  1. its time for the rear end to be done. plenty of scratchbuilding for this and modifying an axle from a pro-street 70's Nova. the last 2 pics show parts mocked up. i found that the shocks were too close to the tyres so i moved the shocks inwards. steve
  2. for the suspension to work, i needed the coil over shocks that i used on my A100 pick-up. these come from R B Motion and come in kit form. the first pic shows how you should put these together if you want the shocks to work, and this is going by the instructions. however, i found it a little cumbersome and i found it far easier just holding both ends together when the springs in place and wait for the 2 part resin to set. the shocks for the front end had to be shortened and like the rear, will be fixed in place with bolts. steve
  3. hello. more progress has been made. i had to narrow the front of the chassis so that there would be clearence for the IFS and wheel/brake assembly. the front suspension has been modified from revell's willys street rod kit, with the intention of making it functional along with steering. i have also cut the boot lid open which will be hinged. i may have to modify or scratchbuild a set of headers as there isn't much space between the engine and upper A arms. i still have the shock mounts to make as yet. steve
  4. i'm using an old Hot Rod series kit and the Model King issue. as you can see, the chassis and floor are coming along. still got to do the engine mounts suspension mounts whether that be an IFS or beam, but i'm leaning toward the former. will also put a couple of outriggers on the chassis which the rollcage will be fixed to. the floor has been filled and sanded and i've used a gearbox tunnel from a scrapped model and this was mated to a portion of the original kit tunnel, and backed up with a little pastic sheet. this was filled and sanded smooth then fixed to the floor after a number of test fits. i left a little overlap of the floor on the underside, this will be sanded back in due course. steve
  5. time for a new project. this will be a pro-street austin, with a ross gibson/scale repros plus motor. metalflake red paint that may have flames on the front, haven't decided yet. made a start on the chassis and floor. steve
  6. thanks for the kind comments everyone. steve
  7. thanks for looking. steve
  8. the fleetliner is now ready to roll. check out the reast of the pics in under glass. thanks for looking. steve
  9. i have tried making them bigger, but photobucket pixlates them too much. here are the rear leaf springs just before final fabrication and shown with base colour and etched parts in place. steve :D
  10. thanks for looking. steve
  11. the engine is 99% done, just have the exhaust to finish and have now started doing the suspension. here are pics of the rear leaf springs which are being scratchbuilt. the front end is mostly stock with the amt kit parts. i used the kit leaf springs as a guide for length and curve of the new ones. the bumper is the amt custom part, with a 57 chevy bar, a wire mesh painted black sits behind. i covered the headers in alclad and turned a pair of mufflers along with an ignition coil on my lathe. steve
  12. well its coming along nicely, and as you can see, the paint is now sanded and polished. the chassis and interior are now in place along with the engine. i used half round styrene for the door caps which covered in bare metal. the seats are from a chevy barretta as is the rear window for the windscreen. half round styrene was also used for the rear bumper. thanks for looking. steve
  13. thanks everyone......... .....and here are some more progress pics. the final colour is on and has now been clear coated, it just now needs rubbing down and polish. the engine is coming along with some turned parts and the chassis is painted, i will put some pics of them up soon. steve
  14. ok, following a suggestion from mike i added a split rear window. i have been thinking of doing parts as soon as i get myself sorted house wise. as you can see, i started adding some colour. the roof and bonnet (hood) will be masked off and black will be sprayed, but i decided not to do any graphics. the chassis will also be sprayed in pearl orange along with the rear axle. steve
  15. some more progress......with some lathe work, which includes gear stick, clocks, starter switch, steering column and headlight bezzels. i decided to use the rear lights from the 32 ford sedan kit, which meant re-designing the rear fenders. steve
  16. did some more fabrication on the dash and got the instrument pod done. the holes are drilled ready for the yet to be turned clocks. most of the bodywork is done. i still have to decide on the rear lights and turn a pair of headlights in order to complete the bodywork around the headlights. the engine bay is almost done and just need to work on the window surrounds before laying on some primer. steve
  17. ok, here is some more progress showing the scuttle and the beginings of the dashboard and centre console, all of which are made from chemiwood. steve
  18. i'm using the amt fleetline chassis, with a few mods of course. i want to get this thing down in the weeds, and so far i have channeled the body but there will be more work on the suspension. there's lots more to come, you can bet on that. steve
  19. i haven't done a wip for a while, its about time i did one. the body is the jimmy flintstone leadstone body, and i hope to get away from the cadzilla look. the colour will black on top, with pearl orange on the bottom half. there will be a scallop spear on the bonnet and rear of the body. just started on scratchbuilding the scuttle, dashboard and console. more to come. thanks for looking. :D steve
  20. great to see some new additions to line. these wheels are superb and i will get some more sets for my future projects. steve
  21. cheers everybody. it was something different as most of my rides are shiny with just a hint of use. but this was a challenge doing the patina, and modifying the bodywork considering the thickness, or lack of thickness in the plastic. steve
  22. thanks guys. raul, i agree with you, the plate should read nasty but i couldn't find one. steve

    batmobile

just completed the dark knight's hot rod. i didn't do much detailing on this, apart from the lights in the cockpit (fibre optics) and head and tail ights. i did want to build a little bit of gotham that would set the car off. this was done with a chopping board, blocks of chemiwood and pieces from the 1/6 miniature set from "Batman Begins" the snow is scale snow sprinkled over wood glue. thanks for looking steve
  24. this was built along side the chopped 30 A 5 window. the kit is the revel "good guys" 29/30 sedan. an old 29 roadster chassis was modified with a scratchbuilt floor. the roof was chopped a painted with Ford Signal Yellow laquer, this was left to harden about half way so that i could chip at the paint. this was then airbrushed with water based custom mixed rust (3 shades) and when each colour was dry, i lightly sanded the surface. the flathead is from a revell 48 Ford, the tyres are stock kit items, but had to be modified to fit the torque thrusts. many other parts were scavenged from the other kits and scratchbuilt. thanks for looking. steve
  25. here is my lastest, a Jimmy Flintstone bodied 30 model A. i used the chassis from revells 29 ford sedan, the engine is from the 49 merc kit. the back axle is from the 69 dodge charger and the wheels from an amt raiders kit. the front suspension, nerf bars, headlights and dash are from the 32 duece 5 window. the rest of the parts were either scratchbuilt or scrounged from the parts bin. thanks for looking. steve
