  1. So the next thing do to was to tape off the body for the red. I had a local sign shop cut me some Gerber Paint mask (Low tack vinyl mask) from the pattern from the decals. I have to thank my friend Brad Norgaard for creating the file for the vinyl mask for me: Here is the Vinyl Mask with the Transfer tape added to it: Here is the body after laying the vinyl mask down and getting the rest of the body taped up for Red Paint:
  2. Hello Fellas.... I know I haven't posted much for about a month but there was a reason for it. I was trying to have a surprise for our Desert Scale Classic this past weekend. Now that the show is over It is time to update you all with what I think is a pretty big milestone for me on this build. I am super happy to say that I was finally able to say goodbye to the primer look and was able to get some paint on the body. Now I need to say first that I had a bunch of set backs during the painting process. Just as this build has been for me lately it wanted to fight me all thru the painting process. I had colors bleed thru the tap which I had to fix multiple times. I don't want to bore you with all of those pictures but I will do my best to share the painting process with the least amount of pictures as possible. Although I will warn you I do have quite a few pics to post, Hopefully no one minds. Here is where the build stands as of now.... So I got the Body all blocked out with 800 Grit sand paper and ready for paint: Up next was getting the inside of the body all taped out: After about 2+ hours of taping it was finally ready for some paint: Here is the body with the White Base coat:
  3. Tim... Thank you very much on the Belt with the weather. I learned from the best.... John Teresi taught me his secret and I have to give him all the credit. for sharing his secret to me. Dave R.... Thank you very much. You are right at how the efforts out weigh the outcome.\ Mike... Thank you on the belt. As I told Tim I don't think that I could of gotten these results if my Brother John Teresi didn't share with me how he does his belts. I was amazed at the results. Brad... Thanks buddy. I was trying to make this huge milestone a Surprise to everyone as to why I haven't posted in a while. Edgar... Thank you so much. Danno... LMAO... you have me cracking up with that. I still can't stop laughing. Thanks again for the great time at the show and Being a Great MC. Joe... Thanks... Hey sorry that you weren't able to make it out. You missed one heck of a show but I know that you to take care of family things. As always Family comes first. I hope everything is ok. Brad... Sorry I wasn't quick enough to post pics. The past few days have been a little crazy for me and I have been worn out from burning the midnight oil since Thursday night, I didn't get time to get around to posting pics. Ray... Thank you. Art... Thanks buddy... It was a great time to hang out with you and see your gorgeous work on your builds. Next year you will have to stay over with John and I. Bob... Thanks. Yeah its a little hard with out having a Minion Crew like John has. Actually don't tell him but while he was away at another model show before the DSC, I actually went over to his shop and stole one of his minions Tim... Yep... I finally got some color on it. It would of been so cool if you could of made it out. It is a show you will have to come out for one of these days. Hopefully I will get to meet you in the future. I know I am going to be planning on trying to hit a few shows out in that area. Would love to be able to make it the NNL in Atlanta and the NNL East shows possibly next year. Stephen... It was great to see you this past weekend and to be able to chat for a little bit. Hopefully next year you will have some cars there. Bob... Thank you very much.

  5. Hey All.... well I guess the cat is out of the bag as to why you haven't seen any updated lately. I was wanting it to be a surprise for the DSC. I will respond to each of you when I get home from work and I will show some of the paint process when I get home from work since I don't have the time to do it now. Things have been a little busy for me the past few days as to why I haven't posted any pics since the show. So stay tuned and I will get some pics up this afternoon.
  6. Art... I Know the pain of not making the deadline bit it's way better than rushing and messing things up like I have done. This thing was a beauty and totally cool how you had it displayed. Can't wait to see when you get 'er done. Keep up the great work.
  7. Oooh Danno!!!!! How many days away..........That's right..... one day away.... In all seriousness... I am totally looking forward to the show and seeing everyone tomorrow.

