  1. thats one bad camino. i love all the holes and rust on all of your projects wolfie, totally wild. steve
  2. thank you jim. steve
  3. thanks guys. i have started getting my parts in, and the cragar wheels from micro nitro came today. i just have to find a set of tyres to fit them. looks like i'm going hunting again. should get the rest of the parts for the engine on monday, i hope. steve
  4. thanks brizio, glad you like it. steve
  5. thanks modlbldr. the paint came from a rattle can believe or not. there is a company here in the UK that does special finishes for spray guns, air brushes and spray cans. i like the smoothster kit, but not the coupster as i thought that the roof looked a bit weird. i also couldn't understand why they didn't put a better fitting rear pan and steering linkage in. the wheels are good though. what kit are you going to build? steve
  6. thanks raul. i thought about using the other chassis, but i decided to use just the engine. great looking pick-up BTW and the stance suits it. might do a little bit of light modelmaking as i had my cast put on my arm. i was told to keep my fingers moving, so what better way eh? steve
  7. thats how i do it. using flat paint, and after it has dried, rub you finger on the surface. the oil from your finger tip will add the sheen. to avoid brush strokes showing up, spray on a coat then either spot spray or stipple the paint on for the second coat, this should give a texture but experiment first depending on the paint. steve
  8. thanks guys. this was my first model car after an eight year break. i didn't like the original kit, ie the roof and the fact that the rear didn't fit or that testors still didn't put in any steering linkage. it was a good job a have lots of parts. steve
  9. cheers. not a problem, i'll be happy to share more pics. steve
  10. no problem mate. i dont have that many wip pics, but i would be happy in sharing build information. cheers, i was happy with it when i painted it. if i do something similar, i may try it on another model. steve
  11. this is the "moving violation" kit i built in '83. after a slight mishap, it was re-sprayed in candy purple, so the colour for this build has to be purple, but pearl. thanks for looking. steve
  12. i thought i would post some progress shots. steve
  13. hello. this is another of my current projects. it started as a matchbox/amt kit that my dad had started years ago, but he he never finished it. i began stripping it back to bare plastic, and set out to change it from a bel-ait to a 210. i have the chassis modified to take the scale repros plus engine, which is half done. also from scal repros are the wheels, although i will have make my own brake discs and hubs. the rear leaf springs are from one of the old revell vans and the axle from their 34 ford. the front leaf springs will be scratchbuilt. like my willys gasser, this will have to till my arm mends. thanks for looking. steve
  14. here are a few more pics. it wasn't getting a good image of the interior before, as the roof is so low, but these shots look ok. i also wanted some of the flake to show in a pic, hence the top shot. steve
  15. thanks for the compliments. raul no problem. here are a few wip pics as well as shot of the finished grill. it took two attempts to build the grill as even though i worked it out on paper, it just didn't look right on the model. i was going to put photoetched mesh behind it, but living on a student loan at the time prevented that. hope the pics help. steve
  16. i just read the thread on the Jairus Watson artwork challenge, and saw one of the kits was the coupster, and thought "oh dear, i built this too soon". this was the first model car i had built in over eight years, the 39 chevy woodster was the last. this is the coupster kit, but i used the extra parts thats used for the smoothster. i added the engine from revell 32 ford with turned ally parts including the wheels. the paint is metalflake pearl blue over metallic blue. thanks for lookig. steve
  17. thanks guys. i'm getting plastered, but sadly not through alcohol, my arm is being put in a cast tomorrow. the engine was out a top fuel car, a revell one i think, although i did use single ignition valve cover from a revell 69 dodge charger as well as the headers. steve
  18. love to see when it is built. i have this kit to, although i did start it and was going to be a lowrider. i painted in testors dusty rose pearl but i have since stripped off the paint as i wasn't happy with the finish. i have seen this and the delivery kit on express models site, for $30-$35. i thought i was reading a different mag when i bought SA a few years back. this explains why i keep looking at my old copies of SAE all the time, being in the UK, i can't get these mags retail. steve
  19. this is one of the projects that i'm working on, although i have to take a break from it following surgery on my right arm. it is the revell model king kit, and it is a tribute to the "moving violation" kit i built back the early eighties, (this model is in my gallery). the blower and pulleys are from scale repros plus. the velocity stacks are from Mr Model with fine wire mesh cut to size and inserted. the A & N fittings are from hobby design, with bolts and spark plugs from r b motion. i combined throttle linkage from s & s specialties and detail master and scratchbuilt the return spring. i decided to scratchbuild new leaf springs and brackets. here the rear springs at this stage. the springs are just mocked up with r b motion bolts holding them in place. here is a mock up on how the looks so far. the engine is from the revell willys street rod and i will use cragar super trick ally wheels from micro nitro when they arrive. thanks for looking. steve
  20. hello all. here is another of my projects. it is based on the AMT chevy wagon rod and was built in 2001 when i was in my first year at uni. since they had a well equipped workshop, i took the opportunity to turn some parts in aluminium. i also scratchbuilt many parts from chemiwood, plastic and metal. body mods include opening the doors, ditching the running boards, pancaking the hood, new light posts and smoothing out the body. this was going to be entered in to a model show back in 2001, but with only the bonnet (hood) to clear coat, the model show was canceled with two weeks to go. i officially completed this a month ago by putting a clear coat on it. thanks for looking. steve
  21. here are few more of my sketches. the 37 ford ended being built. thanks for looking steve
  22. this is 100% real, if it isn't i'll eat my computer.
  23. cheers, i can't wait to get back on this, however i have to attend hospital and get plastered i am still waiting for my wheels and i have other parts coming from a couple of outlets here in the UK. other than that i go to Mr Model or Scale Dreams to name two. i have tried to get custom aluminium wheels from JPS but i get no replies from e-mails. steve
  24. thanks guys. i hope that this will be an inspiration for different dodge A100 trucks, and i wonder if anyone has used the jimmy flintstone bodies? steve
  25. thanks chuck. as i have so many early thirties fords, it might be me to build the first one. however, i have to wait until my right arm is better. steve
