  1. Also, I'm going to try and do some shots of the people that attend this year, and post those pictures. So I'll look for the MCM tags. And Gregg, I'd like one too. Thanks.
  2. Billy, you have a permanent job as our official greeter. You're the only famous guy we have. Well, aside from Geiger, but nobody can ever find him on NNL day. We'll have a job for Vanessa too, if she wants it.
  3. The fact that the windows roll up and down is impressive enough, but the fit and alignment are perfect. That is amazing. I think this year you ought to display the shrink machine at NNL East, Bill. I've never seen one. Bill Barrett.
  4. My wife has supported me in the hobby, in the Tri-State club and NNL East, and in my support of the Model Builder's Museum. By the same token I support her work with Greyhound Rescue. We don't mix our hobbies, but we do plenty of other things together as a family. I think Lyle is right that as you get a little older you find a little more tolerance and enjoyment in each other's endeavors.
  5. Terrific pictures, Albert. Thanks for posting them. One of these days I'd love to go. seeing the pics is the next best thing. Bill Barrett.
  6. By the way, let me add this. Dioramas are definitely eligible for the People's Choice Award. In fact, dioramas have taken the People's Choice three years in a row (or three out of the last four, I forget which), so they are in the NNL East balloting generally. There's just no specific award for the diorama category. An NNL is not a competition, but you could go home with a People's Choice.
  7. Mike, I'm looking forward to it, too. It'll be good to see you again. We'll have the world's best dioramists in the same room. The center of the modeling universe shifts from Parsippany to Wayne on April 12. See you then. Bill.
  8. Sounds great. But a couple of things to note. Diorama size at NNL Eastl is limited to 2' x 3'. If yours is larger than that contact Tom Geiger at ModlCitizn@aol.com to be sure you can display it. Also, only static dioramas can be displayed. This is written into the lease and is required by the hall. No lighting or other special effects. This is a safety issue and isn't something the club had any say about. Also, this is not an official NNL East theme, so there's no balloting for it. But my understanding is that whichever one of you has the best one according to Ken Hamilton, that individual gets to wash all his cars. Good luck. Bill Barrett.
  9. Or rather, watch it try to jump off the dyno. http://video.cardomain.com/clip.aspx?key=0A7FFB07B9792D78
  10. Hi Jeff. Welcome. Happy New Year. Let's hope no one confuses us. I'm Modlguy, no 'e'. I'm a lot older than you and live in Jersey. I look forward to seeing your posts here on the board. Bill Barrett.
  11. There will be a host hotel, Peter. Tom Geiger will be talking to them about a set rate for NNL East attendees and, hopefully, we will reprise NNL Eats on Friday night. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from making their own plans, but keep an eye out for the official word from Tom, to take advantage of the show rate, or at least be aware of the get- together for out-of-towners. Bill Barrett.
  12. I talked to Tom just before Christmas. He's off this week and intends to check out hotels near the Wayne PAL. He has done some scouting already, and hopes to have info for everyone shortly. He'll add it to the website and post here as well. Bill Barrett.
  13. Great. Looking forward to seeing some of the famous Random Pics. Welcome, Albert. Bill Barrett.
  14. I'll nominate one of my favorites, Tim Kolankiewicz's Coral Aura.
  15. I'm old, but I've never seen it either. Great job. Let's see the front. Bill Barrett.
  16. NPR. Oldies. If I'm working near the computer I'll click into Rhapsody and pick my own. Bill Barrrett.
  17. A Hemi wheelchair? Flathead gurney? Turbo tilt table? Best of luck, Rick. Bill Barrett.
  18. It refers to the first National model contest that Mark Gustavson tried to stage. When very few people showed up he took the modeling community to task in his column, particularly certain "national luminaries who shall remain nameless". When the Toledo show started shortly after that they adopted the NNL moniker as a way of showcasing the non-contest status of the event. It has spread to other similiar shows since. Bill Barrett.
