  1. Don't know about the C-note, but I'm confident we can all agree on "one" automobile,.....right? So I'll just let him know that the '56 Olds will satisfy our collective appetite for new styrene, then. Thanks for weighing in everybody!
  2. Well said. I suspect that those who were on board flights 11, 77, 93 and 175 are looking down on us and just shaking their heads wondering how anybody could complain about what amounts to a small inconvenience, when you consider the known consequences the alternative would allow. Just sayin'.
  3. Why not , indeed!. Good idea. I suggested the filler/brush option as it would provide the cross-hatch pattern most associated with fiberglass. Basically, you're looking for some texture to lay your decal over, should you choose that route.
  4. Sounds like you may have discovered a niche. If it were me, I'd probably take a camera with me to an auto swap meet, or local body shop where 'in-progress' fiberglass work might be seen. Then snap some good close-up images of the repair work you like, download them onto your computer, (manipulate with Photoshop, if necessary), then print them on white decal paper. Voila! You've got scale fiberglass. You'll probably need to provide some texture to the area on the model you're looking to do your 'glass work'. I'd suggest a thin application of filler then lightly drag a bristle brush across the filler in a cross-hatch fashion. Good luck sir, let us know how you come out.
  5. Perhaps an email barrage to Galaxie by Model Car Forum participants? Might be just the 'inspiration' Mr. Schmidt needs to complete this project. Address: GalaxieLTD@msn.com
  6. My source says he spoke with the man himself, (Gary Schmidt), only 3 weeks ago, and that while he isn't committing to a specific release date, it's distinctly possible we'll see it in 2012.
  7. So sorry to hear this. Please know that you and all of the others affected will remain in my thoughts and prayers. Hang in there, buddy.
  8. I've only built the Fleetline Aerosedan but did a fair amount of research on the 1:1 vehicle before starting and I can tell you that the kit is as true to the original as anything I've seen yet. I'm with you on the independents!
  9. Honestly, anything from Galaxie will be great, can't wait to see what they come up with.
  10. Hadn't heard the GM association, but I'm with you, what i wouldn't give for a '56-57 Olds hardtop!
  11. I also remember the '41 chevy talk. As I recall, the line for Galaxie was 'if the '46-'48 kits were successful, a '41 would follow'. That said, my source says that the new kit in the works is NOT the '41 but rather a 'mid to late 50s model, but couldn't (wouldn't), provide more info. In any event I'm excited to see what he's got in the works.
  12. Just heard a rumor that Gary Schmidt at Galaxie Unlimited is working on a new car kit, purported to be a mid to late fifties offering. Has anybody heard anything?
  13. These are all great! Especially love the Model A Roadsters.
  14. Well done! Keep up the good work! (You too, Dad).
  15. Did this one some time ago, but it remains one of my favorites. Enjoy seeing YOUR weathering techniques.
  16. Love the subtle 'sleeper' look this one has, but eight carbs?! Holy smokes, man, keeping that thing in tune would be a full-time job! ; ) -Mike G.
  17. Lyle, Absolutely love it!! Looks like something straight out of an early issue of R&C. Color choices for both, exterior and interior, are perfect. You've inspired more than a few of us with this build - Well done!! -Mike
  18. Would love to see a '35 Ford conversion (Would seem replacing the grille, hood and hood sides of the 36 Ford kits would make this a relatively easy product for an accomplished resin caster to create.) Thanks for asking!
  19. If you drink, don't park. Accidents cause people.

  20. JIm, nice build on the Pontiac. Also to Jim and the rest of you here who served our Country, a hearty thanks. I'll be thinking of you guys and all the others who DIDN'T make it home. Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend, gentleman – You deserve it!
  21. VERY nicely done! I've been considering doing a build up of one of these, this may have been the inspiration I've been looking for. Thanks for sharing.
  22. Just returned from my visit to Wisconsin. Made it to 'Model Empire' in Milwaukee and am now convinced that God is a model car enthusiast. As I walked through the front door, I swear I heard a choir of angels singing. 'God's Hobby shop was the highlight of my trip. Thanks to all who provided the references. I also visited Greenfield News and Hobby. This too was a great all-purpose shop. Spent way more than I should have, but opportunities like that don't come around everyday. Thanks again to all who replied to my query. Can't wait to go back! -Mike
  23. Jairus, I have been a huge fan of yours and all of the talented artists that have been featured in the magazines you mentioned, so am keen to see what other folks request. Great idea! There was an artist I remember, (I believe he's now deceased). His name was Brian Borden. I recall a piece he did which featured a 59 Ford Retractable, (I think) black in color, with a guitar and pair of boots posed nearby. That piece has been stuck in my memory bank since the first time I saw it. It has always been my intention to recreate that car. Perhaps, if you guys have access to any of Brian's art you might post some of those. Anyhow, my two cents worth. Again love the work you and the others create. Keep providing the rest of us with your artistic inspiration. Take care! -Mike
  24. Love your work! I'm a car guy, obviously, but couldn't get over the great Football pieces. I. too have worked professionally in the graphics field for over 25 years, and can remember cutting ruby' overlays and manually plotting registration marks, etc. Don't miss those days. Anyhow, love your work. Keep it up, I look forward to seeing other stuff by you.
