  1. Sorry. Every pic I took is on the site. It was hard to get good shots of a lot of the cars because of the judging, people getting in the way and staying in the way and bringing a group of kids (scout troop?) through and explaining the cars to them.
  2. We’re getting down to the end of outdoor car show season. Today’s event was an invitation only Concours with a variety of classes and an interesting mix of different types of cars. Enjoy the pictures. BTW, the gentleman in one of the photographs is none other than David Hobbs, currently a SPEED commentator and formerly a renowned race car driver. I bit my lip trying not to ask him why he seems so biased towards Ron Dennis and McLaren. Go to the link for the pictures. 2008 Barrington Concours D'Elegance
  3. Yes, Steven’s International has gotten these in and my LHS ordered one for me and I picked it today: It’s huge! I’m planning to convert to a motor home for a diorama. It will be a 2009 project and likely take some time. More details on that later. Anyway, the LHS price was $139.99 before my discount. So, those of you wanting one, now’s the time to act.
  4. I'll be there with the Lake Michigan Model Car Club (LMMCC) supporting the Make and Take.
  5. Went to the Cruise-In last night. Many of the same cars from 3 weeks ago and quite a bit new. A lot more vehicles had their hoods open so I took engine bay detail shots as well. We got there about 6:20 PM and you the sun was already low in the sky. It was tough to get a lot of shots because of the sun and the shadows. But I did the best I could (Dave Lindsay please be kind). Anyway, below are some teasers of what’s in the album. As usual, the photos are 1024 x 768, reduced down from 5 megapixels. This way to the photo album:
  6. Well, a bit of delay. Last Sunday, there a Concours in Geneva Illinois. There was quite a variety of cars there, but the number of entries seemed down from previous years even though the weather was great. I can only assume the economy or a historics racing event may have contributed. Anyway, here are the photos I took. My photo site has them in 1024 x 768 format. Some examples are: Scalefinishes, I got some shots of a Ferrari Superamerica that was there. Contact me if you’d like the 5 Megapixel original This way to the album:
  7. Maybe this will help. Go here for info on the engine: Ferrari 250 GTO engine info This is the best 250 GTO engine picture I have. Look to left side and you'll see an electric cooling fan.
  8. My stash is split between soon to work on and the "basement hobby shop". I've completed one model in the last three years because of work and family obligations. As you'll see in the pictures, I have an eclectic collection. I'll likely be selling off a bunch before I don't want to move a lot of them when we leave this area and head back to the Pacific Northwest. This way to the rest: My Hobby Kit Stash
  9. Just be preparred for crowds, crowds and did I say crowds. Also, prices go up astronomically there for this weeked (Pebble Beach, The Quail and Historics). Haven't been to the Historics in almost ten years. You will enjoy!!!
  10. Supposedly, almost 700 cars showed up. I took about 150 photos and cars were still going out and coming in. They even spilled over beyond the cordoned off area. Since the 69 Nova has had a lot of conversation, I took some close up photos of a 72 to let you all compare. I couldn't get the owner to pull it out though for a direct side shot! Some other types of vehicles were: See more at the link. All photos are stored at 1024x768 pixels. Contact me if you want the full up 5 megapixel image. Rolling Meadows Meijer's Cruise In Photos
  11. Bill, I have some sets of those hinges at home. I'll take closeup photos and post them.
  12. If you saw my post on Automotive Forums, this is the same reference. The kit is released. Here's the link to the detail... Fujimi Ferrari 250 GTO information My order confirmation came in from HLJ today and will be shipped shortly.
  13. Well, the F1 Ferraris are 8 cylinders (as all F1 cars now), The F430 is an 8 cylinder. I think that went by the ayside years ago.
  14. There is no Riddler Car Show. The Ridler Award is presented at Detroit Autorama held in early March. Do a Google Search for 2008 Detroit Autorama. There are a bunch of photos out there. Dive into whatever hits your fancy. HTH
  15. I'm looking forward to the 250TR decals. Also planning on getting some Cheetah decals as I have the HRM kit. Any 250 GTO would be a real plus.
  16. On Saturday, April 19, Chip Foose was the guest at the opening of a RIDEMAKERZ. The concept of RIDEMAKERZ is to customize premade cars with optional parts and paint pens, even to adding motors for RC. The models look like 1/18 scale Lexan or Plastic models. Apparently RIDEMAKERZ is owned by Build-A-Bear, so there is some money there. RIDEMAKERZ brought Chip in for the opening. Here’s a couple of photo’s I took: The last photo is of me with Chip. I had the chance to talk with him for a few minutes. He is a genuinely nice person. The gentleman before me had an Overhaulin sign on wood. Chip asked the man what his car was. The man said Camaro and chip drew a styled Camaro and then signed the Overhaulin sign. Can’t say more than that. I’m not sure about this RIDEMAKERZ concept, but it may be a way for kids to get into cars and eventually move to model kits. Or it could be a niche for those not wanting to do diecast or build models. Time will tell.
  17. Attended all through 2002. Hoping to do the one in 2009, along with the Portland events. A 2000 mile run along I-90 is just not in the cards.
  18. This is from Hiroaki Fukuda, a very accomplished modeler. This is an image he posted on another site:
  19. Have the Scuderia already preordered along with the 250 GTO. I have the Protar, Italeri, Gunze (Curbside) and Model Factory Hiro (MFH) 250 GTO's already. The MFH is nice, but body is too thick to nicely open up everything. The Protar (also the current Revell issue) has some issues needing attention. I'm hoping the Fujimi kit with the Protar and the KA models detail up set will yield a fully opened, full detail model. As I have the orignial issue Fujimi EM 246 GTS and 288 GTO, I'm OK with those. I have the Crazy Modeler PE set for the 288 GTO and have the KA Models Detail Set coming for the 246. I'm doing custom livery for the 430 Challenge, so I'm hanging tight on that for the moment. These are good times for Ferrari Modelers!!
