  1. As are many of Revell of Germany's trucks. Very few didn't have a start in an Italeri box.
  2. Nice truck for a Cascadia, Wayne, the little bit I spent in the one they gave me I wasn't very impressed, and I'm a diehard Freightshaker man! I made sure I took note of the number, I'll be looking out for you as I pass those slow Wenie Wagons!! As for me, I did get the Intertrashional I posted the pic of, and she is a pretty good runner for being an old girl. She's an 07 with a 465 HP twin turbo Cat shaking her, and 10 speed. She has at this time from the Petro parking lot in Jackson, MS I'm sitting in 682,740 miles on the clock. I do think that she's not putting all the power to the ground she could, she dogs out on hills if I don't keep the rubber bands wound up tight, and she's governed at 68 MPH. I'm going to see if she can be turned up and at least get some more speed, since some of our trucks are wide open. At least I'm getting to run the truck the way I like and I don't have big brother watching me every second of the day. (Sorry Marshall and Wayne! ) I have had to adjust to keeping a log book (or two ) again, but at least (and again sorry guys) I don't have a computer telling me when to run and when I can't. I'm not saying I'm running illegal, I keep everything legal most of the time and when my body says that's it, that's the time I shut down. I just like the fact that if the body will allow me to get up at 7AM and not quit running until 1 or 2 AM, a little "creative writing" lets me run the miles I want, not what a computer tells me. Anyway, that's all for now, and Wayne, if you're through Jackson before tomorrow (Sept 28) afternoon, stop by the Petro and look me up! I don't have to reload in Pine Bluff AR until after 5:00 PM, then I'm heading to New Philadelphia, OH.
  3. Ken, I don't know if you have interest in other scales than just "O" scale, but if you do and you were not aware of this kit, this is a Revell of Germany "HO" scale kit.
  4. I thought only us truckers referred to there as Misery!!!!
  5. I agree with JT, the Revell 359 would be a good base and then get with Eric @ P&P and get the conversion 389 hood, but to do the truck correctly, you need much more to go with it, and P&P has what you need. You would also need the Ultracab style cab, since that truck has one and is a larger cab found on the newer Petes, and you would also need the 2006 & up conversion parts such as the dash and steering wheel and interior door panels.
  6. I see it this way, if I want to build a subject bad enough, the cost doesn't matter, just the amount of free cash in the bank account does! I have some builds in the planning stages in my brain rattling around that will probably cost me well into at least the $500 range, and if not more. My personal record so far is on my ongoing Ford LTL9000 custom, and with the price of the kit ($80), price of the colorshifting paint used on the frame and cab ($20 a can and 3 cans for a grand total of $60), and as of this point, probably about $50 in resin goodies, and that total will probably get larger before the truck is complete.
  7. Thanks Marshall and if I get out to your neck of the woods I'll be in touch, and I'm just happy it isn't Werner blue!! Small world, John, I spent a few years running big wreckers myself! I've been in that area and know exactly where you're located, and whenever I do get in that area I'll be in for that free coffee!
  8. My ex used to work at Petco, and I always hated when she brought her work home with her!! I felt like I lived in an aquarium!!!
  9. Very nice!! What did you use for the chrome side panels? I tried some thin K&S stainless sheet to make some for chicken light panels and that didn't work out well for me.
  10. That's a mighty big resin body if you needed a roll back to deliver it!!!
  11. No, you just have to know the quality of the seller buying resin off of there!!
  12. Thanks guys, and things are going well. I went to fill out paperwork and my DOT drug test yesterday and will be starting next Tuesday! I'm going to be driving for a small local company not too far from my temporary home here with my brother in Beech Bottom, WV, which is about halfway between Wheeling and Weirton, that is based out of Hopedale, OH. The company is Mark R. Lewis Trucking and like I said, they are just a small company that both Jon and my brother Garry have worked for and didn't do badly with in their time there, and they one have about 15 or 20 trucks and everyone I met yesterday seem to be nice and easy going. I even got to road test in the truck they said most likely will be mine, and it's a nice driving truck. I didn't get the year or find out what power it has yet, but it's an International 9900i with a standup casket bunk that is surprisingly roomy. Here's a pic I took while the driver giving me my road test was dropping the loaded trailer he needed a tire changed on.
  13. I found that with a trading partner I had in Alberta that it was actually cheaper for him to have me buy the kit off of ebay for him, have it shipped to me, then reship it to him than for him to buy it. We did that on a couple of deals and and it was cheaper for each of us to do it that way including his shipping to ship me his end of the trade than it was just for the ebay shipping rate that he had to pay! Maybe if those of you in the frozen north have a trusted trading partner in the states, it may be an alternative to look into.
