  1. It looks like the engine from the MONOGRAM GMC Jimmy High Roller #2273
  2. I'll make a stab at it some time this week.
  3. What's a good deal? I've seen a couple in the $30-$40 dollar range. But, if it is to be reissued, I'm assuming it will likely be in the $25 range
  4. 1:1 Car Dimensions: Avanti - Weight 3095.3 lbs Length / Width / Height 192.4 in / 70.4 in / 53.9 in Wheelbase 109 in 65 Mustang - Weight 2,562 lbs Length / Width / Height 181.6 in/ 68.2 in/ 51.1 in Wheelbase: 108 inches I also have the original Aurora Avanti and can compare the two if there is interest?
  5. Not all kits have the instructions on the site, but it is a place to look, particularly for current kits. Drastic Plastic web site is a good place to check in general. For Japanese (and some other kits), Hobbysearch Japan also has instructions.
  6. Then why are you still living in Northern Illinois?
  7. Did you check the Revell web site? http://manuals.hobbico.com/rmx/85-4244.pdf http://manuals.hobbico.com/rmx/85-4275.pdf
  8. ROGER THAT!! IU was thinking of a Revell 99 Silverado converted to 4x4 using the Perry's Resin piece or 90 SIlverado using the same Perry's piece or a 72 Chevy Longbed. Use some aftermrket shovels and other accessories to put in the bed and VOILA!
  9. In case anyone is interested in the soon to arrive P/U with snow plow: http://manuals.hobbico.com/rmx/85-7222.pdf
  10. The event was held at Pheasant Run resort in Saint Charles Illinois. Although all Pontiac (or a few Oaklands), there were some interesting cars. Here are some pix to whet the appetite. And the link to the album is below. http://s150.photobucket.com/albums/s110/exotics_builder/2012%20POCI%20Convention/
  11. Didn't even have that one on the radar(as not knowing about it). Sure you guys were looking for me?
  12. There were a couple of car shows in the area about 5 miles apart, one at Grossinger Chevrolet and the other the Barrington Concours d’Elegance at the Mackray Country Club. Between the two, there is something for everyone. The album has 295 pictures. Here is a sample of what is in the album: Next weekend is the Pontiac Nationals and I’ll be there with Cars in Miniature doing a model contest as well. http://s150.photobucket.com/albums/s110/exotics_builder/2012-07-15%20Car%20Shows/
  13. You have your priorities set right. That's the most important!!
  14. There was a car show at the Wauconda Illinois Park District. There were not a lot of cars, but some very interesting ones. There were a few modern Chevy/GMC trucks that just resurrect the desire for the model manufacturers to do some trucks. Anyway, here are a few photos and a link to the album: And the link to the album: http://s150.photobucket.com/albums/s110/exotics_builder/2012%20Wauconda%20Car%20Show/
  15. My very good friend from Bellevue WA, Jim Greene, visited us for a few days. He is spending June doing visits to family in Iowa and then to Nashville for his sister’s granddaughters wedding. Jim and I were members of the Puget Sound Auto Modelers Association (he still is) and, since we lived within two miles of each other and had common interests, did a lot of model and big car related stuff. Even more beneficial, both our wives were not interested in this, so they let us go off and play. Anyway, I took Jim to the Lake Michigan Model Car Club Meeting and on Sunday, we did a bunch of shows. First was the Oakbrook Illinois Classic Car Show: Next, after stops at Des Plaines Hobbies and Ad Venture Hobby, we went to a Chevrolet car show at an Auto Dealer in Libertyville Illinois: That’s Jim checking out a Grand Sport “clone”. As Jim spent about 20 years working around a real one, he applied a much more critical eye than I could. On Monday, I took him up to Model Empire in Milwaukee and then to the Volo Auto Museum: I have a bit of a problem that it is called a museum since it is mainly a consignment car sales store with some movie clones (some quite gauche). Anyway, it was a fun time. Here’s a link to the album with all the pictures http://s150.photobucket.com/albums/s110/exotics_builder/2012%20Fathers%20Day%20Car%20Shows/
  16. Here is the link to the Guestbook for Bill in case you wish to leave a comment: http://obits.dignitymemorial.com/dignity-memorial/obituary.aspx?n=William-Lastovich&lc=7156&pid=157964420&mid=5131052&locale=en-US
  17. Bill Lastovich, a mainstay of the team at Revell, lost his battle with cancer. He was a good friend and strong supporter of the Hobby and Lake Michigan Model Car Club (LMMCC). At many of the club meetings, we sat at the same table and had great chats. In the last few months he made us aware of his health problems and we all prayed for the best. At the last meeting, he appeared to be holding his own and we were hoping the Chemo would be o benefit. Alas, it wasn't. Amongst his many other talents and interests, Bill was an avid collector of HO railroad items, 1/43 scale models and, recently, got into the 1/25 Indy Cars and period racing cars like the Cheetah and Trans Am. He was responsible for a lot of the tweaks in recent Revell releases, such as the Drive in tray and accoutrements in the 55 Chevy sedan. I thank God that I had the opportunity to know Bill and wish his family peace. Gerry
  18. Seems that way. Didn't see any inidcation of judging or awards and people were coming and going during the time I was there.
  19. This is the second year of this event and is held the first Saturday of the month. This year it is being held alternatively in the northern Chicago suburb of Bannockburn and the southwestern suburb of Bolingbrook. There were a variety of vehicles, including some dealers bringing their “newbies” to display. Here are some enticements and the link is below: http://s150.photobucket.com/albums/s110/exotics_builder/2012-06-02%20Supercar%20Saturday/
  20. Model Car Garage and Pro Tech do. They are printed on acetate and come with panels.
  21. Microscale "gold" parallel stripe decal (although it looks more copperish than gold) and Modelers flourescent red and yellow multiwidth decals. I had these in the decal stash for some years (late 90's) and this is one of the first shots at using them. I used some of the yellow some years back, but haven't touched them for a long time. I was looking at using SLIXX graphics, but couldn't find anything to fit the body style and provide a nice separation. I thought of making my own decal (I have a color laser printer) but decided on this combination.
  22. I experimented and shot it directly over Tamiya fine white primer that had been polished down to 2000 grit. Then the entire model was sprayed with Testors Wet Look Clear. In the future, I think I will decant some of these and go with the airbrush. The Testors spray can come out fine one time and try to orange peel the next. And I keep the noozle clean and clear.
  23. Got slowed down because of work, but finally have the final clear coat on and started the polishing process. About 75% through with polishing. In the pictures, you’ll see some compound residue in the seams. Getting ready for a visit from a very good friend from Seattle. Then it will be back to finish polish, chassis, engine and interior.
  24. Velocity (previously HD Theater) is HD only and is channel 205 on my Comcast.
