  1. I think it's leftover stock that someone bought at Toledo from Okey. Or the infamous employee took some home when Johan closed and they are selling them off. That would be my guess.
  2. Don't laugh too hard, these Cadillac's were some of the first glue models that I built. My dad helped me build them, he painted, helped me glue and assemble the model's. I learned how to remove parts from the sprue's, hold parts together while tube glue dried and how to follow the instructions. Above all else I got to spend time with my dad. The hood is long gone from the 64.
  3. I would buy any reissue of a Johan kit, it would not matter the subject. I would even like the Comet, Maverick or Plymouth police car.
  4. I took my wife to B and G Discount and after she bought a load of stuff I sneaked these into the cart. All told there were 12 cans of Dupli-color paints and two big cans of Ford engine blue. The total was 12.72 with tax. If only her stuff was as cheap.
  5. I've only been to five or so contests, but just looking over the models on display have given me a lot of hints for building my own model. Also seeing the different models gives me more inspiration to get one finished.
  6. I used the 50% coupon from Michael's to get four new kits.
  7. Tonioseven, I bought the only one that he had. I have been looking for one for several years that was not too expensive.
  8. Thanks for the coupon. So far I have used it twice and for the cost of one Hemi Dart, I have two.
  9. My eyes hurt after looking at that poor Lincoln. Is that a photoshop? It has to be, the cost to make it into an convertible, make it a two door and shorten the wheelbase would cost a fortune.
  10. 1966 Ford Fairlane 427, 1936 Ford five window coupe, 2003 Mercury Marauder in deep blue Pearl (only 327 made in that color).
  11. The Hubbley 1960-1 Ford station wagons. Several sixties Jo-Han Mopars and the Cadillac hearse. I stay off eBay and I am cheap so it may be a while until I get them.
  12. I finally got a Revell Hemi Dart from Micheals using the 50% coupon from the post below. It was only 13.16 with tax.
  13. I was afraid to think about how much I have spent on this hobby. But last night I could not sleep, so I went to my model room and ran through a quick estimate of just the basic kit costs, paint, supplies and model magazines. The low estimate is 5000.00 not counting die casts, shelving, or my work bench.
  14. I bought a few more Jo-Han kits yesterday from a dealer/friend/collection buyer. The flat box Turbine kit is half built, but fairly well done and easy to strip and start over. The Torino is built-up, but it was done very recently and with almost no glue. The rest are unbuilt. I also got a AMT Chevrolet pickup kit with the other kits. My favorite kit of the group. The rest of the kits.
  15. When I was six years old my dad bought some built models to resell. The one's he couldn't sell, became my newest toys. What was weird was the cars (Jo-Han Chrysler's and Caddy's) didn't sell very well. I still have them, about ten total and seven are still in nice shape. Ever since then I have been into model kit's and Jo-Han's kits in particular. There is just something about them that draws me to them.
  16. I have been watching Hunter season one and two for the last few weeks. I was planning the same build, except for the yellow and primer beater that they used for a few episodes. Very nice, clean work on your version.
  17. Actually, I traded with VW Dave (a great trader) for a new body.
  18. I spent some time boiling the body and I think it looks fairly good compared to what it looked like before.
  19. I bought several more kits from a collection today. I think I got a good deal for some hard to find kits. Slowly I am getting the kits that I have always wanted.
  20. I have seen this seller before and he/she/or it is one of the reasons that I stopped even looking on Ebay. I would never pay that kind of money for a part. I would much rather spend time looking at flea markets, garage sales, toy shows, and lhs.
  21. I may be able to make it for at least Saturday. I went once before, but that was just for the swap meet half of the show.
  22. If you have time, there is another hobby shop that is about an hour away from Grand Rapids. It is called Bob's Hobby Shop in Watervaliet Michigan. They have three levels of stuff and a above average kit selection. And Dean's Hobby Stop is also within a hours drive of GR.
  23. Yesterday I bought some kits from a fellow modeler who bought a very large collection. I was amazed at the kit's that he had, but I was limited by my budget.
  24. George, I knew the body was warped before buying the kit. I bought it from another modeler who bought a collection. For the five dollar price, I can look for a decent body.
