  3. Good point but these are from the late ninties re-issue of the kit. .... not the original sixties kit.... In any case I wold not raid an early sixties kit for the parts.....especially if it was complete...... Regards Bill (Duntov)
  4. Very fine workmanship.....excellent job....thanks for sharing!!! Regards Bill (Duntov)
  5. HI: If you read the Jairus Watson article on the Galaxie Chevy build up this tip might help a bit. I have several of these fine kits and the article inspired me to get one out and get going. However, I just can’t seem to find the right wheel and tire combination…..you can pretty much forget Pegasus items unless you want to do major surgery…..but a few years back when I got these kits I found a set of nice wheels and tires in an old re-issue of the Ed Roth Beatnik Bandit by Revell. There is a nice set of chrome wheels with some skinny slicks that will fit right up into the Galaxie Chevy wheel wells……just add some baby moos (or not)….and you have it…..see the pics below…. Regards Bill (Duntov)
  6. Hi Ryan: Thanks...... This is basic Tamiya Orange TS-12 over Tamiya fine gray primer... shot from the rattle can and rubbed out gently with Novus #2 Polish. The orange also works very well for doing Chevrolet orange engine blocks. It is a very close match in that regard. Regards Bill (Duntov)
  7. I like this one a lot......neat build up of a main-stream 60's car.....well done!!! Regards Bill (Duntov)
  8. This is cool!!!! I can't get enough of 34 Fords.......I like it!!!!!!!!!!! Regards Bill (Duntov)
  9. Nice work!!! Very clean build.....thanks for sharing.....you should do some more Mustangs.....good stuff!! Regards Bill (Duntov)
  10. Hi there: Here is one more 34 Ford Pick-up street rod rendition. I know…â€ANOTHER ONEâ€â€¦.well here goes any way. About this build up: It uses the 34 Ford pickup as a base. The top is chopped and a scratch built Z style frame is used. The front end is from the Ala Kart kit while the rear end, exhaust headers and head lights are from the AMT double T kit. I scratch built the shocks and used Pegasus wheels, tires and brakes. The engine is from the Revell 41 Willys kit. I minimized the photo etch and billet with just the grille and banjo steering wheel being PE items and the blower pulleys being billet pieces. The gas tank is built up from the two pieces in the AMT Double T kit with a longer tube body and aluminum foil added. The gas cap is also from the T kit. The paint is simple Tamiya Orange sprayed from the can and rubbed out. The pickup bed is scratch built from sheet styrene and the tonneau cover is the kit piece that has been center sectioned and glued back together with a hidden seam. It press fits on the bed using .060 styrene angle to retain it. Overall the truck has 16 total .033 brass pins and tube retainers that allow it to be assembled (or taken apart) as you can see in the photos. The tail gate is the kit piece with some detail painting. The tail lights are simple aluminum tube that has been cut and polished with clear red sprue shaped, polished and pressed in place. The main speedometer is hand lettered on white styrene with an aluminum tube section piece for a rim. It was then filled with Window maker to get a slight concave appearance. Hope you enjoy this as much I did building it…..BTW…..many of you provided ideas and approaches for this….so if you think you see your work here and there you probably do!!!! Thanks…..!!!!!! Regards Bill (Duntov) An overall shot of the main elements just prior to assembly…… A shot of the cab interior and scratch built speedometer A shot of the base chassis prior to assembly - look closely and you can see the assembly pins on the floor board and rear cross member. When the truck is assembled.....they disappear. And the rest of the build as it sits today………
  11. Hi Virgil: Some very nice work there.....I like all three builds...... not only are they very well done from a craftsman point of view but you can just look at them and know they have a "story" behind each of them!!! You know what I mean!!! Great builds and thanks for sharing your fine work!!! Regards Bill (Duntov)
  12. Justin: Nice touch on the integrated lake pipes....very clean and very subtle touch.....nice build.......keep itgoing!!! Regards Bill (Duntov)
  13. Hi Mat: This looks really good......you did a fine job replicating the real car. The overall feel is really great........thanks for sharing with us !!!! Regards Bill (Duntov)
  14. Great build up of a simple straight forward kit......these are a lot of fun to do and you have proven that with some attention and a few parts you can generate a knock out car!!!! Regards Bill (Duntov)
  15. HI: I know this is not a “new†kit but I though some of you might have an interest in it. I picked it up yesterday. It is circa 2005 vintage from Fujimi. It is their AMG 190 E Mercedes sedan. This is a very interesting kit…..very nice topside detail, i.e. body and exterior. Some of the parts are extremely delicate. If you are familiar with this vintage of 190 E class cars you know that some versions had small wipers on the headlights. This one does and they are present in the kit. They are only about 2.5 – 3.0 mm across and very thin. The mounting holes are in a word tiny….I suggest maybe placing some small diameter wire in them prior to painting to avoid having them fill in…..they are that small. Additional details include a very nice AMG engraving on the front bumper, sparate door handles and racing mirrors and a slick set of two piece racing wheels and soft tires with tread. As with many of the Fujimi (and Tamiya) kits this was originally intended to be motorized and the battery holder and motor frame are included but not called