  1. A MPC Dodge Challenger would be a great reissue, the pro stock kit like Dick Landy's, Motown Missile etc.. As there is no really good 70-74 Dodge Challenger kits out in my opinion that are as good proportion wise as the MPC bodies were, the AMT one is a combo convertible kit and the Revell/Monogram ones the bodies are off a bit..Plus we really do need a new or reissued Vega, pinto or Maverick kit.. Again just my humble opinion.
  2. Here's some Gremlin Pro Stock shots for you guy Photos by Bob Snyder
  3. Sorry Gregg I already straightened it with hot water and a brick
  4. Here's a shot of the CareFree Car for everyone to enjoy.and I was wrong in a earlier post here, he did wear a full face helmet...must be getting old, sorry about that.. Jim
  5. Yeah my Chassis was warped a tad but putting in hot water fixed.
  6. I bought the last one at Pegasus Hobbies yesterday on the shelf and got a red one pretty cool..
  7. Here's copy of the original Mongoose handout that I sent to Ed Sexton with other pictures to make the Kit, Chuck is right this car never ran a front wing in the navy version but did in the Hot Wheels and Care Free versions Tom ran the same car for about 3 years updating and changing the paint. This the Navy version had a front axle cover type spoiler.I have some more pictures if you want me to post them for model reference, Believe it or not Tom has very few pictures of this car. Also Tom wore a Firemask driving this car not the full face helmet in the kit, Snake wore a full face helmet in his rear engine car.
  8. The rear Slicks in this kit are the ones from the funny car, pro stock and pro mod kits from 1984 forward, not the Nostalgia funny car kits , the Goodyear lettering was removed due to licensing in this reissue, heck you even get the funny car front tires in this kit.The funny thing about these slicks is what they went on to become in other kits.., in the original issue of this kit (the Care Free Snake and Mongoose) the original tire molds were after these kits were done running modified and widened from the Goodyear blue streak special lettering on the sidewalls and replaced with Goodyear Eagles lettering and these reworked molds went on to be used in the Monogram and Revell pro stock funny car and pro mod kits for many years, so they have come full circle. these rear slicks are too wide for to be correct for this time period on this dragster. They couldn't do the Care Free car again due to Licensing issues and Tom liked this car much better, I supplied the reference for the kit for Tom McEwen.and to answer the gentleman who said the Care Free car wasn't run much or if at all, the car ran both the NHRA and AHRA circuits plus match racing and was repainted in these markings for 1974. The chassis in this kit replicates a Garlits chassis which Tom was one of the few to run. I wish they had Molded the Vinyl fuel and plug lines in Silver like the original or white instead of black.
  9. The Slicks in the Barnabas van are new and not the hollow wide MPC Goodyears from the last issue, I think my flash when I took the picture earlier I posted made both sets of slicks look bad, sorry about that, but it is nice to see that they are doing new tooling on things.
  10. I bought both the Gremlin and the Barnabas Vampire Van today and thought the M&H tires would be the same in both kits..., I was wrong!! they are both beautiful !!!, but the Vampire van ones are much larger than the Gremlins and perfect for early front engine Top Fuel Dragsters and the Gremlin's are perfect for early Pro Stock or Super Stock.. Vampire vans are on the left and the Gremin's are on the right..
  11. Mine was bought at my LHS.....We should have a Build a Gremlin Contest on here since so many seem to be buying it.... LOL... Hey at least it's not the Pacer or a Yugo..!!!
  12. I got mine today and it's a great kit, I too would love to see the Vega or Pintos brought Back, I Love the tires and decals in the kit and I must admit this kit is going Drag Racing..
  13. The first kit Revell released was the Tony Nancy, so from what I know it's a Woody Gilmore Chassis all the front engine kits are based on. The funny cars are based a Don hardy chassis as the Gene Snow was used as the basis for the first kit.
  14. I'm wondering what kind of rear slicks will be in this kit, as the originals were widened and changed from Bluestreak Drag way specials to eagles on the sidewall for the 80's to 90's Revell funny car kits
  15. This is the old Monogram kit from the 1970's with the Xmas tree and figures and the vinyl plug wires, the decals are new as this was 1/24th scale and not the old Revell 1/25th scale Mongoose kit that was reissued years back. I due a lot of work for Tom McEwen and he is a close friend I supplied the the Box photo for the kit to Ed Sexton at Tom's request.
  16. Here's a shot of the Vega I tookt while visiting Prudhomme with Goose this last thursday
  17. I thought I would throw my 2 cents with some info since I do work for the Tom McEwen and Drag Racer magazine with some info for you. The chassis was metallic Blue and it had a Cragar Blower and Enderle injector hat the chassis was a Don Hardy, the wheels were americans front and rear with a dana mag 60 rear end.. He bought the car from Candies and Hughes, look at the pictures and you can see the similarities.
  18. The car did have tin work over the enderle.
  19. side panel and tank was black, the fuel was also aluminum color during the year it changed just as the blower was sand color and then polished, things changed from race to race
  20. I hope these help I have done work for Tom for many years, the chassis is black on the real car by the way.
  21. Well I thought I would throw in my 2 cents, this is the first new funny car kit from revell in years, that being said I was around the real car and saw alot of it in it's day.Funny cars back then were made to race, match race and make some money if possible I think looking at the restored car it doesn't look anything like when I saw or photographed 40 years ago.I think this is a case that sometimes happens where a car is way over restored chromed and polished.Does anyone remember the car being painted that color??? I'm posting some pictures Photographers unknown "sorry". But that being said it's a great kit. Remember Revell is taking a chance with a huge investment on these kits.
  22. I know it makes no sense I totally agree but he was a vice president and I told him they would be alot of pissed off people ..I'm not trying to stir the pot and I hope that it is not true..but that what he told me it was to save money..I tried saying how many cars they could do with a logghe style chassis they could do, such as a Jungle Jim Nova or the flip top Comets..etc
  23. I was also told by Bob Utalski before he left Revell that the Hawaiian Funny Car was going to have the same digger style one piece chassis as the the Blue Max kit they did 10 years ago with the horrible mustang body
  24. Has anyone got this kit or seen pictures of the new Revell 69 Chi Town Hustler funny car the Revell site says they are in stores now.
