  1. Well the wheels have arrived, and they are superb, great job JIm. I did modify the them a little to fit. I drilled a slightly bigger hole in the center caps in the front wheels, so that they could fit on the spindles. I had to machine the back of the rears, so that they could clear the calipers. While waiting for the wheels, I continued working on the body. I played with the idea of using a deck style spoiler, but I chose the spoiler that came with the body. steve
  2. well all I need now is the wheels for a rolling chassis. The steering is now done, and the emergency and clutch cables have been fitted. The under belly pan has been painted and fitted, I will fix the fastners to that when it is on it's wheels. Steve
  3. here is a small update. machined a bell housing and started putting the engine together, colour will be metallic blue. started to build up the front end of the chassis, and will make the engine mounts and leaf springs next. steve
  4. Thanks guys. Started building the engine, but that was after I chopped off the trans. I will use the one from the kit with a machined bell housing. Have started making the front end of the chassis, pics soon. Steve
  5. Yep, definately like the look of those wheels, they look great, can't wait for these beauties to arrive. I have taken a rest from this build so I can enjoy xmas and new year, can't build with a hangover :-) Thanks for the kind comments guys, will need the encouragement after the holidays. Steve.
  6. Well I have started gathering parts, and began some mods on this new project. The firewall has been smoothed and fixed to the body. The doors have been cut open. The wheels are American Torque Thrusts by Detail Master, and the engine is from a Lindberg 64 Dodge, as I wanted a Hemi. Some parts are from a Ross Gibson engine but I haven't decided on an induction system yet. Stay tuned. steve
  7. The fuel oil lines have been installed, as well as the throttle cable and linkage. Also, the tires have arrived from Teds Modelling, now just waiting for the wheels. I used my lathe and three grades of sandpaper to get rid of the mould lines on the slicks, and put realistic wear on them. I simply clamped the tires on the chuck, using each grade of paper at differing speeds. The fronts were just done by hand as they were too flexible to be put on to the chuck. Thanks for looking. Steve
  8. Thanks Bill. Not much of an update, but the tanks are now in, the headers have been finished off and I have re-done the wheelie bar as I wasn't happy with it. I have reduced the angle and shortened it. Just waiting for the wheels and tires, but I have started redoing the tubs out of sheet ally. Steve
  9. Thanks John, thats what keeps this great hobby going, and we all continue learning new methods. The engine is now bolted in place, with the headers, and scratch built drive shaft. The back axle is also bolted in place along with the wheelie bar. Next up is to finish the oil and fuel tanks. Stay tuned for more. Steve
  10. Dash panel and steering wheel are now completed and installed. Just starting doing the wheel tubs out of sheet ally. thanks for looking steve
  11. Thank you all for the kind words. Chemiwood is the same as Renshape Ted. It does come in various densities and I carve, shape or machine the material depending on what I am creating. Harder density is better for machining. The rear calipers are made from this grade, but the fronts are made from less dense chemiwood, hence the texture. I made the steering wheel today, using the same method as John (Teresi) did for his Pro mod Daytona, (If you haven't seen this superb model, check it out) . It is just placed in at the moment, until I have completed the dash panel. As you can I have started on it, with a rev limit light done, and a rev limit guage to machine up. The instruments facias are from Slicks. stay tuned steve
  12. Here are the calipers for the front brakes. They have been made the same way like the rear calipers. The last couple of pics show the rear end mocked up to the chassis. Thanks for looking. Steve
  13. stay tuned for more. steve
  14. Cheers guys. here are pics of the rear end with the hubs, discs, calipers and lines. the calipers were made from chemiwood, and detailed with various parts. just need to get some more hardware to bolt it on to the chassis, along with the studs. next up, the front calipers.
  15. I now have the headers painted and weathered, and have just started doing the rear brake calipers. I need some more hardware to bolt the engine in place before installing the headers, and I still have to attach AN fitting to the oil pump to. Pics show the headers mocked up and with the body in place. Also got the front discs painted to match the rear discs. steve
  16. Thanks John. I got plenty of inspiration from your awesome "Shark Mouth" Daytona. steve
  17. Cheers Dave. That reminds me, must get some petrol for it. I am in Ham, Surrey. steve
  18. Thanks Ted. My right arm suffered an injury a couple of years ago and it has never been the same, so for this project, I did find it easier to attach the hose and ends to the part first. Although, the oil pump has already been installed, but I still have to get more AN fittings. I will be after a set of tires for this, maybe next week I will order them once I have decided on the rears. steve
  19. thanks for looking. steve
  20. Ok, got lots done on this beast. detailed the rear end and made a couple of changes to. Added detail to the rear hubs, (brake calipers are next). started detailing the oil and gas tanks. Turned the oil pump and pulley. Added some fuel lines to the engine and installed the front struts. I have mocked up the front discs/hubs as I haven't decided whether to use five stud or spindle mount wheels, I also adjusted the ride height at the front so that the new headers have ground clearance.
  21. I now have the seat installed together with the seat harness. I scratchbuilt an electrical box and brake resevoir and have the batteries installed and wired. I also made the hand brake lever and chute release lever, both are bolted in using 0.8mm nuts and bolts. pedals are now in place and I am just working on the linkages. just got these in the post today. carbon dics brakes and hubs from Jim at Micro Nitro, and they are superb. Will be great to get these installed, but need to get the wheels and tires next. thanks for checking in. steve
  22. I was evilbay looking for a pair of 1/12th drag slicks, and i came across a series of 1/12th Doyusha kits. These consisted of two Lambo 500's, a Corvette, (sold one not so long ago), a racing Porsche, a Firebird and the Mustang MACH1. Well as it its my birthday today i decided to treat myself, and got the Mustang kit, as i have been after this and the Firebird for years. Unfortunately i could only get one, and the Firebird had sold anyway.
  23. The NOS and CO2 bottles are now in place, wired and plumbed. Started working on the batteries, with a scratchbuilt unit and I in the middle of making a mould of it. When that is set, I can cast two in resin. thanks for looking. steve
  24. ok, the trans and clutch, together with the mid-mount plate, are now in place. I temporarily placed the engine in to see how things are looking, oh, and I have corrected the crooked upper fire bottle button. more to follow. steve
  25. Thanks Bill. the chassis is now completed and painted, WOOHOO!! Got the fire bottles installed and clamped down, with just the hoses to put in. Made the electrical board from car radio parts mounted to a sheet of 0.5mm ally. Prop guard has also been installed, I used 0.8mm bolts for that and the fire bottle clamps. stay tuned for the next episode. steve