out in the instructions. There is also a nice four point roll bar and some other bits and pieces that are extra and not mentioned either. The chassis plate is just that ….a plate with some detail pressed into it. It serves double duty as the interior floor base. The seats and side panels, dash and console attach to it. The suspension is very simple but has poseable wheels which are great for a car like this one. Don’t look for any chrome because there isn’t any!!!! The grille assembly is molded into the body so some masking will be in order to black it out or chrome it with Alclad if you so desire. However, my references show the grille surround as body color on this vintage of AMG car. The window glass is nice and not too thick. The driver’s window is open but the passenger side is provided in the closed position. A small two by two decal sheet has some really nice dash gauges and a radio face for the dash casting plus a couple of other items including two European license plates and two Japanese plates. I have recently built a few of these curbside cars from Fujimi and find them very enjoyable. i.e. the Mr. Hobby Ghia roadster in the under glass section plus some others. I would recommend this kit for a nice simple build up. Careful attention to the fragile details, after-market wheels and tires and some paint detail and it should yield some great results for a shelf model of a neat car. The roll bar and the extra bits might serve to build a track racer of some kind if you have references of that type. A nice change of pace for sure. See the pics. Hope you enjoy this. Regards Bill (Duntov) Box.......box cover car would be a neat build - as is..... Body and tires....neat two piece racing wheels, nice tires and a very well done body casting.....the large sprue lug on the windshield will require extreme care to remove without damage to the windshield surround.... The interior sprue with various stock parts....... The front seats.......cast in black (do not match the stock rear seat provided......the rear seat could be left out in a race version and the roll bar added.......this shot also shows the battery pack and motor frame .....both unused in this kit. Last is the chassis plate......note the four point roll bar and other items including suspension pieces and various odds and ends.....many not used and or not mentioned in the instructions......
  16. Hey Jim....welcome home to you too!!!! Glad you are here!!!!!!!!!!!! Regards Bill (Duntov)

  19. I really like this!!!! Very fine workmanship!!! Regards Bill (Duntov)
  20. Hi: Thanks to everyone for making this a very informative and helpful thread. I am going to persist on this car since I like it so much....I think with some of the good inputfromall of you it can be brought around in time. I am in 100% travel mode so I will try to post one or two pictures of the disaster this weekend and then something on the progression of saving this one. Thanks Again!!!! Regards Bill (Duntov)
  21. Thanks guys......I usually use the one brand approach but wanted to try the Testor's product (so my fault for mixing)....I agree with Bob though the metal flake is out of whack scale wise. Regards Bill (Duntov)
  22. HI: I have not had this problem in about 15 plus years but here I am with it big time. I went out about ten days ago and got the Aoshima AMG roadster……I am impressed……the build is going very well indeed and it is very enjoyable. Started working on the body and related fascia pieces….prepped, cleaned and primed them with Tamiya fine gray surface primer……no issues. The primer dried out for three days and then I decided to try the Testors One Coat Lacquer paint (silver). It went on smoothly and no issues (looks very nice so far)……left it to dry and came back about 20 minutes later to find several sections of the paint crazed much like regular hot lacquer will do to raw plastic. After full dry out the body is like it has silver sand all over it plus the crazing in various spots. There has clearly been a reaction between these two paints. Any ideas here? I previously tested this stuff on scrap with the Tamiya primer and it worked well……Two questions now: 1) anyone have these problems and 2) ideas to strip this junk off the body……I would really like to salvage this.....as you know this kit is not cheap and to this point has been an excellent build. Any help would be greatly appreciated...... Thanks Bill(Duntov)
  23. Jim: Thank you for that rear license plate........there a lot of us that really appreciate that sentiment.......nice build too!!! Regards Bill (Duntov)
  24. HI: This is the final product of a Gia bodied roadster build up I posted in the work bench section about a month back. This is the Mr. Hobby Coupe / Roadster kit. This is a curbside with just a few subtle modifications. Here is what is in it: · Fujimi aftermarket wheels and tires · Narrowed front and rear axles by 4mm on each corner · Dropped the front axel 6mm (rear was left at stock height) · Seats are from the Tamiya new Beetle kit · Paint is Tamiya Pearl Green sprayed from the can · New exhaust tips to simulate larger engine · Built a new hard boot out of the kit item with .060 half round to fill the gap · Rebuilt the interior door panels from styrene and used kit items to detail · Photo etched brake and clutch pedals (can’t see them in the pics though) · Aftermarket license plate That’s it for now…….hope you enjoy this one as much as I did building it. This is a very nice kit and worth picking up if you want to do a quick curbside that lends itself well to modifications. Regards Bill (Duntov)
  25. Very nice work!!! I really like the look and feel of the way this turned out......thanks for sharing!!! Regards Bill (Duntov)
