  1. OK Bob, here goes ............ the Rastetter A/A is a Comp Resins body sitting on a Willy Borsch chassis, the engine is a Ross Gibson Stage II hemi, Comp Resins 12 spoke front wheels, Pro Tech details, MCW lacquer and custom decals by Keven Ellis The Hazen & Velebil AA/FA is also a Comp Resins body on a slightly modified Willy Borsh chassis, Comp Resins also provided the front wheels and the Moon valve covers, Pro Tech details, Tamiya white paint and Slixx decals The "Big John" phantom AA/A is again a Comp Resins body on a Bantam Blast chassis, Comp Resins front wheels and injector & scoop, Pro Tech details, custom mixed Cobracolors lacquer and parts box decals ........... this build was based on the beautiful Reschlein & Trisch AA/A from Ohio The Rat Trap phantom is a Bantam Blast kit with the rear fenders cut off and the addition of a Ross Gibson small block Chevrolet engine .............. Cobracolors lacquer and Slixx decals I don't like fenders on Bantam bodies, but I built a spare phantom with fenders from a Bantam Blast kit ............ Cobracolors lacquer and parts box decals And finally the Fiat Topolino is from the AMT double dragster kit with tires & wheels from the Revell Tony Nancy kit, Cobracolors lacquer and parts box decals
  2. Thank you for your very nice comments Michael ............ because of the very issues you describe, I "cheated" when making the cover for that car, it's painted on ............. the body is a Competition Resins fenderless Bantam body ............ I sanded the cowl fairing totally smooth and then painted the body with MCW white lacquer ............... the cover itself was then masked off and brush painted with Testors flat black paint ............. it was put on heavy so the cover looked rough and partially wrinkled like naugahyde ........... then I added sanded photoetch bolt heads from Pro Tech to simulate the snaps which hold the cover down to the body ............. Thanks again for the kind words ......... they are greatly appreciated John

  11. In early 1984 most of the Piedmont chassis' were still red (from the previous two year's red scheme from the Budweiser sponsorship) ............ and they had installed a blue window net to match the new blue and white Piedmont paint scheme ............. however, as the year progressed and they built new chassis', at least one chassis unit was changed to grey ( I have seen a couple of pictures of a grey chassis on a 1984 publicity car) ............ by 1985 nearly all of the chassis units were being painted Piedmont blue ................ and by 1986 (the year of the Olds Delta 88) all of the chassis' were blue Here's the '84 car showing the red chassis unit And here is a publicity photo taken at the end of the '84 season or just before the start of the '85 season showing the grey cage And finally the '86 Delta 88 showing the Piedmont blue cage unit One thing you have to remember is that these cars changed configurations, and looks, on a race by race basis .............. what you saw one week might not be what you would see the next week Here's a look at my replica of the 1985 late year Monte Carlo And my rendition of the '86 Olds Delta 88 The 1984 Championship (red chassis, blue window net) car is still on my "to do" list
  12. Very nice build sir, beautifully done
  13. ....... cracking decals prompted me to update and re-do the 2000 Kellogg's Corn Flakes Monte Carlo ................ owned by Rick Hendrick and driven by Terry Labonte ............. the 2000 regular paint scheme was unique at the time in that it was the only year that the car did not have the image of Cornelius, the Kellogg's rooster on it anywhere
