Would these work Rich? http://public.fotki.com/cnaind/truck-tires--wheels/dodge-power-wagon/tread-detail-in-rubber.html They are from Alan at Ma's resin and listed as wheels and tires for Dodge Power Wagons, but look like the tread you want.

I was wondering that myself, and does the bed come with it also? I'd guess the chassis looks plain because to me it looks like a modified kit chassis. It looks like a section was added to the stock AMT kit frame for the added length of the cab.

You'd be surprised how hard a diesel inhales, Harry! Even in the diesel pickup world, as grille openings got smaller, both Ford and Chevy added holes in the bumpers for added airflow for their diesels. Here's a 92-96 Ford that has the diesel bumper, identified by the holes in the center above and around the front license plate.

You callin' me an oddball!?!?! I knew the colors like you mentioned were a no-no, but I didn't know the hook up lights had to be clear. I ran red ones on a couple Freightshakers I drove, and even crossed scales with them on at night, and I never had a problem. Of course that was almost ten years ago, so maybe things have changed since then.

Jeff Burton builds models ????
highway replied to slantasaurus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No it's not, I just thnk it would be interesting to know! -
Well, darn it, James beat me to it!!! The only thing I can add is you would have to modify the rear panel to keep the taillights but get rid of the chicken lights. Also, you can't go wrong with the fenders from Porky at P&P, I have a set for this beast! I painted them with DupliColor Chrome, and they turned out nicely.

Cool truck video
highway replied to gray07's topic in 1:1 Reference Photos: Auto Shows, Personal vehicles (Cars and Trucks)
That is a good video, makes me miss the road. It funny you mention Lake Station, I spent a few nights in the truck stops there in my days! By the way, if you like truck videos like that, look up mine I made for Ronnie Milsap's "Prisoner of the Highway", my YouTube is HighwayF350. -
Actually, if I remember correctly, the Sportwagon is considered a Trans Am, not a Firebird. The shaker hood and side fender vents as well as the wheel flares in front of each wheels are Trans Am exclusive pieces not found on Firebirds. The wheel flares are the only exception to that rule, I do believe Firebird Formula models did get the flares but nothing else. The reason most every model, regardless of Trans Am or Firebird, says "Firebird" on the box is due to licensing of the "Trans Am" name from the Trans Am sports car racing series. The only model company ever to actually pay for the right to use the Trans Am name in kits was Revell/Monogram, which they have since dropped as well. That is why early kits like the Monogram "Warbird" issue of the 78 Trans Am like the body you have in your first post have the proper "Trans Am" logos, but later issues like the early 2000s issue called the "Badbird" and the upcoming fall reissue of the 78 do not have the "Trans Am" name on the box or decal sheet and are listed as "78 Firebird" kits.

The engine is looking nice Niko! As for interior color choices, if you decide on a light color for your body color, you might want to consider tan or gray. I have driven blue and red trucks that have had gray interiors, and a white one that had a tan interior. Also, if you want to join the truck CBP, feel free, and don't worry about the December deadline. I'm the one in charge of it, and I feel there is a very good chance the deadline will either be extended or dropped completely! I've barely even gotten started on my builds for it yet!

Aftermarket body parts question!
highway replied to thesnake87's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Jake, I don't know if this will help you or not, but you could parts from these kits for your window louvers. The 67 can supply you with the side window louvers, and to me it looks like they would not need much modification to fit a newer Mustang body. Here they are held up to the window opening of my Revell 07 Shelby GT500 body. The 70 Mach 1, and also the 70 Boss 429 kit, could give you a base to start with for the rear window louver, since it would need widened and probably slightly curved to fit the newer rear window. I hope that helps. -

No you are right, the Ford diff is on the driver's side where a Chevy is on the passenger side. -
Yeah, you are right, I was looking at the pics in the link Harry posted, and I think that steering wheel alone shows the tech gap!

At least you don't feel lower than a snake's belly, you have one more than I have! I think I'll crawl in my non Lonestar inhabited hole now in shame!! Robert, I have to agree and disagree with you at the same time. While the Lonestar is very high on my "Must Buy" list, so are quite a few of the AMT reissue truck kits. The part where I disagree is Revell and Round 2 are, well at least in this truck modelers area of interest is concerned, are reissuing what the customer wants. A few examples that I have either already added to the collection or soon to add are the Freightliner cabover, the Kenworth cabover, the International 4300, and the Freuhauf flatbed. In the case of the Freightliner and Kenworth cabovers, I was either not even born or not old enough to build the last time those kits seen the light of day, and in the case of the International and flatbed trailer, I'm old enough to remember them, but they were lost in a house fire in 1997, and I'm not rich so paying collector prices on ebay is not an option to replace them. The reissues finally allowed me to replace those after all these years. Revell's recent Kenworth also falls into the second example, I still remember that kit from years gone by and nice to see it back. I did say I agreed with you too, and that is because I do hope Revell and Round 2 will see Moebius hit a home run with the Lonestar and will probably do the same with the upcoming car kits and finally it will open their eyes. In the case of AMT, for being 70s technology the truck kits were great for the time and still great almost 40 years later for a few of them, but as a trucker and truck modeler, you just don't see this equipment anymore. It would be nice if I could build some of the trucks I drove in my career, but most are newer than 1998, and the newest was a fresh 2006 Mack with less than 100 miles on it when I got the keys to it at the last driving job I had before health problems cost me that job. Hopefully the success of the Lonestar will open their eyes and they might see that yes, reissues are good, but new tools are even better!!

128 in a 45 MPH zone
highway replied to slantasaurus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling this way. I'll watch the race, maybe even fall asleep and rewatch the parts I miss in the DVR, and that is something I never did before Dale died. Before, Sunday was my day, you did not call me, you did not come over to visit unless you were coming to watch the race, and you dare not interupt me while the race was on. Now, if I miss it, I'll speed through it in the DVR, maybe watching the last 10 laps. Of course Sunday is a little different, day starts at 7:30AM EDT with the F1 race from Monaco, then on to Indy, then finally to Charlotte for the 600, by estimations of TV listing times, at least 15 hours of racing coverage!! AMEN!! -
Mark, you bring up a very valid point, the show cars NASCAR teams use for promotions at your local car dealer or supermarket are just like you said, an older car "modeled" after the current car. I've had the honor to speak with some of the show car drivers of a few NASCAR teams, and have asked about the cars, and that is always the answer. They take a older chassis that is either outdated or not raceworthy, take an older engine and really "make a model" of the new car. The slippery slope in this case, most of these "model" showcars might be "reissues" of older cars for new versions, but most all of them I've seen, the driver of the show car hauler is usually on his own, and drives the car into the trailer! They may be models made from older cars to represent newer cars, but when that "old" engine fires up, there's a REAL shake in the ground!!!!

Thanks for supplying the hat, I was hoping I'd be right because I didn't have a Ferrari hat to eat!! I printed the picture of the hat and ate that, so I ate my Ferrari hat. I did, really I swear I did!!!

Jeff Burton builds models ????
highway replied to slantasaurus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You know, if there are a few NASCAR drivers that build, my curious mind wants to know one thing, do they or have they ever built a model of their own car!?!?
