  1. I'm visiting family in Watertown. Time won't be an issue, so appreciate the added references. I'll check 'em out on the web before I drive there. As for the sub-zero temps, I remember those as well. Every year when watching 'Christmas Story' I always get a kick out of the scene where Ralphie's mom is dressing his brother Randy for 'extended deep-sea diving' . I can relate to that experience. Seems more time was spent putting on mittens, boots, scarves, etc. than was spent being outside! Well, again, can't thank you guys enough for the referrals. Take care!
  2. I intend to load up on the bratwurst while there, as well as take in a Brewers/Braves game. (I was born in Milwaukee, but we moved away when I was four, so only have vague memories. I do remember 'Samson' the gorilla at the Milw. Zoo, though.) Anyhow, thanks for the tips. As far as I'm concerned, you should all be on the payroll of the Milwaukee Visitors & Tourism Bureau, you've been most helpful.
  3. Thanks to all of you. That's exactly the info I was looking for! I'm more excited now than ever to get there and do some shoppin' . (I may have to bring an extra -empty- suitcase just for my purchases,....on second thought, maybe I'll just have them shipped, I've seen the 'care' some of those baggage handlers apply.) Thanks again!!!
  4. I'm going to be visiting southern Wisconsin from May 8 -16, and had hoped to take a trip to Milwaukee to visit a few hobby shops. (I've been told they have some great ones.) Anyhow, I'm hoping a few of you may be able to provide some insight as to which ones you've been to and, more importantly, found to be worthy of the trip. Thanks ahead of time for any info.
  5. I've found that 'Doc Martins' ink, which can be found at art supply or craft stores works well for this purpose. It can be used straight out of the jar, or thinned per your liking. Let dry, and then simply rubbing a soft cloth, pencil eraser or Q-tip over the piece that's been 'washed' removes the ink from for the areas where you don't want it to appear. It's also great for flowing into body separation points like doors, trunklids, gas doors and cowl vents. Washes with water if you're not happy with it. I've also made washes mixing pastels with a little water. Just some additional options.
  6. Thanks, Harry. I've enjoyed your work in MCM. Question: When you do a piece, do you generally work, (start) with a photo and then paint over the top, adding your own ideas? I'm curious, as your stuff looks amazingly true to life with regard to lighting, shading, highlights, etc. Anyhow love your work. Thanks for taking the time to look at mine.
  7. ...Never mind, I see now it's oil on canvas. (Just turned 50 last week. Can ya tell?!)
  8. Very nice! What medium are you working with? What are you painting on? (Canvas, masonite, illustration board?)
  9. They're elves. Caption for the card read: "Elves prepare new sled for Santa." Thanks for the comment.
  10. A Christmas card piece I did which is a parody of a scene in front of the Barris Custom shop.
  11. Orange Roadster was created in Adobe Illustrator. Reference was an actual roadster I saw at Goodguys show in Pleasanton, CA.
