This is the model built for the NSRA Supernationals (UK) Model Show. It started out as an AMT kit, but contains no metal parts. There are plenty of scratchbuilt parts in plastic and chemiwood though, and many kit bashed parts to. The engine is from a 66 Nova, wheels are from the 48 Ford kit. The interior is scratchbuilt tuck n roll and a throw blanket on the back seat. The paint is teal pearl flake over black, with an airbrushed design on the roof, then clear coated and polished. As you can see by the trophy, I won, and the best part was receiving it from Mr Gabe Lopez, he from American Hot Rod. :) By metalhead6464 at 2012-07-31 steve

well as my PS3 has died on me for a second time, i thought i would get on with the chassis. and you know what? i'm not bothered that the PS3 has stopped working for the time being, as i am enjoying this. got lots done as you can see, with a couple of adjustments being made along the way. still got plenty to do, but will have a break on sunday for NSRA Supernationals here in the UK. cheers guys. got the doors, boot lid and front end separated from the main body. like badgass, i kept the door window frames. made progress on the chassis to, with using 3.2mm tubing, i inserted an old electric guitar string in the upright to aid the bending. i have a small bending tool to help the process and reduce the prospect of getting a fold in the plastic. two holes were drilled into the rear of the chassis, and the upright had two small rods inserted, this was to hold the upright in place. steve

Now, i have to give credit for this to Badgass (name may differ on other forums), as his build , along with other 1/16 scale pro-mods, gave me a lot of inspiration for this pro-mod. using badgass's method, i started to mark the board for the chassis. i want to use a hemi in this, and will try and scratchbuild it, but i need to do a lot of research first. i intend to use wheels from Micro Nitro with an array of after market parts and machined parts. and comments and advice are welcome. Here goes nothing................... thanks for looking in. steve

cheers guys. I used the original "glass" and fixed them into the opening, (after chopping them as well) and filled them in. -
like your build room badgass, i just have an A3 size plexiglass sheet with a cutting for a work surface at the moment. hope to fix that soon with a proper workroom. keep those updates coming.

well the hopper truck is now done. i did a little more cleaning up after the pics were taken, as you always see something. i turned a pair of exhaust pipes on my lathe and made a spreader bar out of sheet aluminium. more pics will be in the completed section. hope you all enjoyed the build. -

cheers guys. some more progress has ben made. the clear has been applied and polished, (check the reflection in the engine cover). have almost done the interior, the small turned ally piece is the emergency brake. since the pics were taken, the pick-up bed cover has been painted to match the interior. the rear number plate is an early british plate that comes in kit form. it's made up from vinyl self-adhesive plates and letters. this was put on to a piece of sheet pewter and fixed to a length of plastic and inserted into the hole for a gas cap. the head lights were turned on my lathe as was the steering column, starter button, gear lever and clocks. centre console was made from chemiwood (renshape) and toggle switches from hobby design placed into the console and dash. I picked up on this build late on, but was instantly hooked. Bill, this is a jewel of a model, it just gleams. I love the way this has come together with the machined parts, and the way you machined them. I know how you feel when you have to build up machine tools, doing that myself. I built my own version of this car, and seeing this stunning model makes me want to build another. REVELL, are you seeing this? This is a stunning piece of work, just shows what can be done in 1/16th scale.

chemiwood is the uk name for renshape. basically a resin based material that can be machined, drilled, carved or howevr you see fit. it is normally used in prototyping, university projects and general pro-modelmaking. got to work on my lathe, and machined a few parts. pulleys, brake discs and hubs, steering column, oil filter, starter motor, a couple of small tanks for the air ride system. I still have to machine up two instrument clocks, gear stick and petrol cap. the wheels and air tanks have been installed along with some engine parts. more to come........ they are only part filled in accordance to the wheel size. if the wheels were smaller in diameter, there would be more clearance between the wheels and the inner wheels wells. It's in paint at last. Have also started detailing the engine. I am thinking of putting graphics and lettering on the doors. I have the Monogram 39 Chevy Panel with the Dr Feelgood transfers (decals), but the sheet has disappeared. I do have something else in mind though. -
