this point I am so dang confused if its supposed to be solid or metallic. I may try to give snake racing a call tomorrow to see if they can help me. The best would be to be able to get a paint code for the color. And when I did this spray sample, this was just the base coat over the spray out chart with no clear. Mark... Thank you for the kind words. Your resin engines are the best in my opinion and loving how its coming together so far. I can't wait to have way more assembled and detail. I hope I can do it some justice -

Henry... Thanks... I taught him everything he knows lol Mike... Thank you. I really wished I knew what the color code on the real car is...lol because I was torn between the two from the left. Robert... Thank you. It took him a while to learn how to airbrush lol Dave.... Yep my dog is gonna take over...hahah Alan... Thank you....I have various parts from Pro Tech and FutureAttraction that I will be using for the linkages. I do have some drag details for 1/24 1/25th stuff. If you would like I can take pics of them and post them for you. -
Excellent job on this. This is a totally cool build. Did you use a bunch of Dirt modeler products on it?? Job well done
-
Dave... This is some outstanding artwork. Very nice job on all of them. I really like the Jeff Gordon drawing as I am a big Gordon fan.

Dave... it looks awesome with the tranny and rear end mocked up with the alignment tube... This is just Killer!!!

Hello Fellas... I wanted to share with you a few pics of some test spray outs for the blue for the body. I went to the paint shop yesterday and picked up some PPG blue for the body and did a test spray out. Besides the blue I also have some white base that I may tone the blue down with. I wanted to see what it looked like first with just the color I choose but when it comes time to actually paint the body I may lighten it up some with the base color that is used in it. Wanted to see what everyone thought of about the color. It was really hard to tell what the actual color was from the different pictures I have. Some shots show its lighter, some were darker and it all depended on what type of light it was under. But as far as I know, I believe it was a solid blue. Anyway here are a few shots.... After a couple of coats: A few more coats: A Couple More: Inside finished shot: Outside finished shot, with my little helper and partner in crime... Keep in mind that I can still alter the color by adding more of the white that makes this color up. I picked up an ounce or two of the white that is in this mixture so I can change the tone of it: -

Bob... Thank you for your input. I am still having trouble seeing the burst panel in my reference pics of the car. Joe.... LOL... thank you for your input as well. I know what you exactly mean that the lighter one give more contrast but I am with you that the darker one looks more realistic. Don't think I am going to do 12 different ones this time. gonna figure out which direction to go and hopefully only shoot it once...lol -
Alan... This build is off to a great start. The chassis is looking great. I am looking forward to seeing more progress on this build.

Alan... Glad to hear...the gaskets add that extra pop Brad... thank you. I have been enjoying sharing every part of this build with everyone. Even all of my screw ups that I have made along the way. Ok So I have a question for all of you. Here are 2 pics of different blower manifold and I am not sure which way to go with the color of the burst panel. I will show you both pics. one pic the blow off panel is a lighter color than the other. let me know what you think. I also may to a test shoot out of the royal/navy blue for the body tomorrow. thanks Lighter Burst Panel; Darker Burst Panel:
