Well I got a Job today doing something I love aside from building models and thats working on 1:1 cars. Me and my landlord are opening a mechanics shop right here on the property where we both live. I'll be using his tools (as I lost all of mine Loong story and don't want to go into it). His shop. But I'm going to be the lead mechanic and get paid good. So I'm happy it's been a long time coming and glad it's time has come. I start tomorrow doing an engine swap on a 59 chevy apache stepside.

A MOST POST-APOCALYPSE 2012 TO YOU TOO
sweptline64 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
as long as It isn't like a couple month build and like 8 months or even a year I'm in already got a glue bomb I was planning this type of build for. But as for timeline I'm a slow builder and also have to have the time to get money to get parts but I would deffinitly be In. Oh and derrick I would also be interested in some of the zombies. -
Failure is always an option.

are you sure it was c4 and not rocket fuel cause man that cannonball would have to have been really flying to cause that much damage. I think just pay the damages and a little for pain and suffering to the homeowners is all that should happen. But I grew up around firearms and missfires can and do happen no matter how careful you are thats why I always treat every gun as if it's loaded and always make sure it's pointed in a safe direction. When I lived in Post falls Idaho we used to go to the shooting range at farragut state park which is also the firing range for the millitary up there I seen them using there mortars go flying wrong directions one of them almost took out the bunker down by the firing line that people would sit in to go reset the targets. Now this was back in the early '80's. Also one time when I was working down in the bunker for the couer d alene muzzleloaders (which me and my dad were members of) setting up the steel sillouetes between rounds and touching up the paint we learned that we don't sit in the middle of the bunker sit to one side cause we had a stray bullet ricoche of the target and darn near hit me in the shoulder it went right over my right shoulder by half an inch I heard it fly by. So strange things can happen even when you think everything is safe. -
wow that's beautiful good job.

My Inspirational Model Car
sweptline64 replied to Romell R's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
For me I would have to say it was Pat covert I always loved his models and tried to do better. But then when I got back into modeling about a year ago and found this site to find more inspiration and tutorials I have to say Guys Like Rommel, Dr cranky, and everybody else here has been so helpful and all the info here is so informative. Thank you everybody that has influenced me and keep up the good work. Cause you are all starting to influence my middle daughter who sits and reads the info on here with me and wants to build models. in fact she just finished her first one and it was a snap tite kit I'll post pics in under glass later on so you guys can see it. -

i've been using toothpics and foam blocks -
well I never thought of using one of thoose now I got to run out and get one. The fine line drafters pens work great for putting the black in on trim and anywhere else you need a fine black line also.

well thank you everybody I tried freezing it and I just pulled it out and started working with it and the freezing does work and here are my results so far. a little more work and this one will be ready for a rebuild. Thanks again everybody. The help I can get here as well as the inspiration or as dr. cranky calls it eye candy keeps me here. I'll Post build pictures as soon as I get started on the rebuild.

what an awesome subject to make into a dragster and your build is looking awesome as well I'm in awe of how good it looks can't wait to see this one finished.

It's looking like a good start to me the front really looks like a stude so I say put it away and come back to it later, That's what I do when I get frustrated with a build which is why I usually have about five or six builds going at one time. But if you ultimatley decide to burn it then I would recomend putting a model rocket engine into it and watch it fly then explode me and a freind did that to a corvette when I was a kid it was fun to watch it skate across the ground then go vertical and explode. But seriously put it away and come back to it later.

well I ran to wal-mart today to get some home supplies and found this sitting in the parking lot(I almost ran it over). so when I got home I imediatly tore it apart to scavenge off of it what I wanted or needed for some of my other builds and this is what I kept. now this is what I have left that I don't want and it's going in the swap section.

Ok I just recently got a swap meet special set of kits for $1 a piece the first is revell mustang lowrider convertible it's all there except for a couple of pieces for the rims. the next one is the one I need help with and the reason for this thread it's revell's '69 shelby mustang 2 'n 1 and as you can see from the following pics it has been glued together and there are a lot of pieces missing so I thought it would be a good project to try and do a post apocalyptic build with especialy since the entire front grill assembly is missing. But what I want to know is how to get this thing unglued I know there is away to do it because I've heard of it being done But I don't know how so please help me get this one unglued so I can start reconstruction of it the way I want it. Thanks everybody

i'm looking for any model car clubs around fresno california. the only one i know of is the griffins part of ipma but when i tried to find out more info about them and go to a meeting all i got was a very cold shoulder. i actually went to a meeting to check it out and was asked to leave. so i'm looking for any other clubs in my area any help would be great. i'd even be interested in starting a club if there are other members around here that would like to start one.