  14. Hey everyone, I figured I'd better let everyone know I hadn't fallen off in the ditch somewhere! I've been spending the past month working on getting my back strong enough to try the ole big road out again, and I'm trying to do it again! I just finished an application for a small local company here at home that both my "brother" I'm staying with and his dad both drove for and I will probably be the next in the "family" to work there. Other than that since the last update, I went with my friend Jon (which is my little "brother's dad, and like a dad to me) to Birmingham and finally rode in a nice chicken Inertrashional and then to Gary, IN with my little brother Garry in his not so nice Intertrashional and didn't do too bad on either run. I didn't drive any, but did most of the work strapping and tarping the loads and missed my swinging barn doors! If there's anyone who says flatbedders don't work hard, I'll gladly call you a liar! I'll take a van and swing the doors shut any day before I would drive a skateboard, and I did do a little skateboarding with the warehouse I used to work for, even though that was just throwing a couple straps over 12' long skids of cardboard and driving it 20 miles to the customer and back. Steel hauling is a lot of work compared to that! Anyway, I'll probably know more later this week and I'm going to spend the Labor Day weekend with the family, then maybe next week I'll be getting ready to hit the big road once again! Catch y'all on the flip flop!
  15. It's not that silly at all Carl. I have a couple friends that use paper towels to protect painted bodies in their "I might finish this someday" projects.
  16. Carl speaks volumes with that one little statement Craig! I'm sorry to hear of your loss, but as Carl said, Lisa is still alive and well in your heart and memories. I'm 37 and in those 37 years, I have lost both my parents and an older brother, so I know all too well the pain of losing someone very close. My parents both suffered from health problems, and remember for Lisa what I remember for my mom and dad, they are all in a better place now and not in pain as they were here on Earth. Of the three losses of my family members, I took my brothers hardest of all, he was taken long before his time in a tractor trailer accident, and he is still alive in my heart as well, his spirit has been in the passenger seat every mile I have driven a truck through this country. I even honk the air horn at the scene where he turned his last mile just to say hi to him every time I drive past. Stay strong Craig and my prayers are with you and your families.
  17. Yeah, I think your thread here is proof that doesn't work!! http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=78588
  18. I used to work for a distribution warehouse that dealt in packing supplies, and the best thing I ever "dumpster dived" (before it hit the dumpster ) was scrap bubble wrap! They would cut large 5 foot tall rolls to customer specs and the remaining would go to the trash, so I started collecting the scrap. If you still have the kits original boxes, just wrap the model in the bubble wrap until it fills the box and the model will be safe and sound. This also works for shipping trades as well, as I did very frequently here in the past. I would fill the remaining space in the box with bubble wrap and then wrap the box in bubble wrap before putting it in the shipping box. If you don't have the original boxes, use the tote idea earlier, just substitute the bubble wrap for the towels. I would suggest looking in your local phone book under shipping supplies and see if there is a distributing warehouse around your area and see if they either have any scrap bubble wrap you could "dumpster dive" or see how much a bulk roll of 10 inch wide small bubble bubble wrap would cost. Bring a car with a big back seat or a pickup, as a normal roll is about 4 feet in diameter! Oh, and as a redneck working in that warehouse, it was always fun unloading a bubble truck, everyone always was popping some as the truck was unloaded!!!
  19. Yeah, but for some here I'm sure it's the truth. I'm just very anti texting while driving. Maybe there should be a $2500 fine for car drivers like there is for commercial drivers, then there word be less texting and driving. Of course, you can't fix stupid, not even with duct tape!! Through the years driving around the country, I have seen it all, and two of the most memorable just happen to have been in IL. One woman around Effingham was driving down the interstate reading a book and once around Chicago I seen a woman change her shirt while driving on I 80!
  20. When did the grammar Nazis join the forum?? Your post has been corrected by the Grammar Nazi!
  21. If you are texting while you are driving, and this applies to everyone, being stupid in spelling is the least of your idiocy!! DON'T TEXT AND DRIVE DUMMIES!!! I am a professional driver with over one million safe miles on this country's roads and seen firsthand the results of texting and driving, and believe me, it's not pretty. That text isn't worth my life or yours!! This now concludes my properly spelled Public Service Announcement, now back to your regularly scheduled thread.
  22. Harry, you know what happens when you assume!?!?!
  23. I hope it doesn't take me as long to get the Prostar as it did my Lonestar! Great looking truck, I just wish Moebius would have put a more standard exhaust on this version, I can't explain how much I hate "Bullhauler" stacks on trucks!
