  1. Randy, whenever I find interesting or pertinent info regarding anything model-related- whether it's a source for specific aftermarket parts, decals, good kits, paint colors, etc.- ANYTHING that I could find useful for a current build or a planned future project- I write that down in an old-skool, white looseleaf binder. Whether I did the detective work to find the info or someone here shared it, it gets written down. Websites, names, engine colors, etc, are all in one place for easy future reference.
  2. Some do and some don't; it would depend on circumstances, situations and personal mindset. Then, there's always the fear of seemingly rampant litigation. I wouldn't know if those factors come into play anywhere else. Do all peoples of all other nations stop and offer help in similar situations, every time ?

  4. "-I have to say on "past" Foose designs the only one I didn't truly like is the danged wheels he used on the past 2 Mopars he done....... The Magnum 500's "enlarged" are OK, BUT the other ones WTH was he thinkin'?????? The ones I'm referring too are on I BELIVE the '67 Charger, I have 2 of those kits and I have one of the '67 Coronet.... I WILL have 2 of those as well! BUT, I'd love to see the Hemisfear done as a 1/25th kit.. I can see A LOT of potential for Mopar builders such as myself....." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Frankly, I'd love to get a couple of sets of those big Rallye wheels and tires that are included with the Foose Charger kit. I could use them on a Revell '09 Challenger, on one of the '06 Chargers that I have, on a "retro-resto-mod" '70 Challenger... If anyone has any that they don't want, I'll be happy to take them off your hands. Does the Foose kit include any other tire and wheel options, or the Hemi headers?
  5. This might/could be a good thing. Perhaps one of the resin companies will produce a NASCAR-spec Ford engine. I know that when the Revell Intrepids were released, the engines were inaccurate, so Ross Gibson did the right thing and made them in resin (I still need to get one...)
  6. "Nice, nice, very nice." I do like it; the color combination is great and I must remember that I have one of those kits on waiting-to-be-built list.
  7. Ahh, I see. I have one of the Dodges in a die-cast bank form; it's supposed to be 1/25 (or 24), but it seems a bit small. I don't remember the manufacturer, but it is in the livery of an unknown to me brewery.
  8. Yep. And, one is a past champion (2012) while the other won the Daytona 500 this year. Both are doing well in points standings this year, too. A Jeff Gordon kit might do well this year, as it is his last year behind the wheel. The Toyotas might be good sellers because of their uniqueness- and the availability of the Toyota V8 as engine swap material into one of the older import kits of the same marque. Now, what I wouldn't buy would be a kit of the current "champion", Mr. Push and Run Harvick... but, that's just my personal opinion.
  9. We don't even know any details about the kits- at least wait until there is some more info or some pictures. As a Team Penske fan, I will probably get both. Even if they're relative simple snap-kits, that doesn't mean they won't have any good points, nor does it mean I won't enjoy a non-complex build, for a change (keep in mind the past two Revell snap-Mustang kits). And, like anything else- if you don't like the subject, don't buy the kit. Along the NASCAR line, if you're ever in the Charlotte, NC area for a few days, try to spend some time at the race team shops. They are the most impeccably clean automotive shops that one can imagine. And, you never know what-or-who-you might see.
  10. I've been reading model magazines of one title or another since the mid-late '60's. That's how I got all my scale model info, even up until just about 15 years ago- which, when you look back, isn't that long. Without the web, I would still know what to expect from the manufacturers, but I wouldn't be able to pick up all the little, and not-so-little hints and tips that can be found here in the forums. They might be found in the magazines, but there, you're really getting just one opinion, one method. And, the camaraderie- you can't get that on paper.
  11. May I ask how much the "ink" costs, and is there a method to calculate how much will be used and how much printing can be done with one... cartridge, for my lack of knowledge of the subject.
  12. That is cool. Are you gonna keep the hand crank?
  13. I have built the original, '60's issue AMT kit, which has been reissued multiple times, as well as the original, '60's issue Revell kit- that's the one with the opening doors and trunk. It has also been reissued multiple times, most recently as an Ed Roth car. The AMT kit is nice, but does lack some detail in that the exhaust system is molded into the chassis, and the kit uses one-piece metal (maybe plastic in more current versions) axles. That hood used to hinge with a funky metal clip; the current status of that is unknown. You should have no real difficulties building this kit. The Revell kit has a zillion parts, ergo, more detail, but they have not been flash-free for way too long, almost since the first issue. The doors and trunk require a lot of work to make then operate smoothly. Let me repeat: a lot of work. If you don't mind a lot of work, this can build up nicely. MPC did make a two-door with post (I guess it's a sedan) with a flip front-end; more or less a gasser on a frame that it shared with a '50's Ford truck by the same manufacturer. For what it is, it's not too bad, but it won't build into a stock '57 Chevy. I did build one and I like the way it turned out. All of the above are 1/25 scale. Monogram did do a 1/24 scale version, but other than reading an article by Tim Boyd in an old issue of SAE, I have no knowledge of the kit.
  14. I got that Huey back around 1980-83. I think it might have been released at least once since then, tied in with the Rambo movies. It is a UH-1B gunship. I gotta take a serious look at that one again; maybe move it up on the "to build" list.
  15. Automotive- 1/24 and /25, due to deep-rooted tradition, plus space availability, and cost. And, my parts box is all in the same scales... why change something that has worked for so many years? WWII and some later aircraft in 1/48, due to the ability to see parts and add some details. Armor- well, except for one 1/35 PzKpfw IV, it's 1/72, for ease of display and price. And I wouldn't be able to deal with some 600+ parts ( ) in the current larger scale kits. Ships- 1/720 is fine, as I have absolutely no place to display a 1/350 scale Nimitz-class carrier. Sci fi- it depends on the subject. I do have the 1/72 C-57D from "Forbidden Planet". It's very cool, but it's huge. Same with the 1/24 Huey. Oy.
  16. I'll be watching. Will you be using a Buick engine for power?
  17. We drove a rental 2014 Camaro last year. It had a sunroof. I'm 5'6" if I stand at attention, and I did not have enough headroom in that car. My 5'2" wife couldn't see past the hood. My grandchildren were almost comfortable in the back seat. No way I would buy any car that's too small for me. And, we Americans keep getting bigger. WTF? My '73 Challenger with it's more spartan interior was more comfortable.
  18. Indeed- you do make it look so easy. I hate that, but it's great . Will you be at the NNL in Atlanta in November? I'd like to see your work live and in person.
  19. Yep, my Mom's family was Polish, with some other Slavic thrown in.
  20. If I were you, I would be happy and proud of my work. That is looking real nice.
  21. Might that have been AM..., uhh T?
  22. And once, people were unable to fly, much less travel to the Moon.
  23. "How to Build Dioramas", by Shep Paine. While not a true automotive book, you can learn a lot about adding realism to any model.
