Here it is mocked up on the chassis. I have decided that in keeping with the "Show Rod" history of this car, I will be displaying it on a mirror base. Because of this, the lack of rear wheel wells need to be addressed. I will be making my own wheel wells to correct this. I am also unhappy with the locating bumps for the interior tub. I will need to try and cover this with more styrene.

The "lip" that was to locate the top for of car was not much more than flash in some areas and mostly non-existant in others, so I removed it. I then used 0.030" styrene to create a mounting surface and also raise it up a bit so that it didn't look so sunken in.

I decided a couple of weeks ago that I wanted to do this model simply to replicate a paint job I had seen. I bought my House of Kolor Candy Brandywine and was set to make my idea come to life. Well, I had no idea how poorly this kit was done. Lots of flash and ejector marks and sink holes. This particular kit is the '85 reissue. After a couple of hours of sanding and filling, and one coat of primer, a lot of the imperfections showed up. There were more sunken spots than I could see on the naked plastic alone, and I decided that I didnt like the way the original exhaust ran up the side of the car. So I filled the mounting holes for the exhaust and refilled the sinks and cracks where the front facia met the body.

hmmmmmm.....Izzy is suggesting Corvette parts.........Who would've guessed???

In the third set of photos, you are showing a "forward breathing" intake setup. What engine is that? Also, what was the dash you were showing? Its hard to make out in the photos.

I have to agree with you Gregg. I am so tired of having to read and re-read posts because of 'slang'(POOR) spelling. It drives me nuts. If you speak in slang or with an accent, great. But don't try to spell out your drawl. It makes it way too hard to understand.

Very nice Dave. I really like the color. I am wondering what color you used for the seats and door panels. They look great. The interior makes me want to jump in and take off. 8)

The paint bottle and the paint brush look like they were done "large". The bottle looks like matte board or some kinda board and the brush looks like a horses tail....... 8)

I will comment. Your pictures are too out of focus to show detail. Can't tell how good it really is. Comments to a post don't always mean that much. Would you rather have a bunch of one line posts that read "wow" "awesome" " nice"? Doesn't mean a whole lot, does it? :roll:

Hey Jared. What works for me is a micro polish kit. I start at 3200 grit and work my way up to 12000. I use very light pressure and water while I sand. By the time I reach the finest grit, I have quite a shine. I usually finish out with a plastic polish.

Thanks for all the tips guys! And I never thought to use copper, Jairus. I can already see in my head 'gathering' four smaller lines with a solder connection to create the transition to the longer exhaust run. But at todays prices on copper, can I really afford this........hmmmmm

I see people using solder for exhaust or craft wire for body lines. It seems that I am only able to find these items in spool form. Is there a trick to straightening out solder or wire for straight runs?

Nice 'tagging' pinstripes! Was that a brush or a paint pen? I also like the artistic placement of the tagging down the passenger side. 8)

What is the scale? Or at least, what are the dimensions?
