Does anyone cast this '72 GTO spoiler?
Modlguy replied to Modlguy's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Received this part today. Talk about fast service. Also got a stinger hood for the new Camaro. Both pieces look great. Thanks Mike. -

I e-mailed Mike and he does have three left. Well, two now because I ordered one. Thanks for the heads up. -

Doesn't look like Mike has it in his inventory any more. But thanks for the response. -
A number of us from the Tri-State Scale Model Car Club are planning on attending. Even though it comes on the heels of NNL East we haven't been out there in years and it's time to go back. Certainly a unique experience that every model car builder should plan to make at some point. And I am working on a clone that is long overdue is now on a "no excuses" agenda for completion by 2015.

Bummer. But it was indeed a "too good to be true" situation.

Decal for Good Year Blue Streak Slicks
Modlguy replied to JPolli's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Indycals has a blue circle decal. Does this help? http://www.indycals.net/decals/tires.html -
I have sent an e-mail to them inquiring about this. Have not heard back yet but I will post when I do.

It's a Paasche. No exhaust fan or motor. No indication of dimensions. But for $17 it's better than a cardboard box. http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/pas/pashssb.htm

Scale Finishes Paints & Airbrushing
Modlguy replied to FASTBACK340's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You're quite right. John, Donn Yost will be at NNL East and he's more than willing to talk airbrushing all day long. His DVD on painting with enamels is fantastic. I was also recently fired up by Chris Chapman's tutorial on painting with acrylics and Future. It's on this board in the Tips & Tutorials section. Thinning is not an issue. Both videos lay it out. As simple as can be. Testor's Aztec makes pre-thinned paints as well, available online and cheaper than Jameston's. It is a Golden Age. -
To paraphrase JFK, the greatest assembly of modeling talent ever brought together in one place, with the possible exception of the time Gerald Wingrove dined there alone. What a memorable trip! That was the year I turned fifty. Gregg treated a bunch of us to dinner one night and I was feted to Happy Birthday by a host of modeling luminaries. Just going that one time led to several return trips for Tom and I, and other TSSMCC members. Here we are with The Man himself.

A Cautionary Reminder about what is - and is not - an NNL
Modlguy replied to tim boyd's topic in Contests and Shows
When John Slivoski, the first President of Tri-State, wanted to initiate NNL East some 26 years ago, he contacted the organizers of the NNL, Tim and his colleagues, to ask permission use the term NNL in the name, assuring them that the show would remain true to the concept and spirit of a non-competitive event. That permission was given. As far as I know, no other event has asked for such license. -
A Cautionary Reminder about what is - and is not - an NNL
Modlguy replied to tim boyd's topic in Contests and Shows
Well said, Tim. One of the things Tom Geiger has always stressed with the Tri-State club when prepping for the NNL in New Jersey is to remember the motivation of an NNL that was set down you and your colleagues with the original. Create a get-together where everyone can look at, admire, and talk about models. It should be about friendship and fun, not trophies! That's always been the case in Toledo and I hope in Wayne. The popularity of this format speaks for itself. Bill Barrett. -
Show rods and showroom stock. Plus a web theme you can find at the site. Thousands of models on display and many of the posters from this board. Plus the hobby's best aftermarket vendors in one place. Donn Yost, Jimmy Flintstone, Don Holthaus, Matt Wells, Bob Korunow- too many to name. I'm told Slixx will be there this year. Don't forget the Friday night get-together at the Cheeseburger In Paradise adjacent to the hotel. It's been known to generate a laugh or two. We may even be honored by a certain magazine editor who has been know to show up in the past. How can you resist? http://www.nnleast.com/cover_2012.jpg

Gotta agree with everyone on this. I got the painting video last year and became so fired up watching it I felt like I had discovered the hobby all over again. I met Donn at NNL East this year and bought the second DVD. It's hard to explain how enthusiastic one gets watching these videos but they really are a blast. Bill Barrett TSSMCC

I have an SX-10 and when you go to aperture priority it can give you a super macro. I kid you not. You can't engage it on any Auto settings, but it's there when you make a manual setting. Works pretty well and I like this camera for shooting models. Keep in mind that when you stop down you'll get more depth-of-field, but you are lengthening the exposure time, so use a tripod if you can. Bill Barrett TSSMCC
