  1. Sorry I couldn't reply earlier. Since the forum changed, I have not been able to reply from the office. Only read. It will be one of these colors: Still musing. Thoughtful suggestions welcome.
  2. I am converting this to US Spec and a later model with the clear roof. Also changing the seat upholstery. Still deciding on diamond pattern versus Daytona style seats. Right now I’m leaning on Daytona style. I’ve corrected some of the exterior, including the lips around the wheel wells which were too thick. I also glued the body to the frame and then used an UMI razor saw to separate the body so I have a cleaner body side sill. Stay tuned for more.
  3. Got back to working on a Revell 56 Chevy Delray as a street machine. I’ve got off the Powerglide from the engine and added a Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland Turbo Hydramatic transmission. Thus I’ll still keep the column shifter. I also got a Model Car Garage Edelbrock kit for SMB Chevy. Also include a hi-rise SMB Chevy manifold from the parts box and will use a Holley carburetor. Still haven’t locked in the two tone color scheme other than Classic White. Stay tuned for more on that. Stay tuned for more.
  4. This is a two day all Pontiac event. Arrivals were slow today likely because of the overnight rain and threat for more. The indoor display was filling in, but the outdoor display was slow to load. There may be more tomorrow, but I won’t be there because we have a prior commitment. This is the first year for a model contest. By the time I left, not much had arrived. Advertising was sparse, so we’re not sure how effective this first year will be. 5. No it does not have detail. I just went downstairs to check the kit out.
  6. It was not a pickup. If it were, I would have taken some more shots. It was tough to get good shooting spots as it was, but something really unique would deserve it.
  7. July 2 Rolling Meadows Car Cruise I went over to this weekly event. The weather was very nice, but the location and time made for a difficult time to take pictures. The way the lot was situated, the lowering sun just washed the area with long shadows. Add that to glare that was tough to work around, made taking pictures difficult. An added attraction, if you will, was the Volo Illinois Auto Museum had some movie cars on display to advertise a July 3 show. And, riding in the Bat Mobile (with a Volo Museum sign added) was George Barris. This way to the Album: Rolling Meadows Car Cruise
  8. I have the full 5 Megapixel images on my hard drive if you want detail. Link is to the Album. Car Show Album
  9. It was confirmed at our Model Car Club meeting on Saturday that Ed Sexton is definitely back at Revell. He was to start Monday 6/21.
  10. Sorry to disappoint, but I am not. A member of a club I belong to works at Revell. He says that they do peruse the forums, amongst other ways to gather information and feedback. He’s an honest person and I take him at his word. Sadly, their budget for covering events, let alone sponsoring, is considerably less than it used to be.
  11. Revell has told me they watch this forum as well as others, but for obvious reasons, do not reveal themselves.
  12. On a family related trip to Mountain Home Arkansas we came across this small hot rod shop with some interesting vehicles. The 30-32 hybrid (they called it) is for sale for $50,000. Here’s the link to the photos I took at their shop. Mountain Home Street Rods
  13. I did this once in the verly early nineties and it worked out fairly well. I used some decal paper and applied dry transfer lettering to it. The lettering in this case was white. I used fine drawn pencil line on the decal paper where it would be out of range of the cut of the carrier. I then applied Microscale liquid decal film on top as well.
  14. You’re right about 10 days. Time does fly. Well, my mother-in-law passed away in early January, so now it is just a matter of turning in my paperwork to early out and figure out timing of relocating. We still have her property to resolve, and have until July to do it. We are planning on making a recon trip back in June, dates to be locked in the few weeks. We have in mind either Vancouver, WA or Snohomish county, likely Edmonds or Mukilteo area. If we are in the vicinity when the SABA meeting is held, I’d like to stop by and say hello. The big question now is the housing market and how much of a loss will we get on the home we’re in now. I’ll talk to you soon.
  15. Thanks Dave, I sure miss going to that show and others out there. Gerry
  16. Here’s a close up: As you can see, supplied is a special hex key lug nut. I have seen these for some wheels on cars due to design and lack of space for the socket. That said, I have never seen a 599 or 612 with the monolithic wheels have that kind of lug nut. But I have an option. I picked these up a few weeks ago. These are more like the lugs I see on the wheels (close up below): So, I would believe that waiting for the Scale Productions 599 monolithic wheels would be better for most of us. I actually got the lug nut sets more for diorama or correcting an issue. Never did I think I would do so as soon as now. I got these from Mediamix Hobby in Singapore. I normally order from them only for items I can’t get here. Normally, I would go to Strada Sports for items like this. Amongst other vendors, Kevin carries Hobby Design, Scale Productions and Tuner Model Manufactory. The items above are not yet in his catalog, but are coming.
  17. I believe you're right on the Scale Production Wheels. I was thinking of ordering a set of those from Kevin at Strada Sports. BTW, I also got one Hobby Design PE set for the Revell Ferarri California.
  18. Just got them today (Snow delayed delivery: Here are the wheels (wide and wider): And yes, there are separate lug nuts and included air valves:
  19. Having moved to this area from the Pacific Northwest, I've experienced flatulence that has caused more shaking However, the Northern Illinois quakes are unrelated to the New Madrid fault zone which is southern Illinois and the big cities that could be impacted by a big shaker are St. Louis and Memphis. In 1811, a series of quakes that were estimated (not a lot of people around) to be magnitude 8 range actually changed the course of the Mississippi river. Back in Seattle we went through a 6.8 and the only impact was a tipped over tall pepper mill and an hour and a half power outage. How much damage an earthquake can cause is dependent on a lot of factors besides magnitude.
  20. There is the California wheel and stock suspensions in the box. Check the pics in the initial post to see if that answers the question. Otherwise, I can do more detail later.
  21. Here's a closeup pic: I have yet to check the Model Car Garage 57 Chevy PE set to see how the side etch matches to this. I'l likely do that this evening
  22. You mean the body side panels? Yes. I'll take a close up photo later this morning after a conference call I need to be on
  23. Yes it is a Bel Air. And there is all the trim for the Bel Air and 3 wheel styles and you can build stock or California Wheels version. There is separate chrome trim for the rear fin detail:
