Duplicolor paint / clear question
CEKPETHO BCE replied to CEKPETHO BCE's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
What is this aclyric enamel paint? I got clear and a gloss black of that kind. Is it safe over aclyric and enamel or is it just a enamels? Can I mix it with tamiya spray enamels? -
WoW very unique I love it

Duplicolor paint / clear question
CEKPETHO BCE replied to CEKPETHO BCE's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I noticed they also have instant chrome paint. Has anyone ever tried it? It is like alclad or does it work on models at all? -
I have never dealt with photoetching before, but I am curious so here are a few questions: What is it exactly? What materials is it made out of? Is there a specific glue that needs to be used on it? How is it made? Thanks

Duplicolor paint / clear question

Thanks guys. Good to hear that their clear does not yellow whites. Can't wait to experiment with their paint. -
What type of clear?
CEKPETHO BCE replied to sportandmiah's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Are they easy to work with? i've had bad experiences with testors spray cans... maybe it's lack of skill on my part, but they spray kinda funky... Never had the same problem with tamiya spray cans -
What type of clear?

I noticed that testors one coat wet look is a lacquer. Can it be shot over acrylic or enamel paint? -
I have recently started using duplicolor primer and so far it has worked very well and costs a lot cheaper than tamiya products. I am considering using their paint (I think its called perfect match or something series) on models and I'm wondering if anyone has any experiences with it. Does it go on too thick? How is it compared to lets say tamiya spray paints? I have only used their black primer and I'm wondering what other colors they make? DO they also make a clear coat that works well with models? If i'm using lets say duplicolor primer, paint, and clear will I have to use primer sealer too or is the sealer only for models molded in red and other random colors? Thanky for thy time everyone.

Any pictures of the chassis? I would like to see how you lowered it. And that is one nice looking truck, hard to believe its your first model (or maybe I misunderstood the title)

Whats the site for him? I don't generally trust people over the internet with my credit card number so I have only been shopping with jimnohio so far, but if this guy is as good as you say ill give it a try.

Very very nice. I likey a whole lot -
You do realize that COPO Camaro's came with a 427 ci engine, right? Isn't really stock... Anyways are people really comparing performance of 40 year old muscle cars with modern imports? If anything you should be comparing cars from the same time period to be fair... obviously a brand new GTR will outperform a 40 year old Camaro... at the same time you people shouldn't be comparing a honda civic to something like a corvette in terms of performance...

Couple of questions from a newbie.
CEKPETHO BCE replied to JoeDeal's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I usually use tamiya spray paints for exteriors and tamiya acrylics and testors enamel paints for interiors and engines (both brush painted). I personally don't thin any paint that I brush (both acrylic and enamel), but some people on here say you should. As for online shopping for models, I usually (and only) use Jim Ohio (http://www.jimnohio.com). He has nice selection of models at reasonable prices. He also sells paints and so on. Where I'm from (Canada), Michaels has a weekly 40% off coupon that you can print over the internet that I use to get models from there. Hope this helps. -

Testors enamel cleaner question?
CEKPETHO BCE replied to CEKPETHO BCE's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I finally got me some lacquer thinner from lowe's. They only had one kind (that I could find) so I got that. Hope they are all the same. Can anyone tell me the exact proportions of lacquer thinner and testors enamel paint to mix so it would come out properly. Is the lacquer thinner harmful to skin and so on? I usually wear a face mask with some protective glasses when I'm spraying, but never gloves. Is it necessary to wear gloves working with this stuff? -
Ok I finally got some lacquer thinner as well as tamiya acrylic thinner. I tried to spray a car with tamiya paint + thinner and I got proportions all wrong apperantly lmao. Didn't end well, now I will probably turn that car into a rat rod... maybe adding tamiya flat base to an already flat red had something to do with that lmao. ANyways can anyone tell me exact proportions I'm supposed to use with tamiya acrylic paint + tamiya acrylic thinner as well as testors enamel with lacquer thinner?

Question to Canadian modelers-shipping
CEKPETHO BCE replied to gbdolfans's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Really bad timing for the strike, I just bought a fujimi GTR from a seller in the states and its supposed to be here any day. -
I think these arguments over cars are dumb. There are many good and many bad cars from each country and brand. If you like a certain car then you like a certain car. I get really angry when some people try to tell me that the car I like is not as good as the car they like... I'm not a violent person but sometimes I just wanna slap a dumb person. Maybe this argument over cars doesn't really affect me as much because I like mostly all kind of car styles from pretty much all periods of time (well mid 20's and up). Now as for ford vs chevy argument, in my personal opinion I think 20s to late 40s ford made better cars, but early 50s to mid 70s (with an exception of mustang) chevy made better cars. We all know that most american cars (with a very few exceptions like the Corvette and Delorean and few others) were pretty crappy after that.

Minicraft 300SL Gullwing question?
CEKPETHO BCE replied to CEKPETHO BCE's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
With shipping I can get it for about $47. I have never made anything larger than 1/24, but I am willing to experiment. I am not anal about minor details like the badges, I just want it to look cool on my shelve and most likely I will be the only one who ever takes a closer look at it anyways. Is it difficult to build? I have only build 5 models before, but I will most likely not start this until I'm done most of my 20 some other models (so in the next 10 years or so lmao). But if you can I would appreciate if you could send me some of your refference material -

Revell or AMT
CEKPETHO BCE replied to CEKPETHO BCE's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have never looked into lindberg before. From the pictures I've seen on here I feel like their 32 fords look funky. I see jimnohio has a few lindberg kits including a 40 ford, 37 cord and a mercedes SSK. Anyone have info on those kits? Is lindberg considered a higher end company like tamiya or more like a working class company like revell for example? -
Does future require thinner?
