  1. I already preordered mine from Hannants! I can't wait! Finally after too many years, we'll see this much wanted car in mainstream plastic. MFH's kit is nice but waaaaay too expensive for my tastes! Thanks for the update Larry!
  2. Stay tuned Jon! There may be a Ferrari in my future in '08 as I'm a Ferrari aficionado too! When Hasegawa's 250 Testa Rossa comes to be, I'll definitely be building it as that's one of my favorite Ferrari's. Tom, that's going to be a work of art when you're done! I've got to spring for MFH's kits one of these days! I'm dying to get their Aston Martin Zagato!
  3. Bob, thanks so much for the info! I'm definitely preordering one! I thought I'd never see anyone do a plastic kit of the 250 Testa Rossa, and the pontoon fendered one at that!.................Like you said there's hope of seeing that Lusso. What I want to see though is the 250 GTO 330 LMB! Model Factory Hiro has one in the works apparently, but with house/car payments I can't spend the $250+ for models right now like I used to.
  4. I've said for a long time that if we can turn off the faucet to the amount of lawyers that are poured out in this country, that would surely cure a lot of ills.
  5. Yup, Future is the best when it comes to needing a barrier! I've been using it since '99 when I was doing a '56 to '55 T-bird conversion and wanted to paint it anything but the standard red it was molded in. I've applied it with an airbrush, keeping the pressure no more than 10-15 psi or so. It can run quickly out of the bottle so when airbrushing, I recommend quick passes! And as Mark mentioned, I've used it for attaching photoetched parts as an alternative to epoxy and white glues which to me are too messy.
  6. REALLY??!! Bob, where did you see this? I'm not doubting you, but if Hasegawa holds true to this....................it will make my year!! I agree with you to about MFH's kits..............I LOVE their Aston Martin Zagato, but it too is loaded with white metal stuff which I'd rather have in resin. BTW, I have HRM's fantastic Cobra Daytona coupe................a beautiful redo also of the original Gunze Daytona, albeit with full engine detail and a bit more difficulty in putting together.
  7. You could try here............They look very nice and convincing if just a little high priced.
  8. Frank, this is the modified reissue kit from Revell, based on their excellent convertible. If your a '55 Chevy fan, this is a MUST HAVE kit!
  9. Rob, that is a masterpiece! I have that kit and that's a GREAT paint scheme! I like anything that has the Gulf Globes on them.................their colors always stand out to me. Are the checkered flag emblems in the kit? I've haven't looked at mine for so long, I don't remember what decals are included. As far as ease of assembly.................One word-----------------------Tamiya!
  10. Hmmm..............Good question! I have a lot of "favorites", but if there's one model that tested my building skills as far as working features in scale-----it would have to be my '58 Impala Conv. Hard to believe the model is almost 7 years old now! This is probably the first model I would build that I tried to cram as many operable features as possible with the knowhow I had then. It also was a successful first attempt at a hardtop to convertible conversion..............many years earlier I tried the same thing on another '58, but the results came out disastrous! Life's a little more sane now..............I've gotten past the "everything must work" stage and focus more on getting more builds done, but might stray back into the superdetail mode down the road! I was tempted to go that route with the '55 Ford, but my better sense tells me to just do some simple detail and save the tedious stuff for later on.
  11. Another MAMA's Boy! Welcome Danny! Remember.........Once you walk through the doors of the MAMA's club, you're instantly and always a member! Residency in Tennessee notwithstanding! It's good to see your son now interested in models.............Lord knows we need new younger builders. As Ajulia said, if you've got any questions.........ask away! We'll try to help as best we can.
  12. Yes! The box art for this car is MUCH nice than the previous one! Should be a good seller for that alone. Ditto on the '57 Chrysler 300 for a donor chassis...............the engine though IIRC wouldn't be quite correct as Imperial didn't use the 392 Hemi for '59.
  13. Yes I can!! I had a '69 AMX with a 390 and 4 DRUM BRAKES!! At least my car had a dual circuit master cylinder...........but stopping could be...........well, interesting just the same! I LOVE the paint on you car Rob! Very smooth with a mirror finish!
  14. Craig Singhaus of Motorweek originally did the segment on the Revell factory. IIRC, the segment was called "On The High Road"................ The segment started off showing him trying to put together what looked like a 1/12 scale Revell '65 Shelby Mustang GT-350! Maybe you could do a search on Motorweek's Website and check out their archived shows. I may do a search on it later myself.................but there's quite a few years (and shows) to dig through. I'm up now to get the last minute things done before the big day!
  15. Hi Luke! Good to see you here! Gregg made a small post about folks having trouble logging in or registering................hopefully the bugs are worked out now. Merry Christmas..............and I LOVE your '55 Chevy!
  16. Motorweek on PBS did a segment on model kit making years ago............IIRC it was when the Revell Pro Modeler '69 Charger Daytona was about to be released, because they had shown the wooden buck for the body on one of the tables in the background.. Terry, I seem to remember the lady pulling off the sprue off the '69 Camaro 'vert body before it got bagged, so Discovery Channel could have been there the same day to do a segment.
  17. Hi Rudy, I don't consider myself a pro either...........but like to take my pics in what I would consider a studio format. This means a plain background with no busy distractions................although a nice base would be okay for me if it's not too "fussy looking". My "studio" is actually my paint booth with different color poster board depending on the color of the model. The poster board is curled so the pic will look borderless something like you'd see in a magazine studio shot. I've got poster board in off white, light blue, silver, and black. BTW, you can get poster boards at most arts and crafts stores. My lighting is nothing more than and overhead flourescent light, with a 60 watt incandescent bulb on one side and a 50 watt "True Blue" bulb on the other. This provides me enough light without the washout effect of too bright a light. I also don't like using flash as it can really change the properties of the color of the model. I've got Paint Shop Pro software on my hard drive so in case things need touched up, I can do so before posting. As Raul mentioned, some shots I've taken over and over to get just right. My camera is a Olympus D-540 Zoom........it's only about 4 megapixel, but it's also about 4 years old so I'm due for an upgrade down the road. It still takes good pics as well as great closeups in Macro setting for when I need it. Here's a few pics of some of my recent models taken with my Olympus............. HTH!
  18. Yeah, that's a bargain as those aren't seen everyday! A very nice kit..........but NOT for the faint of heart to build!
  19. Very, Very Nice!! The hood clearance for the supercharger is a nice touch! I hope there's a kit for this, 'cuz it looks like I'll never be able to afford a 1:1! I don't care for the black roof though.......hopefully that's an option.
  20. Irv, I'm gonna say model.................something about the top on the model looks "stiff".
  21. Hi Chris, Jairus made an in depth post a while back on posting photos................ Click here to get all the fine details. Hope this helps.............we'd like to see your work!
  22. Gregg, the great thing about Carbonite is that it backs up all your files automatically. They also have an unlimited limit, so no matter how much stuff you've got on your system, it'll back it up. There's nothing special you have to do................everytime you add a new file, it goes into Carbonite's server. Your files are safe with encryption so there's no chance a hacker can break in and "steal" something. The initial backup would take a while (You've got a LOT of stuff! ) but once backed up, it's simple and safe. Just my 2¢ worth!
  23. Hi Marco, He's talking about the engine compartment area, or engine "bay". Of course on the L-700, the engine and surrounding parts are pretty much exposed once the cab is tilted over. I'd like some pics also.......I have an old builtup I won on eBay a few years ago, and it's begging for a restoration!
  24. ALBERT!! Glad you made it here! No, you won't find the nonsense like the "other" place. If there is nonsense, you can at least ignore it since it's in a separate topic...........not "in your face" like you know where.
