thanks joe. i haven't got a compound slide, keep meaning to get one. all i did was to move the tool post round at various points to get a rough radius. i then finished it with a coarse file to get the final radius and then a fine file followed by fine grade wet and dry. steve

managed to have some more fun with my lathe, and turned the brackets for the NOS bottles and the oxygen bottle to. also did a pair of fire bottles. the seat padding was made from the packing from one of my airbrushes and the wheel tubs were halves of old paint tin caps. i wasn't happy with the wheelie bar, so i have reworked it and also made various brackets for the hand brake, chute release, fire release controls and side panel mounts. steve

what can anyone say? absolutely (insert suitable swear word here) awesome. really enjoyed the build thread, and if this truly work of art doesn't spur mr revell into releasing the old 1/16th (and some new ones) dragster kits, i don't know what will. this is pure eye candy. steve

coming along nicely chris. looking forward to seeing more. steve -
thanks scott. the butterflies have a diameter of 8mm. the coil overs will be fixed to the brackets, the pics are to just to get an idea on how it all sizes up. haven't decided how they will be fixed, but there is a need for the extension on the brackets. ideas are very welcome on this. steve

cheers guys. ted, i cut and shaped the butterflies out of 0.5mm sheet aluminium. i could have turned them like i did on my "british invasion" dragster, but i wanted a different look for them. steve

here are some more updates. started work on the rear end, with the links and turning a pair of coil over shocks. scratchbuilt a belt guard for the engine, a blower bag and harness. detailed the blower with bolts, including the blower pulley. also made a bag for the transmission and turned a pair of nitros bottles.

it's been a while since i last put some updates on this, but i have been busy. i now have the doors hung, more work on the chassis with also a guide coat of primer. made the wheelie bar and began on the rear axle. got the blower hat on the go to. steve

cheers guys. got some more updates. turned a set of pulleys and trim rings for the blower hat. if i had a turn table, i would have milled them. i also made the butterflies from sheet ally. i have taken a mould of the manifold and blower hat block and cast them, along with the valve covers i made earlier. they do have a couple of air holes, but nothing that can't be put right. By metalhead6464 at 2012-09-17 thanks for looking. steve

thanks guys. got my parts from teds modelling marketplace yesterday and began working on the top half of the engine. also, here's the light weight seat from dirt modeller. By metalhead6464 at 2012-09-12 thanks for tuning in. steve

thanks guys. the engine stand was something i made quick to save constant handling of the engine. here are some more updates. i'm doing something a little different here with the ignition wires. i normally install them after most of the engine is done, but this time, i decided to put them in before the blower goes on. it made things easier as i can adjust the wires accordingly just by pulling them out of the mag, as they are just pushed in. also made the fuel valve on a design by John Teresi's Daytona Pro Mod model. started doing the gear shifters out of 0.5 aluminium. did two but the smaller one will end up as the shute release. the boot lid is being made from thick plastic. thanks bill. ok, so here are some more updates. took a mould of the valve covers and are ready to cast, but i have to wait for the release agent to arrive. but i did finish the original covers as you can see. as promised, here some pics of the body in progress. i used etched fasteners from dirt modeller and trimmed down the resin in some places, notice the black areas. hey all. i started doing some work on the body so it can fit the chassis (pics soon) but also got stuck into doing the valve covers. these were machined out hard chemiwood and finished with a strip of plastic. holes were drilled for fitting to the heads and ignition wires. i am thinking of casting these up, but the finished ones will be painted black. By metalhead6464 at 2012-09-04 oh, the steering boots are turned ally with heat shrink tubing over the top. steve

thanks joe. i have been inspired by your pro mod 57 chevy, which certainly looks the biz. thanks jim. i have been trying to decide which set of wheels to use for this, as you have a great selection. ok, got some more updates. began painting and building some sub assemblies. also used some etched parts from dirty modeller and waiting for parts from ted's modelling marketplace. some more updates, including making the fuel and oil tanks, oil sump and more work on the front suspension, propshaft guard and transmission. By metalhead6464 at 2012-08-23 steve

thanks guys. started doing the lenco transmission, as well as re-doing the mid mount plate, as the plastic one did not cut it for me. also did the engine mount and both were made out of 0.5mm aluminium. the gearbox was turned out of chemiwood with the detailing done out of plastic. although most of this will be hidden under a blanket. steve By metalhead6464 at 2012-08-20 steve

cheers art. battled with my faulty lathe again, and managed to turn out the clutch can. i based it on the dimensions of the revell part and matched it up to a scratch built plate. i used my proxxon micro milling machine to get a straight profile, atop and bottom of the lip and also for the clutch access. i made an access plate from 0.5mm ally plate with six 0.8mm holes drilled into the plate and can. the plate was then fixed with threaded 0.8mm bolts. the cans lip, was also drilled along with the backing plate, using a 1mm drill bit. 1mm threaded nuts, washers and bolts will used to fix the clutch can to the engine. cheers guys. @ micro nitro. i will be after a set of your wheels and brakes for this, especially after seeing them grace other large pro mod builds. got some machining done today, the front struts 90% done, as i still have to put the spindles in and paint the springs. also did a couple of engine components and made the bracket from sheet aluminium which is not fully finished. By metalhead6464 at 2012-08-10 plenty more to come. steve

thank you all for the kind comments.

a little more progress. got the tops of the front struts in place and started the suspension mounts. also started on the engine, which is mainly made from chemiwood, body filler to fix any mishaps and plastic stock. the scale repros plus blower and manifold are in place for reference only as i will making them.
-
wow, thats awesome john! does that come with a pair of raybans? steve

cheers. i will be getting some parts from your ever increasing stock to aid my eagerness for this build. got some more done. here i have machined the gas pedal, along with the clutch and brake pedals, which all go on their scratched pedal assemblys. got the battery support, firewall, body mounts and the tops of the front suspension installed, and not forgetting the steering mount, also began building the steering rack. By metalhead6464 at 2012-08-03 thanks for looking in. steve
