thanks guys. i know that if this thing were full size, it would scare the hell out of me driving. but i wouldn't care. :D steve

the 34 is done. :D and i was more than happy with the paint second time around. the colour, the ghost flames and the pinstripe decals have turned out great, but the clear coat after polishing is SMMMMOOOOOOTH. it was a far cry from the first attempt which didn't even get to that stage. the overall look was to be a bad ass hot rod, and a used one at that, ie, no trailer queen. :D steve

i now have the exhausts done. they were scratch from plastruct rod and from an idea on a 1:1 34 ford that was featured in a 1994 copy of "American Rodder" both were painted in "Alclad" and heat blooms from clear Tamiya were applied using cotton buds. the body is now in candy yellow, with pinstripes from revell's 49 Merc. i did attempt to turn my own tyre valves, one came out fine but lost it in the wharf of aluminium. steve
-
at last, it's on it's wheels. i have drilled a hole in each rim for the valves but don't know whether to buy a set or attempt to turn them. steve
-
the body has now receiving it's re-paint, and located the tail lights and door mirror. i have also gone back to doing the ghost flames. the sparkle pearl purple is the next colour to be shot followed by candy yellow then the clear. the tail lights are from revell's 59 chevy with the rings cut from ally tubing. i have made progress on the chassis and interior with turned brake discs, drums and steering column. the torque thrust centers have been painted black. steve
-
thanks guys, however i have had to strip the paint off due to the body hitting the floor (top half of Tamiya paint stand fell off) and damaged the paint. i'm also still recovering from attending Sonisphere (rock and metal music festival) here in the UK. so its back to primer and start again............oh the joys of model making. :-)

a slight change of plan for the flames. i decided to "patina" the black accents in the flames which will change when the candy yellow is applied. this will give a hint of a rat look to it, aided by the skull grill. i did cover the grill shell with baremetal, but thought it looked far better in colour. steve

got the chassis in to paint, which started off as matt black, then silver, then yellow pearl metallic. the next was a couple of passes of sparkle pearl purple, the colour used on the willys zombie gasser. the final stage will be candy yellow then clear coat. the body is going the same procedure, but will be masked for ghost flames, which will be in candy yellow over silver. steve

hey there rom. i got my torque thrust wheels from HIROBOY.COM and i know what you mean these wheels are a pig to get hold of. i wanted to get either the big n littles set, or the pro-street set, but nobody stocks them. i hope you find the set you are after as they are great wheels. steve

i have some more progress on the chassis. i have modified the rear x-member and put in a new floor. i also used the rear end from a revell austin, and scratched new brackets for the R B MOTION shocks, the leaf spring is from the 32 orange crate. thanks for looking steve
-
well i have made some more progress and as you can see, i done the grill shell so it will take an etched skull grill insert (the tracknose that i cut off will go elsewhere). i have also scratchbuilt the front screen trim along with the engine mounts and gearbox x-member. thanks for looking. steve

here are some more progress pics. i got to work on my lathe and turned out an oil filter, and two pulleys to match the parts by parks pulley. the alternator is part of the resin engine kit, but used a n etched bracket and ally bolts. i have also done some mods on the body, namely the firewall and making sure that the channeled body sits nice on the chassis. steve

ok, here goes another project. ithe body is a jimmy flintstone tracknose, which i chopped off, ouch!! the side and rear windows were opened up a little more because of the severity of the roof chop, and i wanted to make sure that the interior could be seen. it was either that, or attempt to open the doors or, cut a hole in the roof. i bought an AMT 34 5 window on evil bay, to use the extra parts, such as the interior tub and grill shell. the ross gibson motor went together well, and i used Mr Model injector stacks Model Car Garage Skiull detail set and Scale Repros Plus dress up kit. the only thing i need decide on, is the wheels. my own turned moon discs, or Detail Master Torque Thrusts. hmmm colour will be candy yellow over silver and maybe some graphics. steve

thanks for the kind comments guys. the tank is from www.model-cars.org.uk next up is a jimmy flintstone chopped34 ford, with a ross gibson rat trap chevy big block. steve B)

finished at last, and not even an operation on my arm or a cast could stop the ZOMBIE GASSER!! :D steve :D
-
its finished. well........almost, as i am still waiting for a detail master fire extinguisher to put in. i will do that when it arrives in the post. the other pics will be under glass. thanks for looking and the inputs. :D steve

thanks guys. i cut the first coats of clear back, added hand painted lettering on the pick-up bed then laid some more clear down. just waiting for it to cure before polishing. i also got most of the interior done but still needs a little bit of work before i'm happy with it. you can see how the will look in these mock up pics. i haven't decided whether to put the head lights on or not, as they are full chrome and never been a fan or them. or to blank them off like the willys gasser i saw in car kulture deluxe magazine. thanks for tuning in. steve

ok, got the colour on, sparkle pearl, purple, and since the sun has made a brief appearance, i put some clear on. i will leave this for a few days before cutting back and re-coating. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki thanks for tuning in. steve

thanks russ. made some more progress and managed to get the first coats of paint on. i have improved the door hinges so that they hang better. i made a new set of rear fenders from two revell 32 ford kits rear fenders. basically chopped them half way and mated the two halves together. the reason for doing this was that the original fenders were too narrow for the tyres that i am using. i'm using a hood scoop from the monogram badman kit, and just cleaned it up a little. the matt black is the base coat for the sparkle pearl purple. think nothing of it mate. as it happens, the rear are fitted that way as per the instructions. if i'm not mistaken, the Austin gasser is the same, i would check but i can't be arsed to get the box out.

thanks for the comments guys. ahh, the joys of customizing, great isn't it? as i'm not building a replica, it means i have a bit of creative freedom, and this meant changing the gearbox. this came from a dodge charger, which is why the starter is on the left. the gearbox that went with the engine (41 willys street rod kit) was too bulky, and meant building a new trans tunnel. i also relocated the magneto, as the rear of the blower hangs over the original location. however this was planned from the start. steve
-
the headers are now painted and have installed along with the front (69 dodge charger) and rear shocks. i have added detail wire for the radiator fan and this was from a late model chevy. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki thanks for looking. steve

a bit more prgress. i had to hunt for a pair of headers, and came across ones from an MPC 53 ford flip nose pick-up. also got a rough idea where the opening will be for the stacks. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki thanks for tuning in. steve

thanks for the pics raul. i better make the adapter plate before i put the headers on. :P steve
-
thanks raul, i have the opening roughly how i want it, but once i have the body in its final position then i can decide. have you got pics on line placement for the twin oil filter? thanks tumbler. you know what? i thought it was real to, 'till i looked again. thanks dwc43, i do have a set of those shocks, from e-bay and i am in the middle of sorting the shocks out, but it may not be the r b motion ones. steve