  9. Danno.... You better have my reserved parking at the projects table.... LOL... It will be the last year you will be able to tease me about the funny car not being done
  10. John... Dude this thing turned out Awesome. Love the weathering on the skeleton and I totally love his Chrome Dome helmet. This is one heck of a build. Took you only 7 weeks to build this beauty. As Randy mentioned you are one talented builder. Can't wat to see this in person in less than a week.
  11. Dave.... you are more than welcome. You have done some killer pieces for me for the funny car and it's the least I can do to return the favor. I am super glad you are happy with how they turned out. I am looking forward to seeing more progress on this build.
  12. Tim... every one of your updates is just spectacular. I am so impressed with your skills and what you can create. AS I have said before every update is just a treat for us to drool over. I really enjoy seeing your work come together. Keep up the Awesome work that you do.
  13. Oh Johnny Boy.... WOW!!!! That base if perfect and looks great!!. I love it. What a Totally cool Idea for a base. You and your creative mind are always at work. You and your work is an inspiration to me. Makes me want to be a better builder and try more new things on my builds. The Iron Lung Sign Turned out Killer and looks great!!. This whole build is just Awesome!!! and I can not wait to see it in person.
  14. Art... you are welcome. I can relate to you big time on the "time may not be on my side" and estimating time vs the time it really takes. I totally did that big time with the funny car. I really wanted to have to funny car done for DSC but it seems everything has been fighting me the whole way for the past month to 2 months. So I totally underestimated the time it really was going to take to complete. You need to sick a few of John's Minions on the build to help out... lol. I am sure you will be able to get it done in time.
  15. Art... man does that taillight look great. You got skills just like Johnny Alclad... your work is impressive and I sure hope you are bringing this to keep me and Randy D company on the projects table... lol
  16. Holy Smokes Randy... what an awesome update. Your brass work is just killer. I am going to have to asking you some pointers when you are here. Looking forward to haging out very soon.
  17. Johnny Boy!!! I am loving it. That base is freaking BAD A$$. What a totally cool idea for a base. You have one creative mind when it comes to.building. you are a genius. Keep up the killer work. I know the next update is going to be just as killer.....
  18. Tim... Wow.... you have me Drooling. What an awesome piece of work that bracket is. It turns ed out gorgeous and then seeing it all mocked up... yeah you hit a grand slam on it. You are one heck of a Machinist. Keep up the great inspirational work.
  19. Holy smokes Brother!!! That is one Bad A$$ update. That interior is looking Awesome and so does the headers. This is one sweet build. Can't wait to see what you do next to this build. Killer work.
  20. Ahem.... I am waiting for another Sweet Update.....
  21. Randy... Holy Crapola... Nice work on those U-Joints. I am super impressed by how small these parts are. Dang man... How do you do it?? You may have to teach me at the DSC...lol That is some crazy goodness going on with this build. Keep up the great work!!
  22. Art.. Some how I missed this update over the weekend. Man this is looking Great. Nice job on everything.
  23. John... Killer work my friend. This thing is insane!!! You know if you finish this one by this weekend or before you could start another model and have it built in time for the DSC.... Since when did you start painting your finger nails?? I that a Cali thing.... As usual you do incredible work.... I can't wait to see what else you do to this build...
  24. Tim... Holy Crapoloa.... WOW you have me speechless. That steering gearbox is perfect. Super Impressive work yet again but then again I don't expect anything less from you. And I have to say that the Copper Plate from Caswell i looks perfect. I don't know how you got it to plate so good, when I did my copper flash I have had some trouble with it. Did you brush plate it or did you submerge it? I would be curious which would result in a better finish and then I know it all depends on how much solution is in the jar for dipping. I am really thinking of trying another one of their methods besides the bush plating to see if I can get the plating down. Maybe a Electro-less system. OR I am just flat out doing it wrong... wouldn't be the first time screwing something up on the funny car... . Keep up the killer work and I am curious what you have next on the plate to work on.
